  • This video discusses the best witchcraft tools for your path. Each and every witch has their own strengths and weaknesses, and I don't necessarily use that many tools in my craft - Although I have noticed that in this video I get rather excited by each tool as I think about them - that comes from not planning my video properly and slightly doing it on the fly... Oh well!
What witchcraft tools do you like to use, please do let me know and why as I would be so interested.

Hello Rhonda...I do think one has an innate sense of being a Witch.
The learning never ends. I am also
one to watch for signs..the cawing of a crow, finding a feather or seeing something special out of your window. Blessings to you in
      your growth. Ginny is superb.

Hi Ginny, I love your videos and I'm answering your prompt: I've been a solitary eclectic witch for over 2 decades now. I'm a creative, kitchen, cottage, hedge riding... you name it, and I work mostly with ancestral guidance, fire, smoke and wood. As I carve my wands (mostly made of fallen evergreen branches), I squirrel away the shavings and resins to do my smoke cleansing rituals. My favorite is pine and it's the basis of ALL my fires, as it is known for its healing properties, and the wood shavings are often soaked with resinous saps (built in frankincense replacement).
I usually sprinkle a little lavender (for relaxation), bay leaf (to banish evils and negativity), black pepper (protection), orange peel (for good fortune) and cinnamon (to expedite the spell). I'll get people to tell me their desires; design a spell for their needs; sometimes we write it down, and other times I get them to repeat an affirmation after me; then we light the shavings atop a resin-soaked bed of salt (in a glass pyrex dip bowl) and watch the fires destroy the negativity and carry our wishes to the heavens.
I also will often burn my wands over the magically charged flames, if the situation is suitable (I.e.: divination wand over a divination spell, protection wand over protection spell, etc.)

an underrated witchy tool is clay. Got a candle that doesn't fit any holder? You can make one in a few minutes. Also great for crafting specific charms or beads, or little boxes or spoons. You can even make poppets out of it.

  • @SN-sz7kw
    @SN-sz7kw Před rokem +13

Lovely, thank you. Many may know this, but “smudge” originates from the Middle English “smogen.” It’s a shared term. Burning herbs and the use of smoke is a universal, historical human practice, in Europe often referred to as “saining” - from the Scots. 😊

    • @user-fh9vv9lw1g
      @user-fh9vv9lw1g Před 7 měsíci

Yes the word 'smudge' is a European word but that's because it's English. That doesn't mean that the act of smudging is originally a European thing. The video maker and most people need to remember that Europe is a baby in terms of civilization. It's the last civilization to have formed. The history of Europe is traditionally divided into four time periods: prehistoric Europe (prior to about 800 BC), classical antiquity (800 BC to AD 500), the Middle Ages (AD 500 to AD 1500), and the modern era (since AD 1500). Europe did not even get called EUROPE until 9 AC. And the oldest and first country was France. In this order, here is when Europe was 'born.'
Top 10 Oldest Countries in Europe (all date CE)
      France (est. 843) AC
      Austria (est. 976)
      Hungary (est. 1001)
      Portugal (est. 1143)
      Andorra (est. 1278)
      Switzerland (est. 1291)
      Monaco (est. 1419)
      Sweden (est. 1523)
Britain? Well, I didn't even look it up. Greece and Rome travelled to Ancient Egypt as they were the Mecca of civilization and advancement in religion, science, mathematics, philosophy. IN fact, Plato's works are said to have been copied from Egypt since he could not have possibly written all of those works. And he stole credit as has so much of Egypt has been stolen. Egypt wasn't indigenous but African and eventually conquered by whites and Arabs. And the Americas were conquered to with no regard of its inhabitants and their stuff was stolen. So European witches might have done it for 500 years but certainly that is not EQUAL to the indigenous people of the world.

Bells, sound, vibration and visualization are my favorite methods of cleansing. I find smoke clears out everything, the bad and the good. Out of 7 or so tarot decks, I've been working with the same Rider-Waite for 13 years. I ordered a copper bowl that sat in the cupboard for about a decade. Pyrex glass works best with me!

I use stones…..I find them, sometimes I will buy a fancy one. I’ve loved rocks since a child. I have cards but they scared me because they were correct in telling me a hard fact. 😪. which means they worked so why did I run away?
Smoke…daily smudging/smoke clearing ..for a myriad of reasons. It is just sanitary. My opinion.
Candles, oils and herbs. I make oils. Candles too….I like to infuse a candle with certain herbs.
I love bay leaf…..rose and cloves before I knew what they meant. Those are my best herb pals.
I like the idea of work with what you have. I lost my pendulum but, perhaps I may buy another.
    Your space is delightful.
I’m still figuring it all out. I’m learning to trust my instincts. One hard lesson…… don’t tell people. That is hard as it is exciting and the changes are real.
    I want to share. But I won’t.

I usually use smoke, my pendulums (this is what answers most things for me), and herbs that we grow.
I love a good incense stick! Easy way to cleanse myself and anything else! I also have several pendulums, however I only buy pendulums that call to me as I walk by. The ones where I don't have to sinc them to me, they just always work amazingly right away. Those are my favorite! And, as an Eclectic Green Witch, I use a lot of herbs for various things.... herbs, sometimes a stick will call to me, or a rock, or part of a broken egg shell I find walking through the trees. Anything with yummy energy!
Thank you so much ma'am! I shall pass this on!

  • @MatthewsLivingAdventures

I absolutely love doing spell bottles. I have never felt so much energy then when I do you spell bottle! Things seem to work out when I create them and use them.
The other thing I really liked using is magpie Oracle throwing. In the past, I have felt lost and confused in life and have never received answers our guidance to things by following other religious practices. But as soon as I started throwing magpie Oracle, I have received so much guidance and have gained so much insight into my life and have always received the right answers.
Every time I follow the guidance I receive from a throwing, everything turned out well or has helped me mentally prepare at least for the things to come. The times I don't follow the guidance received from a throwing, things don't go well and things fall apart.

I realised my path in the 90’s, and that it’s hereditary, back to my great grandma. I consider myself a solitary hedge/kitchen witch, I use a lot of herbs, resins and essential oils in my practice, as well as cords, pendulum, cards and runes. I married at Beltane, before I was ‘drawn’ back to my path (historically speaking). You can’t escape your destiny! My biggest tool however, is my gut instinct. I don’t use a wand, my finger works well enough for me. I do have a stang, from an old twisted willow we had in the garden before it died, which I take walking with me sometimes.

I guess i count as a "baby witch" but...an older more confident one. I've only done a small handful of spells but they were all for protection and happiness that I crafted myself. The most important tools I use myself are CANDLES. I always have a "working candle" lit when I'm practicing magic. Blow it out with my own breath when the spell is complete. I also use them for color magic. Salt. From epsom for self love baths, pink salt and table salt to black salt for the best protection. Incense in a holder. I use the ashes to make my own black salt. I bought some. But like most things...homemade is best! I also love dried herbs and crystals. I live in an apartment so...starlight, Incense with a cracked window and a working candle are my essentials! Love your videos!

Small cauldron where I burn everything, mortar & pestle is pretty basic for me, a bowl, yes, which I use for smudging rituals and offerings (mine is brass so I understand your approach, brass is also highly conductive!), I have multiple oracles and cards, but I stay away from pendulums because I am still not in full control of my psychic skills and do not want to open doors I may not be able to close… but I’ll get there!! And yes, I love candle power, I have a main candle to guide sessions along, two medium sized candles for ritual (one black for protection and one purple to promote spiritual presence), and smaller ritual candles that vary in color depending on what I am trying to work on. I also LOVE working with smoke, I cleanse with palo santo AND sage, but also use NagChampa incense (my absolute favorite), and occasionally rosemary.

I enjoy watching your channel. It's like meeting a friend for tea. As for my personal practice I use Eldar Fulthark Runes a lot. I also have a pair of chicken feet from an old rooster that a friend gave my husband and I for dinner, I use these whenever I'm doing energy work for either myself or a client. However I'm not limited to just the few items listed. For divination work I've used tea leaves, bones, even candle wax. Lots of my things in and around my home are for their magickal association, even my plants and dogs. I have made candles in honor of the Goddess Hecate and in them I use my dogs nail trimmings.. For me its all about what you have around you and using that vital essences for either your benefit or the benefit of someone else..

Um...Ginny? Younger witch here, but that deep blue pendulum...does it have little shiny flakes in it? Little sparkles in the stone? If so, it's actually Blue Goldstone, my personal favorite stone, and the first one I learned to use and recognize. It's always a synthetic stone, as it's an amalgamate stone made from mixing bits of copper (or cobalt, for blue goldstone) into silica glass, and then melting it into a shape. Other metals can be mixed in instead, resulting in different colored sparkles in the stones. The color of the stone itself comes from the color of the glass silicate, but brown (also called red) or blue are usually the most common. A lot of people says it's a stone of desires, ambitions, and ingenuity. Some people even say the philosopher's stone was likely meant to be some form of goldstone.

Ginney, I have a question for you, though it doesn't pertain to this video exactly..
I've always had a fear towards demons, or any type of malevolent entity really.. I experience this fear weekly, and this fear seems to have a control over me. I want to break this, I don't want to be so fearful all the time.
I figured if I learn more about them, and how to protect myself maybe I won't be so scared.
So my question for you Ginney is, being that you're a demonologist, where do you reseve the knowledge about this topic? Because I've been struggling with this.. the information you have learned about demonology, has it came from a Christian standpoint by chance? Because that's the only thing I've been able to find..

Smudging is a closed practice and a smudging ceremony is different from how you would use smoke to cleanse, so even if you completely ignore the cultural appropriation, it’s still an inaccurate way to describe your smoke cleanses. Native people in north america were prohibited *by law* from practicing their spiritualities for a very long time, and so many Native children have died horrifically in residential schools that forced them to abandon their culture and spiritual practices, so for non Native people to now use the term “smudging” (or worse, “smudge” with white sage) is highly offensive. I don’t mean this comment with any anger or hatred, and again, I know you’re in the UK so you may not have known the deeper context. But I implore you, now that you have been told, to please refrain from using the terms “smudge” or “smudging” when you speak about smoke cleansing

Good lord 🥴 people gotta find something wrong with everything. US citizen here and I can attest that it's not offensive to everyone. Wanting to respectfully practice a custom from another culture is anything but appropriation and saying it is is like a toddler throwing a fit because someone else wants to play with their toy. No one alive today had anything to do with the laws against natives in the past, therefore we should hold no guilt for it and feel like we are somehow being offensive for resonating with a practice we feel drawn to.

John Trotter Brockett's A Glossary of North Country Words, in Use; with their Etymology and Affinity to other Languages; and Occasional Notices of Local Customs and Popular Superstitions offers an etymology from German:
Smudge, v. to burn without a flame, or any appearance of fire except smoke.-Smudge, or Smush, s. a sulphureous smell occasioned by smoke and dust-close, suffocating air. Germ. schmutz, smut, dirt. ❤❤❤❤

@@titmouse31 there’s a difference between cultural appropriation and cultural appreciation. Getting involved and working to support the community, making friends within that Indigenous community, and being invited by an elder to participate and learn certain spiritual customs is cultural appreciation. Buying White Sage from a random metaphysical shop and calling it smudging is cultural appropriation. No one alive today had anything to do with slavery, but you can’t deny the fact that the existence of slavery in America still has an impact on American culture and society today. It’s the same concept. I’m not holding you personally responsible, nor do I think you should feel guilty, but you can’t deny that historical treatment of Indigenous people still impacts Indigenous people today. What does it hurt to just be respectful? Ginny herself said she was appropriating the term smudging, and since ‘smudging’ doesn’t even accurately describe the type of smoke cleansing witches practice, what’s the harm in being respectful and not using that term?
PS, It’s fine if you resonate with Sage, but there are over a 700 varieties of Sage-we’re being asked to refrain from using only 1 type of Sage that also happens to be endangered. Common Garden Sage aka Culinary Sage is not only cheaper and more accessible, but it has the exact same metaphysical cleansing properties as White Sage.

@@spazaliciousbim “smudging” is the English phrase that has been assigned to that Indigenous practice. I could dress up as a flapper for Halloween and wear a dress that jingles when I walk; however a “Jingle Dress” is an Indigenous garment used by dancers. “Wales” isn’t the country’s native name and the word “wales” can also mean the textured ridges of corduroy fabric, but if I say “Wales,” you’re going to think of the country, not fabric. Words take on different meanings beyond their dictionary definitions

@@musicfeedsyoursoul8070 Well dang, by your logic everyone who wants to practice buddhism has to move to China and become a monk.
This argument is funny because I don't even use the term smudging. I just have a problem with people up on their high horse trying to tell people they are being disrespectful for calling smoke cleansing "smudging" just because that's what they are used to hearing it called. Like that's really what someone is worried about?
Ps- I dont use white sage. I grow my own garden sage along with every other herb I use.
