"King's Affirmation?" If that refers to Martin Luther King, it may be off base. Granted, this view is limited, but the band members I can see are all of a certain ethnic group. Not really what MLK had a dream about.
1. Jackson state university is a HISTORICALLY BLACK UNIVERSITY. HBCU’s are universities or colleges founded to educate students of African American descent. This college is: 94% black, 2% white/international, and 1% hispanic. This isn’t some Ivy League with less than 20% of black people in it. 2. The song “King’s Affirmation” by Iniko isn’t even about MLK. In Iniko’s words: “This song is a sonic embodiment of true access to the magic that I possess. This song came to be because I was experiencing a lot of ignorance from people who chose not to see me for all that I am and all that I am capable of. This song channeled that. This song is me talking to every single person who has ever told me that who I am is not who I should be. Being someone whose very existence is a contradiction to many societal norms, it can become easy to feel like an outsider.” don’t be such a smartass next time

Mellos reaching for that same note on this song ALL season (2:30) and still haven't hit it. Why hasn't anyone told them to stop fucking taking it up like that? What is leadership doing? This isn't the JSU that I grew up loving. Tubas sound good at least.
