I agree that people definitely overhype stuff.
I've done it before and have mistaken my expectations.
But now I know to remain more calm and keep my expectations to a minimum. High expectations are going to be a rough ride for anything, especially if the contents are unsure.

Same path as you: i used to overhype, now i'm more chill and i only overhyped the smash announcement so i got kind of disappointed at kazuya but then i was like "it's not that bad it's a fun character and all"

Oh, I think they are going to release some things to celebrate Personas upcoming anniversary. I haven't played any of the games but the plush keychain of the main characters from each game look so cute plus there 're the cutouts and such. So far the closest that I have gotten was trying out the demo for that one game for the 3ds

What kills me internally is that people in the chat of the E3 were crying about a lack of BOTW2, and when it was announced they complained about other things. I hate people online. The community is stupid.

Sometimes it's best for a series not to receive a new installment all the time. I for one am a massive fan of Fire Emblem, but am glad one wasn't revealed simply so that Intelligent Systems can take more time to produce a top quality product for us to play sometime in the future. Few incredibly good games is much better than many not so good ones.

I have actually been taking madz advice on getting hype from other people's hype. I am personally not a fan of kingdom hearts, but when I was watching everyone's hype over sora in smash, it made my hyped for him as well.

Whenever a new Smash DLC character (that I don't know) gets announced, I always love researching that character to get excited for when they are released. I knew nothing about Joker, Terry, or Kazuya, so I learned about them.

I'm definitely in it for the Metroid, favorite series of all time and Metroid Dread was rumored, dropped, announced, and cancelled, and we thought a sequel to the last game chronologically would never happen but THEY BROUGHT IT BACK! THEY'RE ACTUALLY MAKING IT!

Being overhyped is asking for disappointment. I keep my expectations low but at the same time expect a good reveal. Oh yeah, when it comes to games, I usually wait until after they come out, watch some gameplay, and then read reviews. Sometimes it doesn’t work but I’ve only bought one disappointing game after buying like 80

I don't think Metroid Dread would hold a candle against games like ''Hollow Knight'' or ''Ori and Will of the Wisps'' especially considering how much indie gaming scene evolved *Metroidvania* genre as a whole while either of its namesakes where _inactive_ . At least we can expect a sequel to Metroid Fusion, right?
Dread is a sequel to fusion though. And I get what you mean with Hollow Knight and Ori, but even so, it's nice that metroid is actually coming back, maybe it isn't as challenging as Ori or Hollow Knight, but it might be the kind of game to get people into metroidvania before they buy the Ori or Hollow Knight
Tbf, Ori and Hollow Knight are far more on the -Vania side than the Metroid- side. Dread's direct competition is stuff like Axiom Verge more-so than Ori or Hollow Knight.
Although, Ori 2 did have DoctorM64 of AM2R fame work on it so that automatically endears it to Metroid fans.
