I don’t believe in race. I am aware that race theory has been abandoned by science for over a hundred years. If I present as curt it’s because race, though abandoned by science remains stubbornly ensconced in Canadian society as a belief system which is why I present on race and its ism. This includes all ethnic groups, mine as well, Métis and Aanishinabaek people. There are volumes of research on racism in Canada because it is a very relevant topic. Whatever I present is backed by the research which has been verified, replicated, by credible sources. I can assure you I present without prejudice.

Thanks for the comment. I remember and know all those people you mentioned. I am aware of the gangland that this place was and continues to be. Those names are all Métis names except for the Ruggle’s. You haven’t mention the Ukrainians and Polish, Jewish, Greeks and Italians, among other ethnic groups. But then that would be a lot of names to mention. You are correct, The North End had a lot of gangs before my time. They weren’t organized like they’re now. They were ethnic groups that had to protect themselves from racism and discrimination and they kept to themselves in their little enclaves. I remember listening to the old stories. I told him I know old ladies that would bury him! We have 8 year olds that would skin you alive just like you do. Not too many mass shootings in this neighborhood but per capita, I bet it’s close. I have trucker friends from Mexico and they tell stories. I can tell stories too. I’ve staggered home from Boogies, Westbrook, Stock or Lipstixx as it’s now called, even some houses all over the North End and around the city, it’s dangerous for sure. It’s worse if you’re smaller, a woman, and alone, it can be fatal. If you’re a bigger guy, even a small crew will think twice because it’s too much work to try and take down a full grown bull moose. It’s better to look for easy prey. But if they have a gun, well…you’re f*cked, you either hand over whatever they demand or you go down. If you are even medium build or size, but walk confidently, you have a better chance. I’m 5’11” and was at one time 140 lbs, I walked tall bro! But even if they came, I’m a bugger da go! I bin in more fights than Iron Mike Tyson! But I’m old now and a little more educated, maybe wiser. I don’t get out much. You have the name of a famous Métis family and you probably jig. So my story is probably your story or close to it. But you’re young. Your hood was tougher than mine I think. Hoods make you hard. So hard you don’t even notice it, you just feel regular lol. Métis people were driven off their traditional territory after 1885 Riel Resistance, fleeing west.
Métis have their own governance system that tent town people could learn from if they wanted, especially if they’re gathering in the hundreds.
We chose leaders be general elections calling them captains in the best English translation.
They led a small group of 5 to 10 families.
The main leader was also chosen by general election who led captains.

Thanks for sharing. If you have time to watch some of my other videos we would welcome that. The neighborhood is in the North End of Winnipeg. Winnipeg, like all cities and towns in Canada were segregated by race and its ism which originates in colonialism, hence, racism. Those are the words of colonizers, they are not mine. I have read history books on our neighborhood, city, province and country for 35 years and in formal study at The University of Manitoba. Polish and Ukrainian people were not as white racially as British and French but in time were assimilated into the white race. Not even French we’re as white as the most supreme white, those who invented race theory and mythology, the British imperialists. And how they hated Polish and Ukrainian immigrants. Howard Palmer wrote about it in Patterns of Prejudice A History of Nativism in Alberta “The central and eastern Europe groups most often singled out for hostility on the Prairies were two groups of peasants from Eastern Europe - the Ukrainians and the Doukhobors.”
“Initial public reaction across the prairies to the arrival of the Ukrainians was generally negative. While dislike of the “Galicians” (as they were called pejoratively) cultural characteristics caused some prejudice, ethnocentrism was not the only basis for the opposition that developed. The poverty of the immigrants upon their arrival aroused concern that they would become dependent on charity and reports of smallpox among them brought the of “Galician” immigration to an intensely personal level.”
      “One Herald editorial thundered:
What is this country coming to? Doukhobors pouring in by the thousands on the eastern slope, Galicians swarming over the central portions, and rats taking possession of Dawson City, one would imagine that Canada had become a veritable dumping ground for the refuse of civilization!”
      Refuse meaning taking a dump.

But walking is a gamble, you got a 50/50 chance you’ll make it out alive every day. Your chances go up between 9 am and 3 pm to about 70/30 odds. Most people are hungry there, especially youth, and hungry youth are desperate, and desperate people act out of desperation. It’s a mindset thing. They were born poor. It doesn’t matter if you tell them they can succeed if they try, they bin beat down so many times they come to believe they don’t have what it takes to succeed. But some find a way out. They throw that yoke off. They somehow find a way and seize the opportunity when they get it. And they launch themselves out of there.

I’m afraid Duck is correct. The more you oppress the stronger the resistance becomes. We are seeing changes high up politically because of public outcry. People can try to shame the impoverished, the dispossessed by telling them to get jobs, stop being lazy, but those arguments only go so far. The North End has been the object of public ridicule since 1890 when the first Eastern Europeans arrived, Ukrainians, Germans, Russians, Jews, Italians, Greeks, Czechoslovakian, Polish were all sent to build this ghetto between 1890 and 1970.
Many of this families have lived here for generations, working jobs no one else would do like cleaning stables, brushing horses, and later sweeping up in public schools, and later, McDonalds.
Many of those families provided for their children under very tough, very oppressive conditions imposed upon them by a racist regime of white supremacy invented by The British Empire. Not even French were safe from that legacy of hate. No, today, there remains strife within the white races even as all the European ethnicities attempted to unite under one white race. But that folded because in a white supremacy system there can only be one pure race of whiteness, all others are considered to be half-breeds.

    • @warchief6733
      @warchief6733  Před rokem

It has a history of 150 plus years as the not so pleasant side.
When the British Empire defeated the French Empire, they took everything for themselves and left very little for their enemy. But to please them so they don’t revolt, they have the French some things. Then they opened up the country to immigration and the Eastern Europeans arrived around 1890 and they’re still arriving. But in 1890, Eastern Europeans were not yet white, so they had to assimilate them into the white race. Most settled in this neighborhood, The North End.
Eastern European immigrants were not liked at all between 1890 to 1980.
Ukrainians, Russians, Germans, Czechoslovakian, Turks, Italians, Greeks, were all considered garbage or “refuse” of Europe.
They preferred British, Icelandic, Swedish, types of white as they were considered more civilized.
So when Europeans arrived, they ghettoized Ukrainians and others to The North End and The British and The French treated them with white on white racism.

They do arrive though, in full tactical body armor and with a helicopter hovering above, and they have that military style armored police vehicle they use to knock down doors.
And they come in guns blazing even if small children are in the house.
But no, they don’t come around unless there is more than two units at a time.
And always, they have a “perimeter” set up around The North End to maintain tactical and strategic control over the neighborhood.
The reason is, rich kids have cars, are more mobile, can get away, they’re harder to catch, plus, they’re rich and powerful. Even if a cop catches them, they’re likely to have access to a good lawyer and get away with shit. So they don’t bother patrolling those neighborhoods.
They hover around The North End and Central because it’s easy pick’ns.
When shit goes down, all they can do is run, and you can’t outrun a car or helicopter.

In public school the teachers hated Aboriginal kids, they were taught that we were only half human, so they believed we were half retarded (it’s not derogatory, it means delayed in medicine), so they didn’t bother to teach us anything. They just left us alone that way but they were mean bro, they said mean things about us and always used us as examples of bad kids. I always got low grades even though I handed in all my assignments, those teachers would give other kids A’s and B+’s, not us Métis, we got C’s and D’s. So we always thought we were dumb. But when we got older, we learned that they were scamming us deliberately. So, many of us went back to university as adults and got us advanced education. It’s way better than public education, but it will cost you tuition and fees.

Thanks for sharing. In The North End, we all knew about racism but if we were from there we all shared common ground. That’s how we all got along. Racism didn’t expose itself unless there was a violent conflict and then emotions would get the better of many of us, but not everyone. There were Polish, Ukrainians, Jews, Greeks, Italians, Cree’s, Aanishinabeak, Métis, not too many who identified as “black” though, but The Ruggle’s were well known. There was discrimination mostly from English or British and French people against everyone else from the 1820 to 2022 and presently still. Anyway, I know hoods coming as I do from, ah AMERICA. This vid? Nothing but a nice quiet neighborhood. I would swagger through that neighborhood in the heat of summer swinging my fists and there would be no takers. They'd hear my American accent and hide in those big ole houses. Winnipeg's North end, is a pretty tough, crime ridden neighborhood. But it ain't the worst. And it ain't the toughest. Try taking a walk down East Hastings in Vancouver BC and see the depravity and crime that infests this city of 2.5 million and then get back to me on the toughest neighborhood. Like "Scotia Slim" comment below, North end Halifax is up there as one of Canadas toughest hoods as well. Not much crime goin' on outside in Winterpeg when it's 35 below dude, especialy when your drivin' around in a nice warm car. Yes, Winnipeg has had the dubious title of murder capital a few years in a row but other neighborhoods in Canada make Whiney-peg look like a little prairie town for most of the winter months. Come out to Surrey BC or Kelowna BC and watch crime go unabated with no freezing cold winters to get in the way.
