The fact that SU suddenly knows how to play in tune makes me happy. They traded power for sound, blend, and overall style. Now when they add power to those, they'll be unstoppable.
JSU hands down. goose bumps in the beginning and the end. Power and control on their part is impressive and the overall arrangement gives everyone a chance to shine. SU also has a great arrangement as well but JSU takes my vote.
Definitely feel like JSU or SU could be your top arrangement depending on what you’re looking for in a arrangement. SU gave you more of a musical approach versus JSU gave you more power.
Southern didn’t play it at JSU because boom owned this arrangement! Faced JSU 3 times and didn’t play it once should tell you something! Southern won this in terms of musicality, giving them the win. Jackson has the arrangement of power. Musicality has slight edge over power. Like GAMB did against us NOASB. Nobody can’t outmatch these two top tier bands in the land. 😅

JSU version has complexity and movement in the song too so I'm not understanding how people are hearing musicality in SU version but not in JSU version. Trumpets and woodwinds are doing a lot of work in JSU version. I'm not knocking SU version at all. They project power. I'm trying to hear what others say they're hearing.

This year, I found myself saying this a lot. SU had a great arrangement but didn't execute. You said it yourself, the trumpets were hit and miss. Becuae they have so many, you don't hear the mess ups as much, but being that I'm a former trumpet section leader, I definitely hear it. Sooner or later, they'll have to stop getting passes.

Exactly 💯. People on here saying SU version has "musicality" & JSU version is just loud😂😂😂. It's ridiculous. The movement & complexity in SU version is among lower brass. The movement and complexity in JSU version is among trumpets, mellos and woodwinds. Both versions deserve a 10/10.

Awesome, check out Ohio States drum major, for which he does similarities to the SU drum major.
Lastly, in 2022, ESPN ranked JSU and FAMU at two and a tie. Michigan 3 and USC was 4th.
1st place was Ohio State. Southern was not mentioned.
I started playing the piano at 5 years of age in 1962.
Southern is very loud.
Jackson State plays under control and are very precise.
Tennessee State is another eloquent band.
FAMU plays loud at times and sometimes they sound as if you are listening to a concerto.
Lastly, Google Texas Southern at FAMU. The event took place, within 5 years. The Ocean had traveled to Tallahassee. During the Friday night, the battle of the bands; to me, TSU won. Why? The drumline is a part of the challenge. The FAMU drumline quit and walked away. Victor's, TSU.
And go to the Google archives. Watch GSU dismantle FAMU at Yankee stadium.

The song progressed and became so soft you could hear the piccolos??? Also, for those talking about JSU's Power??? Its not a Power type song. Its more melodic song with ranged vocals, highs and lows..

In regards to the king affirmation battle we all wanted this year. Bro if you pay attention, southern don't often repeat 5th songs from game to game. Especially Big Songs. They prepare 5 for a game and bring something new next 5th.

Grambling's version would be hard if it wasn't so bland and prolonging parts!! I got disinterested quick!!! FAMU sound was more consistent even though it was too short but a tad bit creative. Didn't hear enough of his creativity though. Interested to see what he would've done if it was longer.

It's really about what type of arrangement you like frfr... imma give it to SU. They had more detailed undertones. You could hear it but not over powering. To me it was like a concert sound moreso than a marching band sound. And also their arrangement was done without a "classic" breakdown. JSU arrangement was 🤌🏾 too tho. SU just had more of what I like to hear in a song like Inkos musicality wise.

@@jacktwnboss601 it sounded even better to me but tbf there was a part that I couldn’t hear as well on his recording which was that elaborate run in the middle goi g into the bridge but everything else was as advertised. With that being said SU’s arrangement, dynamics and execution of said arrangement was still better imo and more like the original song than any other arrangement and I stand by that. I like the Kings Affirmation Dawg Team mix from JSU😂🤣💀it’s some 🔥but still not on the level of SU’s imo🤷🏽♀️
