Seven perfect minutes in the company of a perfect gentleman.
❤
The fact that he has chosen "Punch Drunk Love", one of my favorites, and goes on to mention books and cafes has sealed my love for this amazing human.
I never expected that pick. 🤣
He is everything a gentleman should be……
That voice!
This is the best interview I've watched this year.
I adore him
Bill Nighy is simply the Best !
Bill Nighy reads Ford Maddox Ford’s Parade’s End on audible.
I have always loved Bill Nighy especially as the rock star in Love Actually when he said, 'Kids, don't buy drugs ........... become a famous rock star and they GIVE them to you for FREE! xx
So interesting, I could listen to him all day, one of my favorite actors………….Donna in Toronto
Good list of questions. This simply done format with interesting people has legs.
Riveting! I know you will role your eyes but I could sit at a Cafe in Paris and listen to you give a dramatic reading of the phone book.
No eye rolling from me. Every night, for 3-4 months now, I listen to him as Charles Paris before I go to sleep. Call me a freak 🤷🏼♀️
What is wrong with his left hand???
@@juderogers7946 Dupuytren’s contracture.
The first time I saw a Bill Nighy was in 1984 on the show Reilly Ace of Spies.
A drama about Sidney Reilly and his eventual demise by Operation Trust run by Felix Dzerzhinsky.
A Most important drama, especially in the political world today.
great interview and I like the format.
I would love to see him do the Hot Ones challenge. he would be unphased by the sauces.
A perfect English Gent. What an actor. What delivery. What superb diction.
Amazing a true gentleman ❤
Bill Nighy is such an interesting person ❤ and a marvelous actor.
I wish he was my friend so he can lend me some books and share music. He hosted three BBC radio shows and the music he chose was great!
Never meet your heroes…..!
I'd love a 6th favourite - Music!
Spicy food and Parisian cafes-can’t beat that!
Add Pink Floyd and you have my top three.
Love this guy.❤❤❤❤
I remember seeing bill once get his shoes shined at the Burlington arcade
Love the fact his favourite film is an Adam Sandler film. Totally without pretence.
He needs to do an episode of Hot Ones!
Bill Nighy loving Punch Drunk Love makes him infinitely cooler
Definitely a fun and quirky gentleman. I adore his wit and humanity.
How could you make one of the world’s most suave humans even slightly cooler?
An English Gentleman 🎩
Just love this man❤️❤️❤️.
Ok, will watch Punch Drunk Love.
Discovered this Actor rather late after watching "Page Eight". He would be an INCREDIBLE James Bond in his later years.❤
In the US Page Eight is called the Worricker Trilogy on PBS. Fantastic! I have forgotten about it. Thanks for reminding me. I have to watch it again
@@aprillesantola8057 and thank you for the "deeper" insight.
Parade is a masterpiece, the last book is sublime. A close tie with Nabokov’s best.
Words can't describe how much I would love to see him play the role of Viktor in Underworld once again 😥
He was great in that. But then again, he's great in everything he does.
I adore Bill!!
I feel exactly the same about Rome
if you missed Page Eight series he made about him being MI6 , you must watch it! I rewatch often. its that good.
YES , The Worriker Trilogy" wonderful Spy stuff, and no guns.....Brilliant, Page Eight, Turks& Cacos, etc
@@Quadrant14thanks.
Girl in the Cafe was fabulous
I love Bill Nighy and he supports my football team too. Simply perfect.
Which team ?
@@burningkiddo132 Crystal Palace. A real fan, not a glory hunter.
Class!
Bravo!
Loved him in “He Knew He Was Right”. 💕
Bill Nighy on Hot Ones next then
Just plain lovely.
Brilliant!!!
Ford Madox Ford. Assumed that was just a fictitious character in J.M. Coetzee(youth?). Good to get a summary. Lots of roaming around in Trocadéro in my youth -- mostly because my apt there was quite small, only way to breathe seemed to be outside. Brings back memories. Coffee in Paris was expensive! Actually after a week of writing previous sentences, I find on the internet about J.M. Coetzee: "He worked for several years as a computer programmer while he researched his thesis on the novelist Ford Madox Ford"
Expensive and usually not great.
Check out the Parade's End mini-series w/ Benedict Cumberbatch. Excellent.
Will do. Thanks!
@@dhalgrentv7157 Actually youTube also suggested this. Parade's end read by Bill Nighy himself! Wonderful!! czcams.com/video/XrCNGIObcJQ/video.html
A true legend
Love there Paris answer ❤❤
I just watched this....then ordered the Adam Sadler dvd, and the novel "Light'........super guy.
Sir Bill Nighy.
the GOAT
As you did such a good job of Sam Gamgee I thought you could the part of Roy Tucker in the Archers. Parades end? You can do stream of consciousness best of luck. I thought Kerouac's Vanity of Duluoz was good stream of consciousness but with a story.
Going to ask these questions next time I’m out to dinner.
Sadly, only managed to visit Paris once, so far, I agree with Bill.
The last word that I want to hear uttered upon my death bed is the word “café” out of the mouth of Bill Nighy.💘
I'd rather kiss the lips of Isabelle Huperrt...
💞
5 questions!!! Give him his own segment…
Funny we both live the same painter 🎉
He needs to go on 'First we Feast'.
Hot ones!
❤
"It's a form of self harm, I think." 🤣😄 If Nighy isn't dating Wintour, please tell him I'm available. ❤❤
Who is the artist mentioned? Edward ?
I love Bill nighy in underworld
A rake is a trickster criminal.
Was he awake or sleeping during this interview?
He's calm, erudite and dignified. Not everything has to be caffeinated Kardashian.
Thank god that's one CZcams interview for ya. Looking for toktiks? I'm sure Bill Nighy is def not a TT material))))
Serenity is a rewarding state of mind and body.
Exercise it sometimes !
Bill, I’m going to forgive the Sandler slip up. Obviously you lean into light hearted films at the avoidance of more complex cinema - Innarritu’s Biutiful ? Or The stoic brilliance of Blade Runner 2047. But alas it’s good to have clever comedic drama at one’s finger tips to open the proverbial drapes from time to time. As for books,do you shy away from the hard edge of novels like Blood Meridian ?
Are you calling Punch Drunk Love not complex? Haha. One of the most heartfelt, strange and tough film there is with PTA's brilliance and a superb Sandler performance. Hilarious
@@rigsby1454 I’ll watch it. I find Adam Sandler opaque, but then again I’m a Cormac McCarthy devotee. Not the easiest to sway towards comedic relief, but I’m open & curious to acknowledge I’m not always right :-)
He was asked for his favourites, not the best, not the more complex, not the stoicly brilliant, not the hard edged !
I think Nighy has memory loss - there is no such painting in England let alone at the Courthauld.
Be kind! Search Edouard Vuillard at Courtauld. The painting is there
Yes there is!!
@@ananana737 Be kind? Don't you think I have searched?
I'm pretty sure the painting he is referring to is titled "A Study of a Woman in a Petticoat" (1902-1903). As of 2011, it was held in a private collection. It measures 36.1 x 30.4 cm, which goes along with the size he indicates in his description.
@@patigc1 Interesting - a fair bit of sleuthing there
Since he likes heat so much, and we ALL love him so much, GET HIM ON HOT ONES! @hotones @firstwefeast
