Hey there! If you'd like to pin this, I found a fix for the people who have an issue installing the dependencies.
Install Dependencies
Extract files
Right trigger Install_all
Properties (make sure it's on General)
At the bottom Click "Unblock"
Hit Apply
Run Install_all again
It should work and I hope this helps!

Installed the dependencies file retrobat won't even open shows the intro video then crashes

This has sold me on using RetroBat. I was looking at emu deck, launch box as well but I have been using emulators separately. I still probably need to for some games like Valkyrie profile 2 4K fan remaster as it requires PCSX2 QT night build etc but for general emulation this looks so good. It might allow save states and load states easier too as I tried using the M1+ another button for F1 or function keys.

Thanks. Got a snes game to work but having issues with Xbox games. It worked on xemu itself but for some reason xemu won’t work within retrobat. Gonna tinker around more soon. Love this Ally!

Great tutorial, thank you. But when trying to asign START and SELECT buttons, Ally doesn't recognize my pushing the 3-line button and the 2-square button.

Awesome Richard! I haven't tried PS1 games but I'd assume that you just put the ps1 rom into the ps1 folder and it will automatically show up 👍

Some consoles may emulate better than others which may be your Xbox issue - for example I know Xbox 360 is hard to emulate.

Yo i got my ally and after switching out the ssd for a 2tb one, which was hectic, its been great. I also added a 1tb sd card and the jsaux steam deck dock with the m.2 slot ive been giddy with all the storage i have. So much room for activities 😂😂😂

Is your sd card still working? I heard it will fry in the Asus. I got the Rog xtreme and I wanna put a sd card in but all I heard was bad reviews about it. Can you let me know your sd card is holding up
Thank you for the useful tips! However, I'm encountering a problem with mapping the controller. It seems that the retrobat is unable to recognize input from certain buttons, specifically the Start, Select, only the right back button, and the two triggers. Interestingly, the analog sticks are being recognized but only as directional (cross) buttons.

Hi, recently got an Ally and I've been tinkering with retrobat. Quick question I skipped the dependencies step as I presumed that surely it would already be installed, and so far everything seems fine.. Am I missing out on something by not doing this? Great vid 👍
Thanks for the kind words Gary! I’d say if it’s working fine then don’t worry, only install dependencies if you start encountering errors… congrats on your new Ally! There’s tons of tutorials on the channel so enjoy! 🙌

Glad you found it helpful Ralph! I haven't encountered this issue -
- It could be that the snes rom is corrupted, perhaps try another
- Perhaps try audio settings
- Try snes ROMs with my EmuDeck tutorial to see if this fixes the issue 👍

Oh one more thing you can put retrobat on the sd card instead of the console memory and run it from there to save more space just a tip to save more console memory thats how im going to run mine.

Hey there, so I've more or less got this running on my ally, but I cannot for the absolute life of me seem to figure out MAME - any suggestions? Not that I need a lot of mame, but Wrestlefest is one of my favorite time waster games and I'd love to be able to play it on this thing!
Hmm I’ve never tried MAME games - keep an eye out this weekend for an Ultimate emulation accessory vid! I’m a huge long time WWE fan too - although playing old SNES wrestling games is brutal compared to the excellent WWE 2K23 which blows my mind how far wrestling games have come along!
I am having an issue getting out of the systems, I have to go to task manager and end task every time.
Press Start and Select together as same time to get out of systems (although doesn’t work for all like YUZU Switch) 👍
I'm using LaunchBox/BigBox because it is what I am use to I have it mounted on an SD card. Everything is running smoothly on all emulators with one exception which is with Mame. I can only seem to play this in desktop mode and not gamepad mode while in Bigbox but this is annoying as I cannot configure the ROG ally in mame by the usual method of pressing TAB in Mame as BiGBox uses the B key as escape and I want to use the B key as button 2. Any suggestions by anyone how I could work around this would be a great help. EDIT I finally sorted it in BigBox you have to check Use Other Joysticks (which I don't have to do normally on a PC) then go into a game in mame using desktop press the left shoulder button to bring up the controllmap (then change back to gamepad on your ROG ally and configure your controls) You only have to do this once and all the games in Mame now work great. Hope this helps someone

I have tried Dreamcast with both retrobat and coinops and for games like nfl2k2 it will not recognize my analog sticks. Even when I reassign it will not recognize my left stick input but on other games non Dreamcast it's fine. Do you have any idea on how to fix this? I'm at a loss and can't find any info on this issue itself.

Have you had a problem that I installed everthing to a micro sd card. When I plug in my pc it works flawessly, but when i plug it in my rog ally must of the game doesnt launch. The error message is "emulator exited unexpectedly" any ideas?

Hey Patrick! If you put these roms into the folders RetroBat creates eg I think Dreamcast is dc, then the games should just appear ready to play in RetroBat. Happy retro gaming! 🙌
I finish downloaded everything and the only problem I have is starting up the emulator Im stuck at starter of the xemu screen and I drag the rom to the folders and nothing happens. Any help

How do you save and load without using the autosave feature?
Hey Broadstreet, it depends on the emulated console system, but most is:
Select and RB: Save
Select and LB: Load
Definitely check the manual where you installed RetroBat, for me it’s:
C:/RetroBat/emulationstation/.emulationstation/notice.pdf

When i do the step that you say to install the little green button, it takes me to a black screen and says "windows cannot find 'vcredist2005_x86.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly and try again".....any ideas?

Hey Dennis! Consoles show up when your rom games are in the correct rom folders - perhaps double check all your games are in the right place?

Personal preference - I personally prefer EmuDeck but RetroBat is considered among the very best emulators 👍

The controls dont work at all no matter how many time i remap them it always defaults to b for back the f out of the game or a for open the asinine menu system

Hey Gino! I think arcades are called MAME - google the Roms then place in the correct folder in RetroBat and let us know how you go on as I’ve never used this emulation before 👍

Great question Spikey! I chose RetroBat as EmuDeck for Windows is currently $3 a month on pattern and also in beta which may be less appealing for a lot of people, but EmuDeck on Steam Deck is awesome so I have full confidence when it eventually is out of Beta it will be awesome on the Ally too! 🙌

I believe it’s because emulators only show up when we place ROMs (games) in the correct folder eg snes ROMs in the snes folder, then they should show up…
It may be worth trying what I and many others enjoy using for emulation which is EmuDeck:

Retrobat is way betted than Emulation Station that requires a monthly subscription instead of one time fee. Pure dumb and intrusive.
Yes I went with RetroBat for this vid as I understand quite a few would prefer the free option of emulation!
I believe EmuDeck for Windows/ Emulation Station as you quite rightly stated requires a monthly fee for their beta version to help support their work in developing it (which other people are happy to pay) and again my understanding is that the fully release non-beta version will be free, in which case then I’ll do a vid tutorial on it 😎

Make sure your control panel in Armoury Crate is set to Game Pad instead of Desktop Mode

Hey RB, I’m pretty sure there’s an option in settings where you set the Rom folder wherever you want, in this case your SD.
