Awesome you're the best ! I was going crazy with retro arch all day until I found this.
Glad I could help! Retroarch is annoying to setup standalone on any device I find. Emu Deck really does a good job at just setting it all up and it is really easy to get into Retroarch while in game to change things like scaling, buttons etc which I will be sharing soon!!

I got my rog ally on Monday and I'm loving it. I've only downloaded 1 game because I need to buy a 2tb upgrade
The 2TB NVME upgrade is a must I just did mine and it is a huge help!
Emudeck is one of my fav setups
It really is amazing to have this, I wish Android had this but I think the reason it doesn't really have a full all in one setup is because some standalone applications are paid. The front end setup would have to find a way to pay the developers of those apps I think so the developer of the front end doesn't get slack about ripping the emulators. I as an Android developer thought of making something like this myself maybe I should just do it lol.
Setting up Emudeck on Steam Deck and Rog Ally is so easy. Steam Deck and Rog Ally are mazing pc handhelds to own, and now I just need an Ayn Odin 2 in my handheld collection.
Yeah it definitely is pretty simple! I don't own a Deck yet but it'll be interesting to see the differences. I love how smooth the setup process was especially just being able to use an external SD for games to keep the internal storage free
@DNAMobileGaming Get the Steam Deck Oled 1tb. I have the original Steam Deck 512gb.
I'd definitely get the OLED 1TB for the price and what comes with it I'd go all in. I'm hoping to see the price drop a bit first. I haven't studied a lot about the Deck but from what I've heard it can do a lot but it also doesn't support a lot which is why I decided with the Ally first.
@DNAMobileGaming is better to wait for sale on the oled model. Steam did have sale on the original model of Steam deck in 2023. Let's hope the Steam Deck oled goes on sale in 2024.
I probably should bite the bullet one day for one of these handheld pcs, I've only heard praises on EmuDeck and its ease of use once set up

Hmm 🤔 I haven't tried that one yet, I wanted to install Hyperspin on my Nvidia Shield late 2022 but I couldn't because of the updated firmware that came with it but I did have success earlier using emuelec on the Beelink GT King and installing Batocera as a dual boot option on windows PCs... for some reason it's so satisfying when emulation works and works well 💯
I'll have to check that out as well, the first thing that popped up when I Google "Windows front end" was EmuDeck. It was easy to setup so I thought I'd share it's beneficial uses for gamers alike that love emulation!
Primehacks is awesome! It is specifically for Metroid Prime Trilogy (Wii) it is a custom Dolphin build tuned to those games, with mods so the controls are good for a traditional controller set up like a twin stick FPS.

hey! were you doing a custom setup guide for EmuDeck on Android or something? I'm a huge fan of emuDeck on SteamDeck too... usually go the Retrobat route on windows, but this looks awesome too
EmuDeck on Android isn't really anything to be crazy about I shared it but I literally remade EmuDeck for Android with the proper apps for emulation and ES-DE as the front end not Pegasus.

Hi Bro can some one help me i have a Rog Ally and i want to use Emu Deck and when I Launch it it is says to download the update and i spend hours trying to update it manually? is there a tutorial?
Great content really appreciate it! Have a question, I installed emu deck to the rog ssd. Bought a micro SD card now, can I simply copy and paste emudeck or would I have to uninstall and reinstall emudeck to the micro sd card?
If you want to transfer everything to your Micro SD card you can navigate to the settings of EmuDeck and select the reset option. It will change the path for your roms but all of the emulators will stay located on the C drive.

You'll have to find the latest version of Yuzu once you do that it still works fine. I YuZe it daily because it's better than the 6 Switch consoles I own lol
How do you you create folders for each separate game for each different emulator can you help I'm getting my asus rog ally z1 non extreme just for emulation so I can then transfer them all at once. THANK YOU

I never provided this in this guide as this is the initial setup for EmuDeck there is a playlist with other guides for some systems.
I wonder if I can use the ROG ALLY Profile to setup Emudeck On My GPD WIN Mini. I should be about the same right
I'm sure it would work even if unsure if it's Windows then you could pick Windows for a generic install. I think the reason they have the handhelds is because they tried tweaking the settings of most emulators for those systems. I could be wrong though

Hi great video, but im getting an ofd issue with emudeck. When going through the install on Rog Ally z1 extreme it gets to select your rom directory and i get nothing appear, no drive or sd card. Ive the latest emudeck but it doesn't show. Is there a permissions thing going on? Any help appreciated, many thanks.
I had this issue with the latest update as well on another Asus I setup. I deleted everything and uninstalled it completely then reinstalled. I think there's a bug in their latest build.

Hey guys, any help here. How do i config the controller for dolphin emulator in emulationstation? Im trying to play punch out on wii and its got the punch buttons as the two left bumpers. Need to remap them. Thanks
Hey you'll have to open Dolphin manually. You can find it within your User/EmuDeck/emulationStation-DE folder within emulators. Let me know if you need more help.

Great guide up until actually showing how to get games setup .. I lost it around 15:50 as I don't already have retro games or folders installed .. only the emulation stuff so far. Since my ally and my sd card are brand new .
I'm sharing a series about how to do this, EmuDeck basically tries to setup your emulators for you based on the device however I have found some bugs recently myself so I'm trying to get the bigger emulator guides prepped first. I want it to be easy enough so that you can just play, hopefully getting these out by the end of the week! I also did show where to place your roms as Emulation Station does the rest for you SORT OF when selecting a game. But don't worry, this will be coming shortly!

You could always check the compatibility list for games I don't really plan to buy that game but I'm sure somewhere on the interwebs you could find it. I mean I play COD MW3 and other games on this, and they run great at 20W TDP or below which is setting your CPU/GPU power basically.
everything worked just fine but when i wanted to boot up emulationstation it just doesnt wanna start...
Navigate back into EmuDeck and try to uninstall and reinstall it. I just finalized 3 more tutorials and it loaded just fine with the latest version being 3.0 for emulationStation-DE. Could be a bug with the latest update.
So I’ve tried this with GC game and when I go to play them get a blank screen then back to ES menu
Did you install Dolphin Standalone emulator? If it's a blank screen it sounds like it might be trying to load Retroarch and if you didn't install any cores or Dolphin you'll have this happen. There's another reason it might be happening but I'll wait for your reply.

No you can use the internal the SD card just gives the option for more storage.
Once the games are added and I load ES up, i do see the games listed, but then when i select one, it's as if it crashes (loads then flashes a window, then returns to the selection screen) its very annoying and i dont know where im going wrong?
Yeah Emulation Station has gone down hill I'll try to update these guides, sort of why I stopped doing guides for this front end. Sorry about this... I know how to get them working too but they changed a lot of code and the developer is toxic

I got everything going but i tried to get donkey kong also and all that worked was left right and my A button is pause everything else non responsive. Any suggestions?
Did you switch to Controller Mode instead of Desktop?
You are correct I switched the mode and it worked but it actually worked under gamepad not desktop mode@@DNAMobileGaming

Its a pity the sega models arnt on emudeck, batocera seems to have a lot nore consoles
Sega is in EmuDeck what do you mean by this? You can play Dreamcast, Sega Genesis, Saturn, & CD. Batocera isn't user friendly in my opinion where as EmuDeck gets what you need with little configurations.

Not really, the deck isn't powerful enough to do newer consoles emulation wise.

The ROG Ally is a fantastic item. You won’t be disappointed if you get one.
Rog Ally is way better when it comes to newer games and online play, the SteamDeck just has a better battery.
My dolphin closes every time I try load a game since I added a dock to it? Any help?
Do you mean you've added a dock to your Ally as in a USB C dock to output to a bigger screen? If so I'll check out mine tomorrow as I have a dock but haven't thought to try it yet.
How do I get all the games to pop up on the file so i can add them to the emudeck
You need to have your own set of games they all go into your roms folder. I will be sharing more guides very soon about this, the first guide is coming next week!
How is the sd card doing? Can you share what files do you have in the sd card? I’m hesitant to put one because of the ally’s sd card issue
The SD card is fine even after 4 months I heard others had issues but I've yet to have any issues with overheating or breaking. I almost feel like some people troll to try to bash other companies products because I and many others have this device and never had issues with it. I play games where the device does get warm too.

No worries and no PC games are stored in the NVME of the Ally which is the internal storage of your device. All of my retro game backups would be stored on the SD card and other files could be placed here as well.

I use Playnite to reunite everything on mybpc and ROG Ally, would you consider this better than Playnite?
I've never used Playnite or heard of it until today but the fact that this is so simple for both Emulation and keeping your games organized via Emulation Station really makes your handheld feel like an all in one gaming device.
@DNAMobileGaming yeah , it does look cool! Playnite does pretty much the same , you can get different box covers for each game etc
@@veganelduderino9392 oh nice, EmuDeck is really a helper tool to keep your emulators up to date and get everything up and running. Emulation Station or Pegasus however are the main front ends. The big thing I like about EmuDeck is that I didn't have to go search on multiple sites to get the emulators I wanted or needed plus it sets up configurations for Retroarch MOSTLY based on the system you choose
I am having SUCH a hard time with this thing. I got all the ROMS in there and it recognizes, boom. Should be all set. But for some damn reason Emulstion Station is NOT recognizing the Ally as a controller. Like none of the buttons are doing what theyre supposed to do. I don't have a clue what to do about that. Ive tried remapping everything on Emulatuon Station but it wont recognize the Ally as an Xbox controller so it tries making them keyboard presses. Any help?
Edit: I checked the box that said "remove keyboard inputs" or something like that and now none of the controls work 👍 I literally can't undo the setting because the controls don't work now. I have no way of changing anything.
You need to change your controls to gamepad mode via Armoury Crate use the hot toggle button to open your quick menu to change this.
I got some ps2 games on my rog ally using emudeck, everything works. Except for the controllers not working in PS2 emulation?¿ is there a fix for this?

I’ve done all this now I’m just stuck with loads of missing bios, when will you uploaded those parts?
Soon I'm trying to balance it but seeing how much attention this has I might release it all early! If you check my channel playlist for the Odin 2 you can get the bios files for specific consoles if you know what you're doing.

Half the emulators won’t install I followed step by step have deleted and reinstalled the only thing I noticed is in the command promo it was saying robocopy command invalid
I personally haven't experienced this but there is a Discord as that's a Windows error with a file path you must've selected. This was the fourth device I've set EmuDeck up with Windows wise and they all did what they were supposed to.
@@DNAMobileGaming thanks I couldn’t actually find anything giving a fix for this issue I know for some reason my first install was bad because it would get stuck on looking for disk and had to delete and reinstall got past picking the drive but would only download retroarch and ds. Factory rest my ally and reinstalled now it’s working like a charm so idk

Citra was removed you need to get Citra from the Archives or Lime3DS which is the new version of 3DS Emulation.

Probably Emulation Station issue again unfortunately that front end has changed a lot lately.

It surely is available still Lime3DS is the new go to for 3DS

You need to find the bios that's why, there's also a playlist to help you setup other emulators so perhaps check those out for more assistance and educational guidance on how this works.

You need to have backups of your games for anything emulation related. I can't point you to any one place as globally some sites that share backups of games for educational means aren't available.

they have no idea how easy this would be to set up if they had world class touch pads.
I love this thing even though it doesn't have touch pads as it has many easy to use methods to use a mouse and keyboard internally and easily.
@@DNAMobileGaming windows laptops had "easy to use methods" to use a mouse a keyboard... but for the last decade almost every review concluded that the best place to run windows on a laptop was unfortunately an apple laptop... the same applies here currently. convenience isn't the end of interface design. I fear from the looks of it, that Microsoft will end up shipping their own handheld, first as a "reference", then to offer a product with competitive interfacing options. There is a lot not to like about the rog in general, the legion go's a long way in rectifying these issues and is a great value add to an existing usb4 eGPU, dispute having a track pad from a 90s laptop made for ants. Unfortunately not even aya's ryzen 7s look appealing due to the lack of not just convenient but world class interfacing, not just in the gaming space, but with track pads in general. The steam deck does look silly to people who haven't used to the touchpads.
Well I guess there's always something wrong with these handhelds mind you I owned a Windows handheld already didn't like it but first 24 hours with this thing I loved every minute of it. Plus I didn't buy it because I wanted a mobile computer I wanted a mobile Windows handheld that was decent! 😁
@@DNAMobileGaming windows on deck is beyond decent, thanks to not having to mouse around with a joystick or deal with a touch interface that was designed for a 10+ inch table with surface studio (28") and surface hub (85") prioritized. I think a lot of people discounting it as a windows device because of day one reviews.

Anyone struggling to get cemu to work? It just crashes to desktop
It's not just you, idk what happened but even PS2/Citra/Dolphin do this now. I was going to finalize my guides today until this occured. It only happens via Emulation Station front end for whatever reason too. If you navigate to the emulator the games run great. I'm on Discord now searching or seeing if others have this same problem and I'm going to check on both my computers today.

I had the similar issues but I installed the latest amd driver and everything is working fine
I’ve resolved it now it was due to a windows store app called ‘open cl open gl and Vulcan compatibility pack’ it was causes anything that uses Vulcan to crash. I’ve uninstalled it and all is good
My game dont load when I click on it acts like it starts up and never loads

I've never heard of Retrobat I'll have to check it out and see what the big differences are! When I Googled PC front end EmuDeck was on the top of the list and I was shocked at how quick and easy it was to play my games right after!

It is free to use, you can get a support subscription for their hidden features however.

Hey did you follow the entire process? If it doesn't download you can retry the beginning but make sure not to skip anything and double check your downloads folder.
Link for bios files ?
There's no links for the bios files however there's a playlist for some emulators like PS3 for example.
@@DNAMobileGaming is there a specific versiin of a bios you need ect theres stuff like 2.0 ect so on
The bios is only required based on the emulator you set-up for example PSX needs a bios.
I swear this doesn’t work…got soo many ISO’s and it won’t work… downloaded same iso on my phone and it works…
What doesn't work about it? Did you follow the individual guides for your emulation? I use emulationStation-DE daily both on my Asus and Phone but it still requires some configuration.

This has nothing to do with roms this sets up your emulators for you. Roms are acquired by means of dumping them you can find out more by Googling this.
I'm finding this so hard, I'm a rather older fella. I got the thing given to me by my grandson, and he updated my drive for me? More space, I guess? 2t? Anyhow, he said getting all my old games again would be easy. This isn't easy... I'm half blind. I love this thing, though.
But I don't really like newer games, I'm set in my 60 year old man ways. Is there a more easy way to do this?
