    I bought the 24-105 f/4 a number of years back. I always thought it was second to the 24-70, but the price is right and the quality is superb. The OSS always astounds me and the minimum focus distance is great. All in all it is one of my favorite lenses as well.

    Excellent layout of the 24-105. I got that one due to its fantastic on-the-go versatility, cinematic performance and reasonable price. I can always switch to one of my older lenses for high aperture needs.

    Great lenses! And great video! I use canon and when I see this video I feel canon need to speed up their line up of alternative lenses to the most fancy ones. I use the equivalent to the Sony 24-104 f4 and it’s perfect for video. F4 on modern lenses is better than one might think. Applauds to Sony for doing such usable lenses.

    I keep the 20G, Sigma 24-70, and the 50GM in my bag and I feel I’m set for most situations. I would love to get my hands on the 16-35 or 24-105 to test out, but the next on the list is a telephoto or macro lens. I always appreciate videos of other videographers to see what they’re using.

      Hey! Quick question. I was looking into getting the Sigma 24-70 because i keep hearing so many amazing things about it but I’m a little hesitant because it doesnt have any OSS. I have been using an old Contax/Zeiss 35mm lens on my a7iii but good handheld footage is almost impossible to get because of micro jitters. What’s your verdict on shooting handheld with the sigma 24-70mm? I would love to know. Thank you

    Awesome video, thanks! I’m between the 24-105 and 24-70. The biggest question I have is, how much better is the 24-70 in extreme low light at 12800 iso? The shot you have in your video with the 24-105 at 12800 iso looks like it already has a lot of practical lights around, but I’m trying to find out if it can hold up with a single led in pitch dark (or moon lit), or if it just won’t cut it compared to the 24-70 2.8.
    I can’t find a single video comparing the two in super low light conditions. Thanks!

I have an 85mm and 24mm G Master currently and considering trading in or selling the 24mm for the 24-70mm you demonstrated on this Video. My question is, apart from the aperture slight difference would I lose anything by moving to a zoom with the same starting 24mm? From what you had said here I would say no but just want an expert to confirm. I love my 24mm, but I’m torn on whether to get a 35mm which is that me area I’m missing or go for a zoom lens to give me all options. The 85mm is staying as for portraits it’s unbeatable. Advice would be appreciated thanks !! I've used pretty much 90% sony/tamron/sigma lens on my A73S. If I have to choose only one, I would definitely go with 24/1.4 G Master for video. Super compact for travel and small gimbal. Super good image quality. F1.4 for blurring background, low light and night photography. 24mm is also quite universal for outdoor, indoor and even vlog. I find myself barely use my 35mm 50mm 24-70, 16-35 24-105 for video since I hate exchanging lens and 24mm can do almost 80% of what they did when shooting video. As much as I love Sony, and as much as I'd want to use the FX camera's, non of their E-mount lenses suit my ENG needs. What I would need is a lens that has at least 10x optical zoom, powered zoom and focus and if possible the ability to add a zoom grip and focus wheel. I would love to use the FX6 for ENG work but I couldn't do it simply because I'd probably be switching lenses all day. Which is not ideal when you're out and about with presenters and journalists and something can happen at any second. If you have any tips or recommendations, I'd love to hear it! Otherwise I'll have to stick with renting expensive ENG camera's like the PXW-Z750.

    Armando, buen noche, primero quiero felicitarte, realmente admiro tu trabajo. Segundo, me podrías recomendar un Camera Cage o jaula para una Sony 7SIII? Realmente necesito un Smallrig que me de comodidad de agarre, estabilización y versatilidad para colocar elementos externos. Se que hay filmaciones donde requiero movimientos más rápidos y bruscos en los cuales no se usa un Gimbal, por eso espero me recomiendes un Camera Cage bueno. Estaré atento, muchas gracias...

    Hey Armando, thanks, By the way, what is that battery you have under your camera in the first few minutes? It is not in your camera lists on Amazon. I remember you mentioning it a while back but for who makes it? Thanks! PS. I found it in another video but 385.00 is WAY to expensive.

    Best quality I've found so far, for the Sony e-mount are the Zeis Loxia series... Really great glass! Sharp, good contrast and beautiful color... Haven't tried any of their cinema lenses though. Of course those are all manual lenses, without auto-focus, but at least from the tests I've seen, the Loxia look a little bit better than the Sony FE and G-master series, IMHO

    • @mondobytes
      @mondobytes  Před měsícem +1

      Funny because I own both and I use both. So for my studio I love the Mark 1, the characteristics on that lens is beautiful so for talking heads I prefer it over the MKII. However, when I'm traveling or doing run and gun I like the MKII because of how light weight it is and also the manual aperture control.

    The 24-105 f4 surely is underrated. And it's awesome. Even more underrated is the Sony SEL FE 100mm f2,8 STF GM OSS. GM mit 100mm and OSS. And the STF-elements provides the best bokeh I experienced. Esp in the dark. Interestingly it's rarely mentioned. Surely one of my favorite lens even with only T5.9 ... but who really cares ;)

    • @EMBEVIDEO
      @EMBEVIDEO Před rokem

      @@moritzzoellner I prefer the 100. In my eyes (and that’s always a subjective thing ) nicer bokeh and it has OSS, which makes a real difference. Esp when using the lens for video work. But the 135 is also a fantastic piece of glass - like all lenses from Sony

      I’m Ukrainian military press officer I’ll have A7 IV and I I'm trying to decide on a lens.
      Sony 24-70 GMII or Sony 24-105 F4 OSS? Both lenses are not too heavy and have weather protection. The advantages of the 24-105 are optical stabilization and longer range. But GM2 has 2.8, a ring aperture and when I see how sharp and high quality the GM2 image is, I don't even know if it makes sense to buy the older 24-105. What do you think? I shoot both photos and videos mostly on a go. What would you recommend?

    • @EMBEVIDEO
      @EMBEVIDEO Před rokem

      @@user-co2fg2bl5c Both lenses are really awesome - so it is really hard to decide, which one to choose, if money is not the main issue. But even knowing that 2.8 is really nice to to have, I would go with the 24-105. The additional zoom range is nice and the and OS for me is a game changer. And it's lighter - the weight-distribution is better. At the end it is simply your personal choice and preference. Image-wise I couldn't see any difference. Hey - and really take care of yourself. Really hope that everything will be much better in the Ukraine.

    • @yuanzofficial
      @yuanzofficial Před rokem +2

      Having shot primarily with that lens for the better part of 2 years, I'd advise against it. It's very versatile and capable, but my main concerns were the limiting aperture (f4 APSC is f6.3 FF equiv? whatever 1.5x f4 is), and the shoddy PZ motor. It's quite an old lens and from my experience there's significant lag when zooming (unlike the new PZ lenses), and is NOT "almost" parfocal like Armando's mentions. You WILL notice pulsing if you attempt to zoom and focus at the same time.
      The IQ was decent but soft in most cases unless you were at f5.6 or more.
      The AF is also iffy. I got better performance out of my 3rd part Sigma (which is usually a notch down from G/GM lenses, not the case here). My copy also had horrendous pulsing where background bokeh/OoF areas continuous flash, as if the lens was struggling to AF.
      My 24-105 G has been a HUGE step up. And even then the new AF motors in the 24-70 Gm ii and 16-35 PZ F4 have it beat in terms of stickiness and responsiveness. Most situations I don't notice much difference though, more of a quality of life thing.
