    Congrats on your new born. Happy to hear that you advocated for yourself. I had the same experience with my sister.... her body was telling her to push and the midwife was telling her not to....all this time she was fully dilated. She didn’t even tell my sister that she was fully dilated. It was her body that was telling her to push. That blew my mind.

    Congratulations. I had my firstborn at a hospital in london when i was fairly young. I was so unprepared, and had complete trust in the doctors and nurses. I was young and healthy but for some reason strapped up to monitors, checked several times for dilation and ultimately pressured into a c-section. My second was a surprise, but i was so traumatized from the first birth all i could think about was how the hell can i go through that again. After lots of searching and praying we decided to have a homebirth in America. It was perfect in everywhere. No checking dilation, and just complete trust in your body knowing what it needs to do. He came out within 30 minutes of me getting in the pool. No pushing, no tears. No one rushed to pull him out. We all just sat and watched him for a minute under the water. He came out healthy and perfect. If you are healthy and can do a homebirth in the future, go for it. There is nothing like it. The comfort, love and level of care is unmatched.

Idk about the UK, but here in the US, doctors dismiss black women and their pain. I can't imagine giving birth to my first child without my husband or my mom being around. • @sophiakh9590
      @sophiakh9590 Před 3 lety +1

      She likely has a lot of help, even if she says she doesn't - parents, a husband, cousins and friends. It also helps immensely to be neurotypical, not have physical health issues prebaby and be raised in a relatively stable household yourself. It's a genetic, familial, class privileged legacy she was endowed with, and she didn't choose any of that. Don't blame or compare, because you didn't choose your health issues or how you look. Not all women have to be biological mothers. You matter, which is why you should focus on your health and not society's unrealistic expectations of how a woman should look and what she should do.
