  • Well I WAS super excited for this oversized tank for the CRF250L.. But apparently Acerbis couldn't get it right. I fought this thing for hours trying to get it to fit but no matter what I did it just wasn't going to happen.
    So here is my review and thoughts on this aftermarket gas tank for the 250L, in other words// Don't buy one. We also flush the brake fluid in the rear and clean the upgraded k&n air filter.
    Live and learn, I hope this video saves someone the hassle.

    I purchased the same tank for my ‘14. I didn’t have any issues fitting the tank but was sold an older version and the fuel pump mounting plate gasket didn’t work. I called Acerbis and they shipped me the new model from overseas and had it to me in 2 days. Loved the tank. Sorry to hear you had issues. Acerbis gave me great customer service.

    Highly recommend the Giant Loop Gas Bag, by the way. It's a little more expensive but not a permanent addition to your bike, so you can take it off and roll it up when you empty it or when you're ripping up the trails.

    I had the Acerbis tank on my 2013 crf250l. Had the dealer install it cause I knew there were some issues getting the plastics lined up and routing the fuel line. Solid fit though once done. I always felt that tank (or any large capacity tank) was the most appreciated upgrade I did, and I upgraded a fair bit. Get a tank for sure!

    I put the exact tank on my 2014 CRF250L. I had to cut my radiator guard but it did fit. I also had issues with the fairings not lining up exactly right on one spot on each side of the tank. But other than that I loved the tank (sold the bike) it held so much fuel. But it was a definite pain in the ass to install. Many bad words were said at it. I wish they made it just a tit bit smaller and made it actually fit good than make it soooo big and it not really fit right.

    I had the same issues with my 2013 CRF250L with the IMS! IMS also forgot to ship the forward mounts. The Acerbis went in with no issues, could be minor differences in model year. Funny that my results were opposite. The other issue I had with the IMS is that one of the studs in the Fuel Pump mount spun in place, had to cut the stud off to get the pump out.

  • @glennmcguire5571
    @glennmcguire5571 Před 3 lety

    IMS 3.5 is the way to go. Black. You will still have an issue with your Flatlands radiator guard. Cut a notch out, you may have already made the correct cut.

  • @Rosbif06600
    @Rosbif06600 Před 3 lety

    I have one of these on a 2017.
    I had to take a strip off my rad guard (much more than you took off) and I added rubber stripping to protect the tank from the cut guard. There was a fair amount of wiggling to get it to fit, but it fits and I love the autonomy.
    Acerbis also have a version using the original gas cap, and I would definitely get that version if I did it again. The plastic filler cap is $£!t.

    Keep the stock tank, and get a 1 gallon rotopax for your rear rack. Why solve a temporary problem, with a permanent solution. You're probably not going to need the big tank all the time. So with the rotopax, you just slap it on when you need to. Otherwise, leave it at home. Just my $0.02.
