1:23 Haven't Spurs conceded 49 goals in 32 games? 1 less than United, with 1 game played less? Conceding less chances is as much to do with the other team not creating them as it is your defending. Xg against would surely be a more accurate reading of the defences because it takes the quality of the chances into account.
Tottenham xg against: 1.38 (6th in league)
Arsenal xg against: 0.90 (1st in league)
A much more accurate stat to represent the reason they've conceded 49 goals to Arsenal's 26, with less games played. They're giving up a much higher quality of chances, so other teams are more likely to score, and they are.
I don't think Spurs have it in them to defend like Aston Villa did, especially not when the game is at home for them and fans will demand they have possession. And Arsenal tend to play far more conservatively away from home.
Spurs missed potentially their 2 or more 1st team defenders for more than 2 months.3 out of 4 losses last year came when Spurs had 2 fullbacks as CBs.The only half decent DM in Bissouma missed 3 months of football.Arsenal despite having injuries have largely fielded last years title challenging squad.Spurs have only lost 2 games whole season when the 1st 11 has started.Hence why this years stats are very encouraging

Thomas Partey has been out for all but about 1 month of the season and has just come back, Jorginho had to fill his place for most of the season, not the first-choice CM partner for Rice. Jakob Kiwior has played the majority of games in 2024, potentially the 3rd or 4th choice LB, due to Tomiyasu being absent for the Asia Cup and injury. All teams have injury issues. Using this argument, I can say Arsenal have never fielded their first-choice eleven this season. So that argument really holds no water for Spurs when all teams have injury issues.
Liverpool were absolutely crippled with injuries all season. It's not a valid excuse when conditions are almost identical across the league. They also weren't in European competition this year, so played a lot less games. They should have got a better quality of squad player with all the money they got for Harry Kane if they were going to miss two players that much.
