When a lawyer like Tom states that he has “no opinion” of a particular nameless insurance company, you know it has to be a good one.
I knew he hated insurance companies
I work for an insurance restoration company, State Farm is the worst. Absolutely horrible
I left the US almost 10 years ago and I still remember that slogan by State Farm
I'm a student at the University where the food delivery robot clip was filmed. Those things are horrible about bumping into students/obstructing traffic, especially between classes. Also their camera array records all data (including student's faces) and sends it back to the company's headquarters. At the end of the day, I would very much rather not have the food robots than have them.
Hm, guessing since you're in public you can't get them for recording you..wonder if you could just like go block the things in somewhere or knock em over or something every time you see one, get a whole resistance for the delivery bots..lol, drop a faraday cage around em or something.
@@markfuston2714 Depends on if they are a in a single party consent state. If not, they can't record you, even in public... probably. I'm not an attorney and this is not legal advice ;P
@@markfuston2714 and this is how the robot wars begin
I've seen 2 videos of them continuing past the place they're meant to deliver to. They cannot be opened unless they've reached their destination and ceased travel, and it never registered reaching the destination. It just... kept going. And they never got the food they paid for
@@flamerollerx01 consent to record tends to not include public places, that would be under a different law. Consent to record would apply to private conversations and things that someone would not necessarily want to be made known to others, like images inside their homes that show vulnerable spots or security systems or something
Also a good reason why you need to wear a face shield AND safety glasses underneath, that man was inches away from losing an eye.
Always wear safety gear for sure. That being said when you look at the cut off wheels the one that's in his face shield look a lotttttttt bigger than the actually cut off wheel on the grinder. In any case they do blow up and are super dangerous
I just had a claim with a 2003 Toyota Avalon with about the same mileage. The estimate was $7500, so it got sent to Total Loss. Total Loss said the value was $12.5K. You would be surprised how much vehicles are worth right now, especially older cars with low mileage.
12.5k?
Wow
They wouldn't total my buddys truck because of the increased value atm
It was pretty fucked up but the frame was fine
I work in insurance and can confirm a lot of older vehicles are worth a lot right now due to national shortages of various car parts
When I was hit head on on my motorcycle I got 3500 for the bike when I only paid 1200 for it in the first place
@@joe_schmoe_420 I haven't seen a truck total in a while. A decent amount of semis do, but not pickups. I just had a '93 Dakota get repaired with an estimate of like $4500. It was crazy. I sold my '91 Sonoma back in 2009 and only got $2500.
@@chuggajr f'real doh. They moved me back to appraising passenger vehicles not too long ago, but I've been looking at powersports, motorcycles, diesel trucks, RVs, etc up until now. As far as I'm concerned, every day I dont have to call an Attorney Tom is a good one. Love you man, hope like hell I never need you.
1:27 it gets worse. You can see in the video that the lift is extended, which means it is probably in use and someone is in the basket of the lift. Now I don't know they function in regards to loss of hydraulic pressure, but I would assume she could be charged with criminal charges.
I remember hearing the backstory of this. In fact the person taking the video is the operator in the basket.
The woman kept complaining that the construction company had been making noise at 7 am every day for the last several days.
She was a night worker and decided to go full Karen instead of toughing it out like everyone else on the street.
When he said he had “no opinion” for State Farm, you know he had some bad blood
Great video man but that's not a saw its a grinder disk
An actual saw blade may have done worse damage
Cut off wheels are probably the most dangerous I own a fabrication shop and they are what always binds and explodes
@@The.Cow96 I was changing the blade on my saw today and the wrench slipped, it cut the hell out of my pinky finger

2:00 You never mentioned that a "surprise inspection" would be illegal. In fact, I think they can't agree to anything like an "inspection", but can pretend they just want to show the apartment to someone...
They are not illegal. It is based upon the contract, and possibly state. Several states only require a 24 hour written notice. So leave the note on the door with date and time, then 24 hours later showup.
Many states have exceptions for service animals. No matter if the building has a no pet policy if you have a registered service animal it should be allowed.
@@MoonLiteNite That is what I am refering to, it legally cannot be a surprise. You can also check your state's form(your state's association of Realtors would have one online) and see the list of reasons you can enter.
"Inspection for following the lease rules" is not allowed, but they can check whatever box they want.
Even worse, in California, you agree to let the landlord take pictures of anything each time they enter...
@@burlyheads All states have this exception, as the ADA is national. You can ask what they are trained for though. If they are not trained in any way, they are not a service animal.
@@MoonLiteNite My last place would do that but it was usually the afternoon before. One time, they obviously put it up after I got home because I didn't even see the notice that they were going to be doing maintenance at 9 AM until I was leaving about 7:30 AM.
F for the 2000 with 50,000. RIP you magnificent oldie.
Grinding wheels and especially thin cutoff wheels can explode. I’ve blown up two cut off wheels thankfully with no injury. Keep the guard on your power tools and surface grinders. And always use the tools properly with safety protocols.
Cut off wheels are really tricky because if you don’t cut fast enough on thick parts, the edge glazes over and binds and explodes.
The face shield one is clearly fake. The blade would definitely have cut him badly if this was real. The face shield isn't rigid.
Awesome that you shouted out the Cajun navy. My uncle helped out with them during the 2016 flood. I love our community. Hit by hurricane and the next day people are having bbqs and serving out food so it doesn't go to waste.

Mao Zedong, I summon you
I wear goggles, a face shield and a goddamn winter coat whenever I have to use a cut-off wheel.
Dang Tom, get some rest. You look exhausted.
“Like a good neighbor”……As someone who has worked in the biz, can confirm that State Farm will work harder than any other major insurance to screw their costumers. Also, your agent is just a salesman, they have no power over the adjusters.
1:04 If you're going to damage expensive heavy equipment, make sure that the person who's life you're risking isn't on said equipment, recording you....
The bro Tom out here just helping people affected by hurricanes like its no big deal.
This video was awesome Tom!! I've been super busy, emigrating to another country, and sat down today and promised myself to just watch YT and have a laugh all day. This one really made me laugh. I forgot how much I love your channel!
How is it for you? I often think of ditching the USA
@@thaloblue There are a LOT of Americans moving to Panama. They retain their US citizenship, but can get a Pensionado Visa there, that gives you residency. There are hospitals that take VA cards, and medical is much, much more affordable to pay out-of-pocket for it. Usually most just pay it, because it's less than their co-pay would be. Also lots of beachfront property, mountains if you prefer it a little cooler, and lots of rivers and waterfalls. It's 82 degrees and humid at the beach, 12 months of the year! in the mountains, the farther up the mountain you go, the cooler it gets. That being said, you have to be OK with a government that is ultra-conservative. No smoking outside, no drinking or parties on religious holidays (except inside your home, if you keep it quiet). No customer service anywhere, like we are used to. You might have to go to 4 different stores to get the supplies you need to do a simple project. I could write a book. Check out Panama Relocation Tours on YT, and they have a ton of videos to watch, and lots of information online.
I work for a food distributor, annoying my bosses until they commit fully to helping. Good to see you helping Tom

damn, Ida really just said "nah you don't need your roof. I'd look better on that building"
Tom be throwing shade at State Farm on that one with the flooded road. Would like to hear more about your thoughts and experiences with insurance companies. I work for State Farm and have very, very, rarely dealt with clients claiming we don't pay enough
Do you work doing claims or sales? I feel like being on the sales side you would be less likely to come across a situation where a client is underpaid.
That's because they blacklist their numbers so it never rings for you but just keeps ringing for the customer lol 🐀🐀
You work for satan
It depends on the claim, and the claimants. When you are dealing strictly with vehicle damage the payouts are usually fair. When you are dealing with catastrophic or fatal injury, however, the payouts are almost never enough.

This is why OSHA requires you to wear safety glasses and a face shield when using a grinder. No matter if your using a cutting wheel, flap disk, grinding wheel, or wire wheel.
They say every time someone uses their PPE correctly, an OSHA manual receives its wings....

There is nothing more scary than an exploding grinder disk I have witnessed it
Tampering with parking meters is how Cool Hand Luke wound up in a prison camp. It didn't end well for him.
I've seen enough true crime videos that I WILL NEVER GET LIFE INSURANCE EVER!
The “no pets allowed” clause is just sad imo… it would definitely be a deal breaker for me. Wherever I go, my dog comes with me.
And as a landlord, most pets are a deal breaker for me, unless the tenant is willing to pay a 25% prem on rent to cover all the extra damage and caused. Dogs kill carpet, tile, wood doors near the ground. They spill water when drinking and it gets along the floor boards causing mold. Their air gets into the HVAC system causing oders and burns through filters faster. So pricey having a dog or hairy pet.
Fish, snake, turtle, all OK, but cat, dog, ferret, sugar glider, nope nope and nope.
@@MoonLiteNite charging a fee for pets is literally illegal where I live. And so is demanding a security deposit. Tenants can and will sue if they are charged a security deposit. And quite frankly, with how small my dog is, and how friendly she is, I doubt she’d be a deal breaker to any landlord 🤣
@@river1403 People live places with no security deposit and no pet rent????
