A tribute to Inuka, Singapore's last polar bear

I still remember like it was yesterday, watching Sheba as a little boy always excites me. I was amazed by polar bears I must say, and than Inuka I didn’t know we shared the same age. Inuka will be 30 years of age if he’s still here with us. Inuka passing makes me realise that life is short, we may be breathing today but tomorrow is not guaranteed. Visited Inuka’s memorial site yesterday and it brings me back to the memory lane. My wife and I sat there for a good 40mins talking about our childhood memories of Sheba&Inuka. May you bears Rest In Peace. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to experience and know you bears in this humid country. I wish my kids get the chance to meet you bears.
For those of you who thought he died because he was kept in a zoo, that's not exactly true. It's because of his old age. A lifespan of a polar bear is 25 years and he lived 27 years!

moana Avabel it’s probably for the best. This polar bear is borned here. He is probably happy to live here. If they release them in the wild and not knowing how to survive it would probably end up getting killed by other animals or even die from himself. So yeah he probably rlly appreciates the care he get from the zookeepers

I don’t really care about the animals. The zoo doesn’t care too. It’s researching and using the animals to generate revenue.

Inuka was my fav animal in the Singapore Zoo. The only reason I go to the zoo is just to see Inuka❤️ but when I heard the news, that Inuka my inspirational and loving polar bear animal who had just died... I feel very sad😭 I legit cried... I know Inuka when I was 3 & now I’m 14. I will miss inuka everyone will! Rip inuka hope u have a better life there♥️😭

I've known sheba and inuka for basically all my life, i used to want to go to the singapore zoo just to see them. Im 16 now but the joy that he brought by just swimming around was heartwarming. But to see him suffering to walk was really heartbreaking and I think the zoo staff did what was best for him. RIP Inuka
I saw this majestic being. When I was 6. I've grown and each year I come excited to see this. A Beautiful Being that has gained A lot of popularity amongst us people who visit the zoo.

Had a chance to bring my 4 kids to see u last year. Growing up, i had a chance to meet both your parents and u. Such a lovely scene to watch whenever i visit the zoo. U swam gracefully, u were beautiful. U made history by being born in Singapore. RIP Inuka. Can't stop crying Hearing that ur health was Declining n u passed away. U will be missed coz u r a history to Singapore Zoo. U r going to a beautiful winter wonderland where u belong dear buddy.

RIP Inuka. I remember when you were born, I was there. I was in my primary school, now a father. I brought my daughter whom is 4 year old now to celebrate her birthday almost every year at the zoo to visit you. You will be always remembered by many including my family.

So so so sad that Inuka had to be put down. I have been thinking about our dear polar bear all this while. From the tribute video, he looked sad and lonely and sick. Poor thing! Now, he can finally reunite with his daddy and mummy in heaven. May God bless them to have a better life in heaven. We do going to miss you very dearly. Goodbye, Inuka...

Guys the lifespan of a Polar Bear is 25 Years. And he died at 27 Years! Don’t blame on the Zoo for keeping him in there. Atleast he lived over 25 which is good. That shows how the zookeepers keep him safe and sound with their care and concern. You will be missed Inuka.. you are one of the fav animal that i like in our zoo.

The last time I saw him.. Was when I was only 3 years old...now im 11 and I dont have any memory of me going to see him...I wish I could have gone to the zoo.. It really breaks my heart when I see animals in a poor state like that but I know singapore was trying to help inuka and his suffering
