    Hi Sean, Have you tried any anamorphic lenses, like Sirui? I have just started with moto vlogs as a hobby and only use GoPro. But I am looking into the Sony FX30, and since I like creating a cinematic look to videos, I wonder if an anamorphic lens is something to try out.

    Good review. I have the Tamron 28 - 75, and also the Sony 20mm 1.8. Great combo! I also originally purchased a Sony 35mm G Master, but that was a mistake. Body is the Sony A7IV.

    A lens that no one ever seems to remember that exists that’s actually incredibly good and versatile is the Tamron 28-200mm. It’s small and light and even though it’s a variable apeture up to a 5.6 it still has crazy bokeh. Also only cost about $700 usd new

  • @MiroSays
    @MiroSays Před 3 měsíci

    I have almost exactly this trio and I am very happy with it:
    Sony 20 F1.8
    Sigma 28-70 F2.8
    Sony 70-200 F4 Macro G2
    I chose the 28-70 because it's quite a bit smaller than the others and it serves as my primary lens. The 20mm prime is almost exclusively for low light.
    The Sony F4 can do macro which is great for product shots which I primarily do. Stupid expensive, but I really enjoy working with it. For the rare shots when the 0.5 macro is not enough, I use cheap Meike extension tubes to get true macro. The Sony teleconverters are too expensive for the few times I would actually need them. I had tried out Sony's 90 macro and it produces gorgeous results, but it's no good for video with it's slow autofocus and extreme focus breathing. The 70-200 also replaces my cheap(ish) Tamron 70-300 which I only very rarely used and not for my job anyway, so I am back to 3 lenses for my main camera (A7IV) which I am very happy about.

    • @seankitching

    • @MiroSays
      @MiroSays Před 3 měsíci

      @@seankitchingit's very helpful for product shots which I do almost every week for my job. I used to make do with the Sigma and go into crop mode, but I was always limited when I wanted to show small details. Now the Sigma sees little use for product shots, because the 70-200 can do it all. It's very liberating.

    You should’ve tried the Tamron 35-150 f2-2.8! It’s so great honestly and versatile. I pair it with the Tamron 20-40 f2.8 or even my Sony 20-70 f4! Specially if I want to only do a two lens travel setup!

I’ve travels with it a lot since people think it’ll be too much but honestly it saves me so much space and time due to the range it has. Love it honestly! @ekphotography Před 3 měsíci

    I have the Tamron 17-28 and the Tamron 28-75 G2 2.8 for my Sony and do not really need anything else. When I need wide I use the 17-28 and when I use 60p in crop mode on the Sony A7IV I use it as well. Actually for video never even need to take my 17-28 off my camera... When I need super wide I shoot 24p and 60p it is like a 25mm. For ver low light I would maybe get a 35mm 1.4 or 1.8 which is a sweet spot of a lens. I had the 20mm 1.8 with my FX3 but never really used it as much as I thought I would, so I sold it for more than I paid for it in the pandemic.

    The 4mm difference between those 20 & 24mm is not little, it costs 1200USD out here in Poland. Anyways, I found a 20mm Sony for around 770 USD but, f2, I couldn't find the 1.8. Do you think I should wait till the 1.8 version is available?
    Secondly, I did find a Sigma 20mm 1.4 for 1100USD though, was there any reason you went for Sony with your prime lens & not the Sigma?
    Lastly, the Sony 70-200mm f4, does this have to be Sony? was there any reason why you went for Sony? The Sonys seem overpriced, can I get the same parameters but just Sigma? cos I found a few of them but f2.8 at 1600USD and it usually says Sigma with Nikon,Cannon or Sony mount, I don't know what that is.
    Your detailed answers will save newbies a ton of money Sean.f

    I’m currently on vacation with my wife and kids and I brought basically the same equivalent kit for my fujifilm (apsc): Viltrox 13mm, Fujifilm 18-55 and a vintage 70-200 and it sure covers everything I’ve thrown to it
    Now, the only thing I would add is that for shooting planned or scripted videos this trinity works great, but if you want to capture those unscripted real-life moments, changing lenses is a nightmare and you’re better off with something like a 16-80 (don’t know the full frame equivalent)

I have the dreaded Sony 50mm 1.8, Samyang 24mm 2.8, Sony 16-35mm f4 G lens (because i wanna do real estate photos), Sony 55-210 (lens gets a lot of hate, but actually works well... I once made what looked like a giant horse shoe. Tied my camera to the center and raised it.
      The horse shoe legs were in the grass and the camera went from grass level to over a bicycle.
      I ended up using the film , but imagined that with a bit of effort I could do a lot more with the idea.
