Bill Belichick reportedly wanted McDaniels, Patricia with Falcons | Pro Football Talk | NFL on NBC / nflonnbc - Sport
I wanted Belichick here, but hearing now that McDoofus and Patricia were part of the package I'm glad it didn't work out.
I cant blame you for feeling that way lol.
who else did you think he'd be bringing? everyone knew Matt Patricia was gonna follow him like a puppy dog into any job Bill might have got, because who else does Bill have lol he doesn't trust anyone, he doesn't work well with others, therefore all he had around him was know nothing doofus bozo yes-men like Patricia/Judge etc
and even without them, you really wanted a guy running your team who in recent years thought the keys to success were running Brady out of town and hiring a failed defensive coordinator to develop Brady's replacement, who was nothing but a noodle arm entitled trust fund kid? this was the kind of vision you were hoping for? lol why do you think nobody in the league wanted him
Bill's been washed for years
of course they were part of the package, Bill doesn't trust anyone, he can't work well with others, so all he has left at this point is know-nothing doofus yes-men like Patricia/Judge
can't build a roster, can't build a coaching staff, can't identify talent anymore, and he's too stubborn to admit it... there's a reason a man with all those past accomplishments had zero interest in a league that LOVES big splash hires, ticket selling and marketing big names etc... if Bill was even remotely competent at this point, teams would have been lining up
I don't understand why you would want belichick in the first place. The only way Belichick will ever succeed is in a package, with the other contents being Tom Brady.
Players don’t want to play for him. I’ve heard it said so many times lately on ex players pods. Without Brady, grown man don’t want to be treated like punks. This generation isn’t into the cussing out and all of that stuff. There’s literally a qb coming who paints his nails. This is a different league and Bill doesn’t relate
Matt Patricia is the great coach, said nobody ever.
Guess Atlanta dodged a bullet...
They dodges a tactical nuke. Patricia ruins EVERYTHING he touches. I have no idea how he's in the league still.
BB values loyalty over competence
One of oldest quotes about leadership echoes one of leadership core tenets: "Good leaders create other leaders" - Tom Peters
It's part of the definition.
So do the same shii that hasn’t worked since Brady left and bring it to another organization? HARD pass
Yeah. It’d be like Burger King going to McDonalds and saying, “We have some ideas on how you can make more money.”
Falcons have never won anything. Get a chance to hire the best coach of all time and ya'll pass. The jokes write themselves lol
@@williamhermann6635 What has bill won WITHOUT Brady? As a HC? There’s a reason the Pats forced him out and no team hired him
@@DWoodsII What has Brady ever won without a top 10 defense? Brady wasnt out there doing it alone man.
@@williamhermann6635 never said he didn’t. But Brady won a Super Bowl immediately after getting to Tampa. Bill got fired.
As a Lions fan, Belichick doesn't teach how to be a general but how to be a dictator.
Bill can't build a roster, he can't build a coaching staff (Matt Patricia OC anyone?), he still valued special teams gunners and guards more than playmaking talent
Bill Belichick trying to rebuild "The Patriot Way" without Tom Brady was the equivalent of Matt Patricia in Detroit
Yeah that Patricia Goodell is a clown T-shirt sure has aged well. LOL
If u remember recently Brady called out the patriot way as made up bullshit he said there was no such a thing
I hate Matt Patricia & Bob Quinn. They’re bad people. You’re not kidding about BB’s drafting ability. I remember looking at the 2019 draft when they were still relevant and thinking it’s over. That was a terrible group with so many busts and they’ve never recovered.
@@jkomoroski it was already getting pretty bad by that point, as were a lot of Bill's other decisions, but he still had Brady acting as the teams deodorant for all of it..... once Bill finally got his way and pushed Tom out the door, it just became impossible for him to hide it anymore, but Bill's decline was already well in motion by that point lol it just took people a few years to figure it out
He's won more championships than your favorite coach
Bill is a losing coach both before and after Brady. Brady went on to win after leaving Bill. The truth is revealed. He should have just retired and left the question unanswered.
BB still got more rings than Brady. Just remember that.
Who drafted Brady?
@@Jimmyd134 You are deflecting. Not well either.
They all had one thing in common: they no longer had TB 12.
Been saying this for years. Every coach that has left NE all failed. The common variable, they no longer had Brady.
McDaniels is still one of the best offensive co ordinates in the league
Bill was never even in the same universe as a “players coach”
Finally, people can sorta admitt hes a prick.. He has the maniacal, dictator type attitude. Something that used to fly in college.. and helps produce people like Urban Meyer.. something we dont need/want and is illustrated by his inability to find a job.
Good point made about how not to be early doors as a coach and what leeway you get with more success - hadn't thought of that / nor did Josh/Joe/Matt etc partly on them to have worked it out and partly on Bill. He's a great coach there's no question of that.
4:12 Great point
You don't hire a head coach that is spinning towards being an octogenarian if you are seeking stability. When you hire a head coach, you are thinking/hoping that it is a 10-15 year choice.
Chris Simms stepped all over Mike's answer.
Simms was in the organization. Florio watches highlights.
Belichick is a sous chef and a good quarterback is his flame. With the right flame, he's a damn good chef. With the wrong flame, people begin to question his product and his ingredients.
Mc Daniels is a great OC.
Who isn't a great OC when you have Tom Brady as your QB?
None of these guys will win without TB12.
I love it, people said people said that the other people said those people are truly the same thing those people said as well same with the people….
I’d rather have a qb controversy than have McDaniels in my locker room
I was pretty sure when the Falcons did a complete 180 on hiring Bellichick it had something to do with bringing in his buddies Patricia and Mcdouchebag.
They got it right with Morris
Who has the better coaching tree. Bill Parcells or Bill Belichick??
Bill was an assistant under Parcells when Parcells won a super bowl soo... Wait, what was your question?
@dropkicckmurphy99 oh really I didn't know that 😅 why don't you answer the question or move on
Sounds like Sith Lord and his apprentice
Belichick should sue Kraft for trying to make him blackballed
It isn't slander if it's true.
This old man is stubborn as heck 😂😂😂
If he brings Tom Brady it could be at least considered. 😊
You have to look at Bill prior to Spygate and afterward because he is two separate guys. Before he did develop coaches and front office personnel , Nick Saban for one. Phil Savage is another. I think Ozzie Newsome was in Cleveland with him. Just look at the staff on that Cleveland team. He did talk to the media. He would crack the occasional joke. After Spygate, he closed the circle of trust. No new blood came in, no new ideas, no one to say no to him. After Spygate, he stopped developing coaches and front office personal. He just got yes men after that.
Well they didn’t have Brady.
At one point, Belichick spoke to the media, but once that Spygate situation happened, he changed. Belichick probably hated the media after that.
Jack Easterby is Rasputin
The reason they failed is because they didn’t have Brady. It’s that simple
Kinda putting the cart before the horse.
20 years of dominance would not be possible without a great coach period
Recency bias keyboard warriors criticising BB is downright idiotic
That’s crazy to think Bill wasn’t good at leading. Two decades of success with ultra egotistical people in a physical sport must be easy.
As usual another observation that misses the point. Apparently the idea that maybe Coach B not going to Atlanta was a blessing in disguise as ATL is going to stink next year
Why anyone would allow McDaniels or Patricia near their team is beyond me. What Bob Quinn(another Patriot man) and Matt Patricia did in Detroit should be criminal. They stripped down a playoff team, and made us the worst team in the league.
I can't stand Matt Patricia if I was an owner that's a fireable reason if my coach brought him to the staff.
Assuming the Cowboy's fail in the playoffs again... Belichick would be perfect there. The Jones' would be able to keep their turf on personnel, and Belichick would have some input... and he's big enough to handle the big stage that is Dallas. For assistants, McDaniels is a no-brainer for OC, but Jerry would have to insist that there be no Joe Judge... not even for special teams...
Florio says that Belichick is not a good general or leader of an organization. Then why did he constantly chide teams, such as Washington, that chose not to interview him for a head coaching position?
You hire a coach but are surprised when he wants his team to be hired with him?
Still need a field General...Without Brady, Bilicheck wouldn't be anything and vice versa. No matter what they try ain't happening...unless you get another TB12!!
Simms was right.
NE fucked up letting Jimmy G go.
A lot of people showing they don’t know football here lol. McDaniels and Patricia are great as assistants.
Bill Belicheck / McDaniels and Kirk Cousins would have been special but we got some incompetent front office ppl like Owner / GM and joke of a coach that drafts like Raheem morris and Terry … etc
Any new coach that don’t win gets fired
Nobody looks down on Don Shula for never winning a superbowl with Dan Marino. People who know the history of football have the utmost respect for BB.
Why would you train assistant coaches when they jump at first chance for their own glory and don't give a crap if they destroy you when they get a chance!
They are pretty much saying common sense. Stuff, so if those coaches didn't know that that's on them.
Andy Reid We'll retire with the most wins of all time. It doesn't matter if Billy b gets another coaching job.
I wouldn’t hire Mcdaniels to coach a pop Warner football team he’s finished treating his players like crap I’m sure some winless team will take a chance on him someday as a assistant coach not head coach…
Mad Florio woooooo 😹😹
It’s been rumored that Bill Bellichick once met the Grinch. The Grinch wanted nothing to do with Bill because Bill’s too grumpy. Supposedly.
I don't know man. No one has ever seen the Grinch and Belichick in the same room together...
That's enough to get told to take a walk right there.
A guy with a losing record and one playoff win in his career without Tom Brady, and he wants to bring in two bums for his staff.
Legit bill probably hopes they fail so they can return as assistants
His time has passed him by. I don't know what it is with these guys, but when you have done all that you can do, especially if you have won an exhorbitant number of championships, why make a mockery of your long time career? I think that it's just stupidity and greed.
Making excuses for bill belichick is nasty work😂😂😂
And delusional and hilarious. I'm still waiting on replies from people who told me last season that Belichick would be having offers left and right, with some teams willing to trade first round picks for him.
You guys are so far off...Interview in Atlanta was for the league and Patriots....
As terrible of a head coach as both were, and by God they were terrible, they're not bad if kept strictly as Xs and Os guys. Josh actually made Mac Jones look promising. It's just they can't lead.
Raheem morris makes more sense for the falcons anyway, no one wants Matt patrica or McDaniels on there staff.
Why would the falcons hire bottom of the barrel assistant coach’s for bil, who couldn’t make it in New England for 5 seasons. Unsuccessful as of late coach’s don’t need more opportunities to screw up other organizations
Florio = The Belichick Hater
How is this news?… smh
For the first time. I have to agree with the Falcons organization. Bill bringing in those nincompoops as assistance would not have been good for the Falcons. I don’t care about Mike Florio and his nut riding of all things Bill. The Falcons dodged the bullet.
Yea no fucking wonder they said no, and now the falcons try to put it on the patriots as to why they didn’t hire him just to cover their ass if Raheem doesn’t work out. Jets will jet and falcons will falcon
Belichick needs to think like Tom coughlin in his last couple of years and reinvent himself.
The cheat can only function in the northeast w his pickled ownership.
This is probably why Bellichick doesn’t have a gig. Billionaire owners want people working for them to kiss their rich a-ses. Hell, everyone does. But I’m sure the Falcons weren’t thrilled with the idea of hiring someone who has too much power. But Bellichick’s last few years in New England were a disaster and that didn’t help much either. If I were an owner I wouldn’t hire Bellichick if he’d say he’d work for free. It wouldn’t be worth it. I’d want sone young, healthy offensive-minded guy who can take advantage of the new stupid rule changes in the NFL.
yeah the only reason Bill didn't get a job is because he's not good anymore.... it's not because he's old, it's not because he would demand control, it's not because Robert Kraft might have said something...... none of that would matter whatsoever if Bill was still good at the job, if he'd shown at any point in recent years that he's even remotely capable of re-creating that old winning formula..... the simple fact is that he's not a good GM, he can't build a good coaching staff around him because he only trusts his recycled yes-men like Patricia/Judge etc, we've seen what Bill's way gets without Brady and it's 100% a losing formula, especially in 2024 and beyond
If Belichick didnt fly off the rails with the Pats the past few years, I would have loved him in Dallas, but then again, hes probably not available if that doesnt happen.
Lastly, and it sucks when youre older and realize the show is over, but his age is a major problem.for anybody hiring him. As a kid, and a Cowboys fan, most of us hated when Tom Landry was fired, or atleast the way it was handled. That being said, and I say this even IF Jimmy Johnson didnt take over and win us three Superbowls, IT WAS TIME to move on from Coach Landry. You get old in life, things change, and you just arent as sharp or have the same energy as you did when you were younger. The NFL is BRUTALLY competitive, and it is a younger mans game.
I dont think that Belichick was totally carried by Tom Brady. He had a part in Bradys development as well, and atleast gets SOME credit for his success, and especially that defense, which was a big part of the Pats success as well. But all good things come to an end, and as sad as it is, I think it has for Bill as a head coach. D coordinator? Fine, but he doesnt want that demotion, and I cant blame him for that.
His times up.
A generals job isn't to train other generals. Flores is such a clown. And why are we even talking about this nonsense when none of it's even substantiated just rumor nonsense again. 🤦♂️
it is every officer's job to train his subordinates.
It’s no wonder nobody wanted bellichick now if he wanted his stooges there with him. Excluding urban Meyer Josh McDaniels is the worst head coach I’ve ever seen in my life
Falcons declined soon as they heard that 🤡 mcdaniels name
I'd definitely want McDaniels as OC...but Patricia is a deal-breaker. Patricia has NEVER been good. Everyone calls him a genius, which may be true, but he was mediocre even as the Patriots DC and literally ruined the Eagles D last year.
Mcdummys success as an oc is a direct result of Brady. Mcdaniels failed as coach/OC with the broncos and raiders. Both of those teams offense ranked bottom 5. McDaniels is a clown and an fraud
You should never want any coach from Belichick's coaching tree. They all benefitted from Brady.
Hey Mike Flores, I mean Florio. How does it feel to be owned by Demeatrice Lamar Jackson?
Funny how NOW everyone tries to shit on the GOAT. What a bunch of losers.
it's not "shitting" on Bill, it's just recognizing the simple fact of reality that he isn't good anymore, that the league passed him by and he was too stubborn to ever admit it and adapt accordingly
i'd say your notion of any form of criticism equating to "shitting" on someone is more of a losers mentality than anything i've heard about this topic (PS - i was "shitting" on Bill years ago, seen this coming from miles away)
Basically he’s not the GOAT I’m sorry but it’s Andy Reid and it’s not even close
STOP. Belicheat had Brady.
Bill assistants was trash for the same reason Bill is. Truth and reality is without Brady he's been trash his whole career. He was trash in Cleveland and was trash in NE before and after Brady. He's not who he thinks he is neither. He's a defensive coordinator control freak and breed a coaching tree of narcissistic people who can't relate to men. Atlanta did right
Belichick was not a general. He was a dictator. The General was always Brady. Belichick and his coaches got exposed when they didn't have Brady.
Easterby is garbage
8 super bowls is not good??
Belichick needs to go the Jets where they NEED a hard nosed coach to take full control and establish discipline and a winning culture in that disfuctional organization!
