We start by showing the different approaches to navigation between the iLife A8 and the Shark RV750. The iLife A8 has a very systematic and organized approach to covering a given area while the Shark’s approach is more random. We think the more random approach is not particularly efficient. However we do point out that the RV750 doesn’t only rely on this seemingly random navigation. We have seen it carefully work its way around a table leg/chair leg and also move along a wall doing edge cleaning.
We found docking the machine to be a bit hit and miss. If the vacuum is very close to the dock it appears to recognize and it go ahead and dock. However when the vacuum is far away from the dock it seems to have a hard time finding it. As a result the vacuum may continue looking for the dock for a long time and may even run of battery while doing so.
We walk through the suggested maintenance list and report that it is perhaps more work (and costs) than you may have bargained for.
With robotic vacuums, area preparation prior to vacuum operation is a necessity. This is pretty much the same for all robotic vacuums. We found that we needed to do this preparation pretty much every time we ran the vacuum which was something of a pain. This is likely testament to my being somewhat messy and other RV750 owners may not have this problem.
We tested the vacuum on both short pet hair and long human hair. It didn’t fare that well. The front two brushes got easily tangled and while the main area of the brushroll was fairly hair-free, the edges of the brushroll got jammed/clogged with hair. In other words, you will have to clean hair from various areas of this vacuum rather frequently if your home has lots of hair to deal with.
This is a small matter, but the random-like navigation of the vacuum does not lend itself to a very “groomed” carpet look. There was a rather helter-skelter pattern on our carpets after a cleaning session.
Small debris pickup is average at best and if the unit only passes over the debris once you are likely to have debris left on your floor. In addition, this is not a good machine to use on very deep pile carpet. Pickup on deep pile carpet is poor.
Finally, we found that while the front two spinning side brushes helped in gathering some debris and sending it under the vacuum to the main brushroll, these two brushes also had a tendency to scatter debris. This is especially noticeable on smooth flooring. We provide an example in the video.
I would like to point out that I make every effort to be unbiased in my videos. If there is something about a product I do not like - I will let you know!

A lot of the things you mentioned about it missing debris happens in all of the different robotic vacuums and shark mentions in the manual that the robot will miss stuff on the first pass and it will kick stuff around but that is intentional so it can grab the debris in another location such as the middle of the floor.
I just got one and it does a good job of cleaning up my birds seed and feathers off of my floor although it does miss some stuff it manages to get what it missed.

I bought the dyson v7 because of you! Thanks for the amazing review. Is the V6 soft brush compatible with the v7?

If you mean the soft roller cleaner head that you may have received with your V6 Absolute, it will not fit on the V7. If you are referring to the combo tool (with the brush on the end) that came with the V6, it will not fit on the V7 either.
