@@chris9242 Well all of this side characters are either crazy, funny or both. But the only who shares the same life experience of the protagonist is Donovan, Donovan chemistry is so good with Lincoln. Although Lincoln Clay and Donovan weren't be seen to kicking ass together in Mafia 3's campaign and that alone makes the game feels empty and etc. I think a lot of people would change their opinions if Donovan was a side character that follows you to the missions in campaign, it would make it less repetitive. Like Ghost Recon Wildlands for example, is considered a good GR game because it has interactions with your squadmates and actually more conversation between the squad than this game had with Donovan.

Thought the same. Fortunately, the game devs gave us that short DLC with Lincoln and Donovan when we download the Definitive Edition. I'd love to see more missions with those two kicking asses together though.

John Donovan is the kind of character I legitimately enjoy watching. Wisecracking, capable and only too happy to trade quips in a fight. Kinda like a chainsmoking, booze soaked spider man.

Every main character in the entirety of the Mafia series would rather avoid or appease the government than piss them off, actual mobsters and mafiosos especially, but Donovan? Donovan doesn't give so much of a fuck, he literally accused a senator on LIVE telecast that he was involved in the assassination plot against Kennedy with cohorts coming from the mafias, RIGHT before shooting him. TWICE.
God, imagine a Mafia-type game with secret agent elements starring the dude. He's an entire franchise just by himself.
Having it start right after the events of the Senate Hearing where he shot the senator in the face. That would be the opening cutscene. There would be no other way to open the game.
A mafia game having John Donovan himself as the protagonist would be golden!

Scott O'Drowsky It depends on your opinion of story and gameplay. A lot of people love the story but think the gameplay’s repetitive, but I have no problem with either. It is repetitive, yes, but so was Assassin’s Creed Syndicate in some ways, and I love that game.

It’s a shame, this was probably the best story Mafia put together but the game play is so atrocious it doesn’t even matter.
Im surprised that Father James lived to do the documentary despite being a heavy smoker. I thought cancer would have gotten to him eventually. Same thing with John Donovan. I imagine he got cancer at one point or another
