seems like he's putting in words just to make a good rhyme but while doing that he went from a backyard cricket match all the way to a court case,etc. That's why it was hilarious imho.
His (the poet) mom cheated on his dad and left him that is the context.
Never in the history of English literature had a poem had it's reader (audience) in such splits.
Also, I'm not a virologist or Biden, but have little doubt that that laughter of Higgins is more contagious than Covid19.

Unpopular opinion: I think the story of this kid resembles that of yuvraj singh. He famously liked skating as a kid but his dad threw away his gold medal he won in a national level skating event and made him play 20 year old fastbowlers in the nets without pads.
I am sure my psyche would be forever broken by that kind of tough love but good on yuvi to emerge as one of the all time greats for india from that kind of tumultuous training

I today watched live a 5 session test match with last session being mandatory overs. India after 3 sessions of the match closed their innings and offered two options to England- play session 4 of 16 overs plus 4 mandatory overs. England asked India to club both sessions and requested for 16 mandatory overs instead of normal 20 overs for which Indian captain agreed. England chased down the score in mandatory overs (16) and won the test comprehensively. Indian Test captain Rohit Sharma post the match in press briefing attributed the loss to bowling in mandatory overs. He forgot that Cricket was a team game where bowlers defend what batters contributed. Well while batting, one batsman and one batting allrounder batted and other batters and bowlers and wicket keeper went for a walk during the first three sessions. India lost the test match. Indian coach Rahul Dravid attributed the attitude of batters to La Nina effect in Australia where batters can stay home and only bowlers can swing the ball around.
Post the Test match the BCCI decided to reward the professional batters a bonus for their performance who ensured Indian bowlers were not playing excessive cricket and reducing their workload. The cricket match bookies sponsored next Multi nation ICC tournament to be hosted in 2023 in India.. The government of India has enacted a law wherein Jan Dhan accounts of cricket fans are linked to cricket bookie accounts using Rupay payment gateway.
