Are you frustrated?
I recently passed my Texas All Lines Adjuster exam. I am excited to get started BUT I'm really confused about why TDI doesn't have their licensing requirements geared more towards the actual practice of adjusting? Honestly, after passing the exam, I don't feel like I would be any more prepared to be an adjuster than if I hadn't taken the course. Yes, I learned how to read a lot of different kinds of insurance policies, but with todays technology, why on earth would it be left up to the adjuster to figure out whether or not a peril is covered ? We have computers to do that rather than risk human error right? I guess I just don't understand why the material I learned is basically void of any real day to day adjusting or the investigative methods that adjusters use when they go out to do a claim. There was nothing of substance related to customer service and very little, if any, material on construction materials. There's so much focus on getting the license - I just expected to be more prepared but it's just the tip of the iceberg.😱
You’re not the first person I’ve heard say this. I felt the same when I took the exam. But, my difference was that I had 20 years of construction experience before taking this exam. I’ve already been writing estimates for 20 years. Yes, there’s definitely a gap in the training, but I think, in order to become a good adjuster you will have to study Building materials, estimate writing, and do tons of research to make yourself the best Adjuster. This will set you apart. Congratulations!!! Keep sticking to the path.
Just want to pop in and say THANK YOU for these awesome videos! Love your enthusiasm and attitude towards claims adjusting. I’m looking to break into this field this summer with my current career slowing down(residential home builder) and your content is some of the best out there I’ve found.
I appreciate your enthusiasm as well and your complements. Thanks for watching.
There’s always work for an IA as long as you’re willing to travel. Just have to make sure it’s worth it to make the trip!
You are right!
Thank you for the encouragement sir! Definitely ready to get some money! Lol
You are welcome
@@danieltheadjusterwhere does one start if they want in the industry?
@donaldjones318 that’s a loaded question but this is a good video for you to start watching. It might help you.

@@danieltheadjuster thank you also would you say the adjuster is still in high demand. I’ve seen a few adjusters say that companies are starting to phase independent adjusters out and use their workers already within the company. Any insight on that ?
@donaldjones318 I have not heard this. Staff adjusters have always handled Claims, but they will not climb roofs, due to the liability. Just remember, that there are always catastrophes, and plenty of extra work, that the staff adjusters cannot handle. This is the main purpose for the Independent Adjuster is to take over the extra work, and to climb the roofs. I think we will always be in demand, as long as we are doing superior work.
I decided to do components(commission) with Allstate raining and I cant work lol
Ha ha
Yes I’m frustrated, I said yes to 3 firms for deployments for TN. I’m hoping to goto Texas at the moment. I’m on call for going. Fingers crossed!
yes, I understand---Keep bugging them, and tell them you are ready to deploy. Don't wait for them to call. Persistence is the key!!
I was working for Ryze for a while and I found out they let me go for long claim times, out of the 27 claims I did for them. 4 of them I never got in contact with. Told the DA to send a contact letter, they never did. The claims sat and I did do a drive by on 3/4 of them. The one I didn’t was a gated community. Not sure how to explain to my boss but I don’t know how I should approach this! I’m in your group chat BTW. Not sure who I can ask for advice just due to the fact of no one I know is in the Adjusting field :/
Yes, contact with the insured is super important, and file notes every day, is super important. Can’t get behind on that. If you can’t get a hold of somebody, definitely put a note in Xactanalysis. This covers your butt.
I did put notes in there but when they reassigned jt they weren’t there anymore, I have records of texting my old supervisor though. Hopefully they can understand
If you’re in TX check out Eberls, J&D Claims, Americlaim.
One of the benefits of being a staff adjuster, don’t have to worry about down times. 😂😂😂
So true!!
California is popping right now for claims. Outside Sacramento and san francisco
Yes, great opportunity
Is it possible to do both independent adjusting and run an independent home inspection business?
I don’t know about this. I think both of these businesses have the potential to be very busy. I knew somebody who ran an inspection business, that was twice as busy as I was, and ended up having to hire people to be able to complete the work. If you are a good adjuster, you will continually get busier and busier. There will be no room for other work.
which IA firms do you work for, and which ones do you suggest starting with?
Definitely start with Alacrity, Pilot, EArenfroe, Wardlaw, AllCat,
Just look on, www.catadjuster.org And apply to everyone of them. You can’t have enough firms.
Tennessee is crazy
Great State for work right now!!! haha
Thanks Daniel for putting yourself and all your knowledge out there. I am considering a career change and pursuing this field. What are your thoughts on the company Mocat? They actually are in contact with me. Any advice you can offer will greatly be appreciated!
Welcome to the business, and you are welcome. I do not have an opinion on Mocat, as I am not familiar with them.
You might want to get on to my discord, and ask the same question.
