I've made my own LPG ribbon burner forge , but this is my next project , awesome job mate , sorry , but I'm going to steal your design..love it that much
Well done man . Simple yet so efficient.
Best looking self contained coal forge I've seen. Great job!
Excellent DIY Forge video. I'm planning to make one very similar to this. Thanks for the added information.
If you can't or don't want to make your own forge, I've listen everything you need to get you started in the video description. Thanks for watching!
One of the nicest designs I've seen. Great job!
It looks authentic. What the craft of metal working was supposed to be. And yes the portability is great!!
You did a great job! I liked the welding I could see. Turned out to be a nice forge!
I have that same blower in my front yard. Great Grandpa bought it for the forge he used for horseshoes. Me and my cousins must have turned the crank a million times when we were growing up. For a while we even moved it by the faucet next to the barn as a hillbilly hand dryer.
+Jason Gross these champion 400 blowers are worth quite a bit of money... i'd keep it
I like the forge... good job! I am going to have to build one soon, the one I have is not holding up to the heat with me burner coal now. I am sure I'll come back to watch this a third time when I get ready for this project.
Steve Olan if you make your fire pot dimensions bigger you can line it with fire brick and it will last/hold up a lot longer.
Awesome setup, thanks for sharing!
Great job looks and works really nice
mate thats awesome! just looking to start building a small forge to get going, nice work brotha!
The best diy forge on CZcams I've seen
Excellent forge . Thanks for sharing !!
looks awesome man! thanks for sharing. I am interested in building this for myself, could you share the dimensions you used for the table and fire pot?
Nice, the hand blower is really cool
The grate on the bottom and assembly is called the tweir... Sounds like Tweer.
*tuyere
I think you did a great job.
just about the best diy forge on CZcams
Dear Mr. wilson, Copy that !
Sincerely, Kathleen.
Very nice build. Gave me some ideas to modify mine.
what kind of Welder do you use? Looks excellent, great craftsmanship
Just a tip, in my experience. lighting the forge is easiest with charcoal and a propane torch.
well i think its great! maybe a little larger air outlet in the firebox . to heat a longer piece . very cool.
Best one I've seen. Think imma build one similar.
THAT IS GREAT WHAT A NICE JOB VERY PORTABLE I MADE ONE BUT MINE IS BIG AND HEAVY AND HARD TO MOVE
Very simple design for your forge
Good stuff! Forging sick!
Like it, you a fine job Thinking and welding
nice forge, nice welds.
th is is really sweet man great job
i like your design! !!
looks like you did a great job buddy
would this get hot enough to forge weld?
i wanted to make one like this, and i was thinking half inch for the firebox, but you can't really drill through that.
Cool job man.
That's awesome!
Nice Build, sweet welds, Be Well
I really enjoyed your video. I have made my own forge from scratch. I only wonder if you are loosing a lot of heat with an open system. MY forge is all enclosed and I have great success with cost efficiency on fuel
Yeah, i want to build one out of bricks -sort of a combo bbq grill and forge.
I havent a clue though, just yet.
Great forge, really sweet! I'm in the middle of building one for myself, I'm using a brake drum. Since you have the air intake pipe on a 45° angle , doesn't any debris or clinkers drop into that air line by accident during the everyday working of the forge? Thanks for sharing, it's always great to hear and see ideas from others. 😎
Frank Daniels: Wranglerstar also had a brake drum for his first forge. If you go watch his forge acquisition and setup videos, you get a broad enough view that you can see what is possible. His is also on a stand. This is not to take away from the current video here. He has something to be proud of. But more information is always good.
Michael Dougfir Thank you so much sir, I will look into his older videos. 😎
I was wondering the same thing, but a simple screen tacked to the outside of the square tube before the 2" pipe is fit/welded would remedy that.
looks great bro
I was thinking about making one like that but Il use a brake drum
Great welding!
Very cool!! 😎
Got a new set up or just into other things?
That was good cool video , man !
Very nicely do I really like your deign
Super cool
you should apply a thin layer of clay soil to make sure that your forge does not melt
your a damn good fabricator
RHF.. Nice forge setup! Do you have dimension for it including your firepot? Also.. I think the word you are looking for is "tuyere" pronounced "tweer"
thanks for the video..
Shad
shadowcastre i
very good forge in Malayalam language called ula thank you very much for spend your experience and welcome to Kerala India your good tourist destination
Looks great the only thing id be concerned with is not being able to pull out the grate
Bad Ass dude well done
it looks great! here's some info that wont actually affect your smithing much. its pronounced "twe-air" and by simple definition, its "a nozzle through which an air blast is delivered to a forge or blast furnace"
What are the firepot dimensions
Getting that 400 for $100 with legs is a steal! Nice! Great forge. Most have fire pot on the blower side. It’s a little easier to crank blower and hold/check your piece when it’s in the fire. Have you’ve been using it a lot?
I ended up selling if for 350. I purchased a propane forge-master and its just so much more convenient!
I have just bought the same blower. I was wondering if you had to change the bearing out ever? Mine is gone I haven't opened it up yet was just wondering what type of bearing is in there.
+Laura r Im not sure about what bearing is needed or how to replace it, but go on facebook and look up a group called blacksmith enthusiasts and state your question and im sure they will help!
Thank you!
Good going bro . But could replace the crank with any thing cheaper
Nice welding
nice job
What tubing was used from tuyere to blower?
I just had what every was laying around. I think I used old pool water pipe.
Very nice
Nice job. You don't happen to still have the legs around, do you? I might like to buy them for my 400.
You know I think I may still have the legs and the stand mount. I have no problem selling it but shipping is likely going to be expensive so you would have to make an offer that would make it worth my time.
kool build,WTG...
Mine is kinda like yours, but it looks like its made out of sh*t, (brake hub, hairdryer, a big old metal pipe from an electrical box, and a poorly hand made frame out of random tree pieces) but it works and well, yours looks really slick and professional
what i think; the blower needs mounted so you can reach the steel stock in the fire pot and crank the blower. from the video, it looks difficult. like the size of the forge and fire pot. good job. the small holes at the tuyere plate will clog easily. you need a clinker breaker or wide slots if you retain the tuyere plate senario. you bought an entire 400 blower with stand for 100.00? !!!!!!????
You may know now why the air inlet to the tuyere is supposed to be at a 90°. All the many manufacturers knew what they were doing.
لماذا لحمت الشباك لاتلحمه لتخرج الرماد وتستطيع تنظيفه
How has that 1/8 plate in the bottom lasted?
Should be I've been using mine it's 16 guage but it's lasted me all of 2 years of daily smithing
Hey Man, great job on the forge! I see the date is back in 2014, you probably worn it out by now. Just kidding, that thing is built to last. Oh yeah, I to have a blower just like that one, except mine is still on the tripod. Thanks for sharing, Take care.

Aren't ashes going to get into your blower's hose because of the upwards angle?
Maybe the air going out of the hose is enough to get ashes out, but would you tell me how it worked out forya please, i'm interested about that single fact.
Everything else is really cool!
Design worked exactly as you just described. Never had an issues with ashes in the air supply tube. Always settled in the ash collection pipe.
where do i find "description to purchase"
sorry I don't follow, did I make an error somewhere?
i used or tried to use a plastic vacuum hose and it melted in ten minutes . Wondering why your rubber hose doesn't melt
The rubber hose is atleast 14 inches below the fire pot. Heat rises. It only gets slightly warm down there
i am baffled really i am
you were right! it was the blower getting hot , from a bad bearings ,du i feel stupid .thanks for the reply
no clinker breaker? it's been a few years did that cause problems?
No I'm still very happy with my setup. After running green coal, you will notice the caking of clinkers and all i do is take my fire rake and loosen up the coal around the air outlet. Also after ever other fire ill just pick out the clinkers
Clinkers? What is this?
+Big Jim when working metal you get Slag or clinkers. it's the leftovers from steel.
I'm familiar with slag never heard the other word.......
i think slag and clinker silicone that turns to (dirty)glass in the hot heat and blocks the air flow holes.
i like it
Nice
where do you get your coal?
you can buy furnace coal from tsc, but try asking some local mennonites where they buy theirs. they seem to be very connected.
Cool
Nice forg like the blower.you kan send me want?... 🔨👊👍Pat from Belgium.
5 years later. Still using this?
Sold it for 400 a year ago!
Good job! Be blessed kid!
tuyere....say tweer.
You have great Craftsman's skills from your creative performance.
I need a stand for my 400 blower
man put some grease in that gearbox
I'm pretty sure it's pronounced "two-ear".
your pretty close! its pronounced "twe-air" it originates from old French, and they had a weird understanding of pronunciations.
2:28 its a horse clamp
It's pronounced Tweer.
fucking savage..
100 dollars for a hand blower thats not a good deal
Nice build, but it is pronounced "tw-ear-ee"
Super cool
