Eric Yang her daughter got raped and killed by the bandits, and she saw the St. Johns family killing humans (“the crazy lady in the woods brings fresh meat to the farm!” “Go on, tell ‘em boy Tell ‘em what you got in mind for-“) The death of her daughter turned her crazy, I think.

First time playing you may think Jolene is just a threat, only until it’s revealed what she was trying to warn you about. But was unable to clearly due to her paranoia and trauma. I like how she has “How May I assist you?” on the back of her vest. I didn’t realize it’s significance until now but it’s excellent foreshadowing. When you first encounter her she’s hostile and presumably violent but only after she’s killed do you clearly see the text, “How may I assist you?”. Only after she’s dead do you fully understand that she was just trying to help.
Notice how malicious and manipulative Danny is 6:50 . Though he is a cannibal he is very hesitant to kill the woman unless she is about to mention they are cannibals. One of is the reason I consider 2 is the best episode in season 1

@MrTax There are cut scenes were they say that it was the ST.Johns that took her to be more specific Danny who is a pedophile, which you can find out listening to the cut dialogue and the dialogue between the brothers when you are in the barn,Andy would say something like "dont keep the kid theres not enough meat to trade" which that alone hints and the cut dialogue confirms that he is a pedophile. That is why Joelene wanted to kill Danny when you were in her camp because he raped and killed her.
