- After we were treated to arguably the greatest weekend in the history of the sport, we’re delighted to be joined on the podcast today by ex All Blacks Captain Tana Umaga, a current World Champion in ex Springbok Francois Louw & ex Welsh International Philippa Tuttiett.
We discuss everything from the; All Blacks epic victory against the Irish to how the Springboks managed to shock the home nation in their capital, and arguably most surprisingly how the Puma’s managed to fight back to knock out the Welsh. Tana opens up about why he feels embarrassed by the way people have treated Ian Foster, how he helped forge Bundee Aki’s career, why he decided to change the All Blacks Haka in 2005 and what his relationship with Brian O’Driscoll is like after that famous incident in that Lions series.

you can never dismiss the All-Blacks, as they are most assuredly the upper most echelon of Rugby class acts, as well as the SpringBoks, i really hope both teams go thru and we have another N.Z vs S.A final.....

Love Flow's humility. He talks about how other players come and change the game in the last 10. "Was never my game." Mate, your 74th turnover vs Wales to get the match-winning penalty in that '19 semi-final was very much your game....🙂
He cant tell the truth about what is happening on the pitch so he has to say nice things, but if you keep having to push fictions all the time they start to scale up more than the PR people want.

Sharks supporter here, hitchhiking outside newlands after a stormers/sharks game with a mate, both wearing sharks jerseys. Dozens of cars drive by hooting and chirping us. Robbie Fleck pulls up with his missus in the front and gives us a lift. My ignorant opinion of fleck did a complete 180 that day. Legend!
Rugby is genuinely a special sport. The mutual respect and coming together of players (both men and women now, which is brilliant) through the love of the game and its values is just the best.

only 2 host nations have won as well south Africa and new Zealand
2027 South Africa to defeat Australia in the QF.

Next minute, Eben gets the ball and bulldozes his way past several French players, scores a magnificent try!! The young boy jumps up and down and shouts: "Elizabedi, Elizabedi, Elizabedi" clearly elated because Eben Etsebeth scored a try. I would say his nickname is ELIZABEDI !! 😂❤🇿🇦🏉

Tana Umaga and Ma'a Nonu...hands down my two favorite ABs of all time. (Though I concede that Richie and Dan are probably the best of all time, I favour Tana and Ma'a over them.)
In fact, Ma'a and Duane are my favorite rugby players of all time, (as in dead even, I couldn't choose between the two) ...and I'm a Saffa.

I think the heading "Stunned the World" means the Northern Hemisphere countries who were blowing the Irish and French trumpets so loudly. It has gone to the ABs and Boks but it could easily have gone to Ireland and France way, it was amazingly close. Interestingly a nation from different continents going to the semi finals.
Same old same old. Terrible pool selection as NZ-IRL and SA-FRA should have been semis, not quarters.
I really hope Francois’s son chooses SA over England one day.

France and Ireland rushed themselves forward without any tactical idea. France gave away some the easiest counter attacks this world cup and ireland couldn´t handle high kicks. They were simply tactically outclassed.
Tana looks like he could still be called up to the bench! (Playing SA in the final they might need him!😀) 🇿🇦🇳🇿 for the final! Can’t wait - mouth watering prospect!

This world cup the best I've witteneced congratulations to France for that congrats to the teams still in the hunt, it has to be south Africa v new zealand final game that's a true 50/50
First time I’ve heard of the origins of Kapa o Pango- Tana was All Black captain at the time and from this insight, he was clearly leading the charge to add the additional haka and it’s interesting that the younger players didn’t really get on board for nearly a year. I remember that 2005 test vs the Boks in Dunedin though. Epic test match & Tri-Nations decider, back & forth all night until the All Blacks finally won right at the end.

Social Media Platforms such as CZcams have definitely added another feature utilised that reaches a far greater audience in every country around the world. I remember the first time you lead the Haka as captain, great job by the way. With all due respect to the legacy of the AB's, I've always been uncomfortable about performing the Haka in another country UNLESS, our hosts request it of us (humble) however, in Aotearoa NZ, on the land is definitely a must do. I also believe that the captain (no matter what nationality) must ALWAYS lead the Haka "Kapa o Pango" in my humble opinion, it's more appropriate to our identity in Aotearoa NZ. Noho ora mai ra (take care, farewell)... NZ to win by 20 and SA to win by 14
