How To Prune Box Topiary / Buxus Sempervirens Pruning

Today I will show you how I prune the Box shrubs (Buxus sempervirens) in my garden and show you the damage that the Box Tree Caterpillar (Cydalima perspectalis) is doing to these plants.

I know this is a year on but box is bombproof. When i first moved here i yanked up huge runnaway box and I threw it in another part of the garden. A year later i got to that part of the garden. The box had grown air roots and grew round to the earth and was pulling itself up 😮
so i made a box hedge. Every time i trimmed it every trimming i just pushed into the ground at the base. It nearly always took no rooting compound. Its bombproof.

Wow Adam - well done. Sounds really cool. I've definitely decided that these balls have to go. they've been attacked again this year. Yes, they do bounce back, but they spend so much of the summer looking moth eaten that it's just not worth keeping them. I did order some Euonymus topiary replacements online but when they turned up they were soooo tiny that I haven't planted them out yet 🤣
