There are a lot of good, hard-working people that live in the North End whom are trying to make their neighbourhood a better and safer place to live and work. People need to take a closer look at their own neighbourhoods & themselves before passing judgement. The sad & pathetic reality is that some people that live in these so-called "nicer neighbourhoods" think that their shite don't smell! There's a whole lot of ugly going on in those in "prettier neighbourhoods"!
Fucking rights, this one time I was in Island Lakes waiting to catch the 16, now mind you this is a white neighborhood and everyone is a "Good" Samaritan, fucking lies. The 16 at the time was 20 minutes away, and not gonna lie, my clothing at the time was alittle unappealing and would make it seem like I didn't belong, but it's 2018 I thought shit like that would be over and done, boy was I wrong, there were these undercover police officers that was cruising around that day, and also was a hot day too, I deicided to find some shade cause fuck the heat right? Well there was this tree in the divider of the road and I thought "Perfect!" I go sit and wait patiently, as 10mins pass by, I decided I was cool enough and went back to the bustop, I take my seat at the bench and waited, but suddenly a black car comes in the incoming lane of traffic and just rests right in front of me as I'm waiting for the bus, Two Officers! (Which I didn't know at the time.) They both come up to me and ask what I was doing in the area, I told them waiting for the bus and that they should mind their business cause why should other civilians care what I was doing, he also mentioned that I didnt belong i the area just because of my baggy appearal, and my glasses at the time were duct taped. Now I told them I had no time for this and tried walking away. They grabbed me by the arms and placed some cuffs on, now I guess they were expecting tears and plead for innocence, FUCK NO! I was furious I straight yelled at that cops face to let me go, and I told them you won't find my name in your database cause I didn't violate any laws, I proved them wrong by standing up and knowing my rights. I told them it was an illegal detainment because they didn't identify themselves until the apprehension, and that when they pulled up no lights came on. Not even to signify other drivers that official Police business was happening. I also tried to get their badge number but they just quickly flashed it and that was it. But I do have a name and that I might one day pop up in a Precinct and ask for this officers name and tell them about the illegal detainment. What I'm trying to say is, Racial Profiling is still a bitch!!!
At the same time, there's rampant vermin running around shooting and stabbing everything that moves. Don't you fucking dare pass this off on the "Nicer" neighborhoods, maybe start with your own residents by knocking some fucking sense into them.
I used to go to the Merchants Hotel when I was a kid. It was the only place you could buy a case of beer when you where 16 and pick up a dime bag in one stop. All joking aside, I grew up in the area and it was rough when I was a kid but some of my greatest memories where of the churches shown and the many family weddings. I used to go see cheap movie at the Palace and sneak in a coil of Kolbassa and a loaf of kub bread. With my friends. Things have changed.
For how sketchy areas like those are and how much bad vibes they give off, they are surprisingly comfortable for me. I used to live in the Eastern Hoods of Calgary (specifically in Forest Lawn), and I feel personally people living in those communities have a greater sense of bond and wellbeing with each other than a normal North American suburb. It's almost like, there's an atmosphere of "things may be bad, but we'll get through things, together". Mix that with the larger variety of mix-use land and just weird oddities, it overall is just more comfortable and fun living in a community like that for me. Although I must add, communities like Dover, Forest Lawn, Red Carpet, Shepard, Marlborough, etc are NOTHING in comparison to the Winnipeg North End -- but they are still similar, just more tame in comparison to the Winnipeg North End
Alright so I'm Onondaga/Mohawk from Montreal. Northside looks a little rough but you find some bad parts in every city. what a depressing area !
Not at all. The kids; teenagers rummaging through junk yards stealing and reselling for some pocket money; the family picnics. In a word, SOUL...
Winnipeg is a depressing city, PERIOD.
Very depressing.and it's only getting worse so I'm told.im glad I left
@@normanthomas9065 Ive had alot of my friends and girlfriends, and a brother and parents leave this horrible city, now Im finally leaving, you made the right choice!
Shut up!
You get out of life what you put into it. You don't put into it, you live in north end WINNIPEG.
At 0:30 my Grandmother and Grandfather used to live right next to the house on the right.
How can you be proud of a neighborhood that everyone litters?
ahaha aw this vid make me miss when i was younger .. used to terrious this hood lmfao (: good time
A lot of selkirk street, nice video!
The north end declined in the 70s
how often do people hear gun-shots who live in the north end??
i'm from winnipeg...the video made the north end look a lot better than it actually is...i think you were trying to show the bad side tho?
@leafsrule08 Where do you live?
I wish someone like dane vogel in saints row 2 would come and do a makeover of the north end, and make it safer, cleaner, and nicer.
Nostalgic Video and terrible how Winnipeg is at the same time
Moved to Calgary. Its the worst here, Winnipeg getting shit on makes no sense to me.
And to think i went from living in a 2 bedroom apartment with my mom in the northend to living in a 6 bedroom house on the south side
Funny because I don't use Listerine, don't smoke cigarettes or don't care about government handouts. You're a real genius. Mr.know it all.
Heartbreaking.💔
Everyone knows everyone i actually live near these kind of places
well when you get everything handed to you, people say fuck it,and trash the fuck out of everything...they dontgive a shit and just move some where else and freeload.lol
+happy canner im native i work fulltime with a solid job the whites do the same shit destroy shit sell are water destroy the lands so wtf you talking about
missin the north side .... |: whatta thing to miss
What's up (:
the pictures should have been taken in the summer time. it's the pics that make it look dumpy. my opinion
Kelly Borushynski it is dumpy! I've lived in manitoba for 30 plus years the north end is a uncontrollable dumpster fire
Yeah...yeah...it's bad. But why don't we clean it up? We should do it. Lots of good people here. We can do it if we come together. Maybe we need something like that. Like a community project. It's going to bring us together.
Enjoy your video
@mommy0179 i live there for a while and I actaully that place! LOL...And did you notice some of the pictures in this video isnt even in the northend either? Well, enjoy yoru sunday! :P
@aaassshhhtttooonnn There's crimes gang's all over winnipeg but this is the area (also my favorite area in winnipeg) the media likes to put on front page !!!
Home to only about 95 per cent of Winnipeg's crime activity.
damn they showed my house
Go Blue Bombers 🏈
OMG. this place looks like a dump! No one cares about how their property looks. My parents were born and raised in the North End and actually have good memories of this place. I guess this is why so many Winnipegger's pulled them selves by the boot strings and got out of there.
Looks better in spring or summer, when all the trees have leaves.
i wonder how many people saw their houses in this video and got offended.
