Just a reminder if some unfriendly "fan" claims other fans are "lying" about the meaning of this song, they don't understand that lyrics are always open to interpretation and everyone can take it the way they feel. Have a nice day, Jason. 😁

Nice to see you're back with more BM songs. They recently finished the Europe & UK Tour, but this song and set weren't part of it, still fans were having so much fun.
Cool to see you already know Starlight is part of the officially titled Trilogy Of Lights, a set of songs to represent the ongoing cycle of birth, death and rebirth, but fans took this set unofficially as a tribute to Mikio Fujioka, beloved Kami Band guitarist, and YuiMetal withdrawal after some undisclosed health reasons, both events in 2018, sadly.
Both love stargazing, but Mikio Fujioka died days after falling from an observatory deck. R.I.P. Mikio 🙌
Fly high YuiMetal, tomato princess 🍅♥️.
    Songs in order are:
    - Starlight
    - Shine
    - Arkadia
There are several live compilation with clips of some live performances in 2019, all of them with the "avenger" backup dancers system filling the third spot after YuiMetal left the group, in that case Kano Fujihira and Riho Sayashi are part of those clips.
Nice you got provide with this clip from BMRR, he got the full set live at Legend Metal Galaxy 2020, but there's a special version of Shine live at Legend M 2019 MoaMetal's 20 Birthday, with only the two of them performing this song, a very special and beautiful moment, once again look for the Reactor Resource to enjoy the original clips.
    See you next time 🦊🤘🔥

RIP Mikio! Officially it has never been confirmed that this trilogy is a tribute but with the lyrics and the music many fans have made to connection to Mikios u timely passing. Can’t wait to see your reaction to “Shine” and as I said, please pick the version from the Legend M show, which is truly something very special.

Great reaction! Excited to see the next two. If you haven't already recorded the next reaction (Shine), the Legend-M version is best, otherwise, be sure to check that one out on your own!
    On the "unofficial" tribute argument:
While these songs may not have been originally created as tributes, I'm sure Babymetal adapted the performances to reflect what had transpired, since both Mikio and Yui are avid stargazers. Furthermore, the Legend-M version of Shine has Moa playing the opening acoustic guitar, followed by choreography displaying grief and acceptance around the central guitar piece. To me, that reflects a tribute to Mikio in a major way, even if Babymetal does not officially announce it as such.
On the Kami Band / Babymetal relations:
While we can never know for sure, I am certain Babymetal and the Kami Band have a strong working friendship. After all, they have been touring actively with Mikio, Takayoshi, Leda, Hideki, and Boh since 2013, and both are very appreciative of one another. Babymetal for having expert live musicians to lend credibility, and Kami Band for having an opportunity to tour and perform in front of such a large international audience.
If I recall correctly, Moa took guitar lessons from Mikio from time to time. There are also video clips of Yui & Moa making faces at Hideki (drummer), and vice versa in various performances throughout the years, displaying subtle stage antics with one another. Su also jammed out and was headbanging with Boh (bassist) on stage during their cover of Painkiller and Breaking the Law with Red Hot Chili Peppers, as there was no major pre-coordinated choreography for this.
The Kami Band members themselves, are definitely very close. Takayoshi Ohmura (pink glam guitar in other videos) was Mikio's understudy, and he took Mikio's passing very hard. Kami Band did an official tribute to Mikio themselves (Hills of Wysteria). Takayoshi has also been actively supporting Mikio's family to this day and was given Mikio's guitar by Mikio's wife. There was a clip I saw of Takayoshi performing on stage with Babymetal using Mikio's guitar and then kissing it while in tears at the end of the song (I believe it was an earlier performance of Starlight, but I could be wrong).
Thank you both for sharing the joy of Babymetal! 🤘🦊

Great reaction. As you read, the Trilogy of Lights represent the stages of mourning we go through following the loss of somebody close.
'Starlight' is about the initial shock and grief.
'Shine' is about acceptance and coming to terms with the loss (I hope you will watch the Legend M live performance, that one is extra special - just Su, Moa and a guitar on stage and Moa's choreo is incredibly moving and emotional).
'Arkadia' is about moving on, never forgetting but looking to the future and better times to come.
Again as you read, and no it has never been said by anybody associated with BABYMETAL and the songs were probably not written as a specific tribute to anybody, but (and there is one person [merry Christmas Jason] who gets so angry and will argue with everybody who says this) most fans connect emotionally with the music and like to interpret the trilogy as a tribute and to think of and remember Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka (RIP) who tragically died on 5th January 2018 after falling from an observation deck where he had been stargazing.
It is hard (for everybody but that one person) to believe there isn't something in it , especially given the lyrics of 'Starlight' -
"Fly higher in the sky [like a star gazer]
Fly higher in the night [like a star gazer]...."
and the softer part of the song -
"Wherever we are we'll be with you
    We'll never forget shining starlight.
Wherever you are live in my heart
    We'll never forget shooting star."
and the Legend M performance in particular of 'Shine' would also suggest there is something in it.

    • @Grington300
      @Grington300 Před 8 měsíci +1

@@KEVINTHEWS Yes it is, you are absolutely right. As I said, most people connect emotionally with music and will interpret songs as it suits them - that is my interpretation and I never claimed it was anything other than that, but it does seem a lot of people interpret it the same way. Why anybody feels the need to argue how a song might make somebody else feel is the thing I don't understand.

Nice reaction. Su said she use to sing this song with anger. Hard to imagine her angry. But rumor has it that it does happen. Koba their producer has said that their personalities on stage changes so much that it even scares him. I think it must be that death stare of Su's. She has definitely mastered the stop you in your tracks with just a look ability. Moa can do it too. You know for like all of a half of second before she'll smirk. Because Moa has to be Moa. With that said the avenger dancer performing this is Momoko who earlier this year became an official member. From the Metal Kingdom MV we can see that Su is trying to teach Momoko the death stare. But she is the daughter of a famous comedian in Japan. So, Su might have a lot of work ahead of her on that one. In the meantime, as they near the end of this year's tour it looks like both Su and Momoko are falling into Moa's stage shenanigans. While doing more mature songs and performances like this song. Moa has found a way to be as Kawaii as ever on tour. I also suggest Shine from the Legend M concert but with just Su and Moa. They did the song twice. Not in the same show. But one as a duo and one as a trio with the avenger dancer Riho. Both are worth watching. While the fans came up with the trilogy of lights tittle. It does fit. It's true Babymetal have never said this is what the songs are about. They like to leave their lyrics up to the listener to interpret. This way the song becomes more connected to them. If you look back at many of their other songs you can clearly see this. Thier lyrics almost never use I in it. You do get a lot of we in their lyrics. Which is put of how the ONE came about. When one is all and all are one. Koba knows his musical history. I bet you never thought you'd get a Led Zep reference from Babymetal. The Foxhole is deep and full of surprises

About their relationship with the Eastern Kami's... Mikio had been performing with Babymetal for five years when he died. He was called "The God of Smiles"; remember that Kami Band means "God Band." Su was 21 when he died, Moa 20. I'm certain that they were devastated by his passing...

I've had recurrent lively debate around this because people do not understand symbolism. The song is not specifically and uniquely about one tragic loss. It's meant to be vague so that people can relate to it more easily. People can take this song and relate to it at any point of their lives, for different situations. In BABYMETAL's case, it's deeply implied that this song's inspiration comes from Mikio's untimely passing. BABYMETAL does not need and should not have to give this song one interpretation only. As intelligent human beings, we're capable of understanding where this comes from and what the meaning of this song is.
There's also symbolism in the timing of the release of this song. This song was also released on the same day as Yuimetal's departure announcement for a reason. It was meant as a tribute to Yui and to Mikio. One final goodbye. I've had run ins with people who do not understand this concept, and it's a shame. It's absolutely crystal clear without BM having to make it the official meaning of the song, that BABYMETAL, from their own perspective, were relating to both Mikio & Yui when they released that song.
It does not mean that this song is only about them. But from BABYMETAL's perspective, in that moment, it was the intended symbolism. A few years later, sadly, I've been listening to this song and relating in different ways, depending on my situation. That's the beauty of keeping it vague. People can relate differently, at different times.
But this song, when it came out, was absolutely a tribute to both Yui & Mikio.
