Love the way you two are learning as you go, as not everyone shows this on the tube, so thanks for keeping it real. 😃
We're giving it a go! Thanks for watching 😄
I was jumping up and down saying "NO, do this and that" lol.
I’m sure a lot of people are! Haha!!
Cool video with your dad is a fun day and a fun enjoyment watching your video 💯😎💯❤
Well done Dad,.he knew a few tricks.
Ha! He certainly does 😉
Been looking forward to and updata. Thank you.
Sorry this one took a while... Hope you enjoy it and thanks for watching!
Turn the ignition lights on and you should hear a buzz from the fuel pump if not could be pump relay/fuse immobiliser or pump
We definitely aren't hearing anything, but the electrics are not in great shape so we'll start there before looking t the pump I think. Thanks!
Kirsty…..ding dong
🚪👀
One from Kirsty one from Hubby 😂
when you change oil filter put some oil on the rubber seal..ps this lady has the best laugh ever
We knew that trick, just didn't show it in the video. ps thanks!
lts not about the money we all spend more than we should on our cars love the videos we all had to lean an practical experience is the best way
This is very much a passion project and I doubt there'd be any profit left in the car when we were finished, even if we knew what we were doing!
It looks like an old alarm may be fitted as there are sensors at the top corners of the screen. This means there may be an immobiliser cutting power to the fuel pump and ignition so the ignition switch might not be at fault
We'll be looking at this in the next video!
That's progress. Normally you can hear the fuel pump thrumming. It's in a cage near the rear axle. Could be a bad earth? Thanks for sharing.
We're not hearing anything when we turn the ignition on, but the wiring is not looking great either 🤷♂️
Not once did anyone check the fuel pump was coming on with the ignition!! It's an old Ford! And when you put a filter on it a smear of oil on the seal will help get it off next time!
We're pretty certain that we couldn't hear the fuel pump priming, but yeah we could have done some additional checks. Also, we did put some oil around the new filter, just cut that part from the video. Cheers!
Is fuel pump running?
I don't think so. That'll be the next line of enquiry for us.
Not to be a downer but do you really understand what you have taken on with the escort as there is rust on the body shell and I haven’t seen underneath it.
Who’s going to do all the bodywork?
The metering unit on these are a nightmare to get right
I don’t think you have considered that the car’s problems to the extent they are but with that being said I wish you all the best in your future with the escort ✌️
See you have sensors in the top corner of the roof, prob old alarm and poss immobiliser..
This will be one of the next things on our list
Your car has the MFi, K jetronic fuel system on it.... what should happen is... when you turn ignition on, the fuel pump should prime for 2 seconds and stop, if your not hearing it, either the pumps dead, or there is no power going to it via the fuel pump relay.
Thanks for the info - the fuel pump definitely needs looking at. We'll be checking it out soon...
When you had the fuel filter off you could of checked the fuel pump. Turn it to the 2nd click, as you say, and see if fuel comes out.......etc....
I don't know why we didn't think of that!?!? When we disconnected the line into the K-Jetronic system to relieve the pressure it was completely dry, so that's not looking good. I'll have to try disconnecting the filter and turning the ignition on to see if any fuel flows - cheers!
@@SentimentalCarClub Glad to help. As the fuel is old it might pay to hit the bottom of the fuel tank with a small hammer. This might knock the pump so it works. Old school trick wink wink
It's an old car so I think old school is the way forward. Cheers
Did I just see u trying to start it up without any engine oil in 😮 ..that's a no no
Yeah that was a bit of an oversight 🤦♂️
Every escort had an ignition screwdriver 😂
So did my old Vauxhall Astra after somebody hot-wired it once. Problem was I'd already removed the battery 😆
Oil light measures oil pressure not how much oil
Good to know - thanks!
Drop engine out and rebuild it off the car
I think that will have to happen at some point!
