Game Description:
Mafia: Definitive Edition is an action-adventure video game developed by Hangar 13 and published by 2K Games. A remake of the 2002 video game Mafia, for Microsoft Windows PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The game is set within a redesigned version of the fictional city of Lost Heaven (based on Chicago) in the 1930s, and follows the rise and fall of taxi driver-turned-mobster Tommy Angelo within the Salieri crime family.
Conceived as a full remake of the original, Mafia: Definitive Edition was built from the ground up with new assets and an expanded story, although missions and arcs from the original game are carried over. As with the 2002 game, players control Tommy Angelo throughout the game's single-player campaign, and its world is navigated on foot or by vehicle. New to the remake is the introduction of motorcycles, a first in the series. Mafia: Definitive Edition's gameplay mechanics are based on those of Mafia III. A 'Classic Difficulty' setting will also be included.
In 1930, after being strong-armed into helping two members of the Salieri family - Paulie and Sam - escape an ambush by the rival Morello family, impoverished taxi driver Thomas "Tommy" Angelo is assaulted by members of the Morello family in an act of revenge. While he is rescued by the Salieri family after calling in a favor Don Ennio Salieri promised him, Tommy loses his job after his employers learn about his involvement with the Mafia. With a lack of job opportunities due to the ongoing Great Depression, Tommy is forced to accept Salieri's offer to join his organization, and soon befriends Paulie and Sam as they complete various jobs together.

I was very upset that they shortened this chapter. They excluded the Italian Garden Restaurant assassination attempt where Paulie was to make the hit. The only part that I truly appreciated is when you get to ride the motorcycle. So much potential in this chapter...
The explosion was actually even more sad, we actually killed a mother, not just some "hot dame" from Tommy's words, the way he also loses the phone really shows how Tommy still empathises with other people
And Tommy and Sarah's relationship's actually progressing compared to original, where we don't get shit but just two dialogues or something
@@yobrethren True. This is the best part of the game, Tommy and Sarahâs relationship. Iâve never seen such a beautiful character in a video game such as Sarahâs. I still have a crush on her.

There's actually a secret dialogue between Tommy and Ralph where the latter envies Tommy for being a good father as all Ralph got from his dad was a beating.

They really condensed the hell out of this mission chain.
Sergio is the type of rpg player to max out his luck stat but his durability level is $h!+ but only wins because of his luck
While do prefer the railroad crossing scene from the original, the one in this is still kinda neat, but just doesn't have the same feel. But other than that, this remake was amazing.
I think overall the main issue with the remake is that they excluded a few powerful quotes from the ending.
Think of Sam's original prediction: "one day they'll get you" vs. "you can disappear just like Frank"
Also the quote about the guy who wants too much in life risking to lose everything.

Phone boot fail yes but gun jammed was changed with Paulie tries to shoot Sergio through waitress but Tommy stops him.

Another big difference is trying to kill him was whole one day in original it took days following fail events after 4th fails he got him in fifth try.

I only miss two original scenes on this mission. that part when they kill someone by accident outside the restaurant (he was attending the phone) and that other scene where they are about to kill sergio but their damn weapons don't work.
Good to see Morello's not as stupid lucky as the original.
He's still stupid lucky.
- escapes a car chase from Vinny and Sam
- ducks a bullet to the head exactly at the right time (Vinny's aim was flawless here otherwise)
- beats the train
- doesn't use his car when it blows up
- escapes 3 guys with Tommy guns
- escapes another chase
- gun at the end of out of bullets
- only killed when an entire warehouse is destroyed

- isn't at the restaurant when Paulie goes to shoot him
- doesn't use his car when it blows up
- Paulie's Thompson jams
- he notices that the train will hit him and accelerates in time
- Tommy has to get a tanker car to bust his door down at the warehouse
And quite a couple of times you have to lose guys on with guns on your tail.
Unlike the original game which took many fail attempts to kill him in flowing days in remake he dies in a day. Kinda wish it was following days to expand more storywise.

@@luckyp1130 He's Morello's top earner. If he runs away their income is heavily reduced and it shows weakness. An underboss can't hide for long.

Itâs very much more along the lines of Mafia 2 and 3 (cutscenes) which I loved there still realistic but very much more Acton packed great action but very different from the original which many may dislike I personally liked the change itâs different and I kinda wanted the remake to follow the same story but give me something new and it achieved that.

These cutscenes are pure gold. All charecters are improved (love Vincenzo) and i am glad they didnt put it lame side Quests

I think the joke was funny, stupid but funny. Though it was so off character. Tommy is suprised and scared because he killed a woman, but then he decides to do that awful pun lol.
3:06 what did I thinking about after finishing mafia III, was not the sequel like mafia IV or something else. i was thinking about this mafia remake that with us today or mafia prequel about the friendship between salieri & morello under the leadership of don peppone. it could be set around WW1 era to 1921 until peppone's death. in this case don salieri could be the john marston while don morello would be the dutch type character in the ending with their relationship worsen.
the reason mafia prequel would be cool, because all of mafia protagonist lost their best friends, paulie died, joe was missing & father james hates lincoln clay. so morello becoming salieri's enemy would be a good story. if mafia prequel could happen, imagine salieri & morello as the strong guys, don peppone the good guy leader as good as vito corleone, sergio morello could be the burke type character who provides vehicles & frank coletti who can stop the police chasing them...

When I did this mission to kill Sergio in the car part I had an impression that he would not have such an easy death....
I just don't expect his wife to die like that...
in the end I don't know why, I felt a void for Sergio's death maybe it's the soundtrack or something like that...

Totally agree, the old soundtrack was a lot better because it was more dramatic. Like watching a suspense film which was really cool. In this new soundtrack you get the feeling that youâre playing Kingdom Hearts. They shouldâve sticked to the old soundtrack. On the other hand, the Big Band radio music is superb.
This mission is 1 of my favorite in the original beceas of the humor shame they made it shorter and got rid of some parts

The made it shorter precisely to make that segment pace better. Looking back on the original it was kind of a slog. Here I feel like they made am effort to show Sergio is a lucky bastard without fucking with the Pacing lol.
I actually liked how they shorten it loved the overall feel of this Mission aswell adored the opening cutscene

The first time I played this mission I for some reason thought I would grab a motorcycle on the way to the restaurant because I hadnât driven one for the whole game so when it did the cutscene I thought I like unlocked some sort of secret
The best part about this game is that I prefer this version than the old version. I would hopefully like to see in the future mafia 4 And bring back the old characters from mafia the city of lost Heaven. It would be nice also if Morello And SalieriGot a long and work together

I had to disagree, for me the original was hard and boring, also couldn't complete. Game keeps crashing when Tommy blows the train, so I had to download a save data to the next part, and it was embarrassing, glad they scrapped some scenes like the train one, which is in the beginning, the one of the "hot dame". It is just my opinion.

The original was really frustrating I'm glad they condensed it a little bit, but was really looking forward to the Tommy and Paulie Phonebooth scene, I wish they kept it đ but I really love the intro cinematic.

Mafia 2 was still the best in the series hands down for me. Hanger 13 botched the remake with their shitty game engine. If the chezk crew that made mafia 2 had engineered the game might have been a different story.

Mafia 2 was the best. Then company split up into two over the direction they wanted to take, and one of the two - Hanger 13 wanted to make it more woke like the GTA.
Much worse than the original in almost every ways.... damn. Where is the Italian Garden assasination attempt? Where is the railyard scene? There is absolutely no suspense in here, just fast pacing mediocre TPS actions in every mission. Great graphics and voice cast though, but really bad storytelling, bad dialogue writing, boring music and unbelievably lame cutscene directing. I'm totally shocked and very sad. Thank you for these gameplays, I'll never buy this game.
try to change my mind, but i say the remake has a better storytelling & characters than the original. Your comment did not say anything about it other than saying, which one of your precious favorite scenes are missing. It also does have better dialogues. Also the ending is more powerful than original. If your favorite scenes are not here that doesn't mean you can say the storyline in the remake is really bad. If the cutscenes don't have over the top intensity doesn't mean the whole story is terrible.
I am not hating on the original, i absolutely love that game, i'm just responding with the things you said.

This scene has much better pacing than the original. This segment was a painful slog pacing wise but here it flows much better and it still made it a point that Sergio was lucky without making this mission hours long
Might wanna leave the nostalgia goggles at home my dude. The originals pacing was pretty bad and this mission was an absolute slog
