Great rendition folks! I don't know whether to let out a Rebel Yell, shout "Hurrah for the Union!" or pour myself a shot of Jamesons! Decisions, decisions...
An ironic, but sobering admonition about warring against thy brethren, when you consider that the Star Spangled Banner & The Bonnie Blue Flag were set to old Irish tunes.
Hahahahahhaahha The Irish have done nothing but fight against each other since the dawn of time!!!! It is our humans curse that we are born to kill each other.
Actually "The Star-Spangled Banner" is set to an English tune, but I see your point. The really ironic thing is the Star-Spangled Banner itself that flew over Fort McHenry is made of imported English wool!
We are a band of Patriots who each leave home and friend, Our noble Constitution and our Banner to defend, Our Capitol was threatened, and the cry rose near and far, To protect our Country's glorious Flag that glitters with many a-star. Hurrah, Hurrah, for the Union, boys Hurrah Hurrah for our forefather's Flag, that glitters with many a-star. Much patience and forbearance, the North has always shown, Toward her Southern brethren, who had each way their own; But when we made our President-a man whom we desired, Their wrath was roused, they mounted guns, and on Fort Sumter fired. Hurrah, Hurrah, for the Union, boys Hurrah Hurrah for our forefather's Flag, that glitters with many a-star. They forced the war upon us, for peaceful men are we, They steal our money, seize our forts, and then as cowards flee, False to their vows, and to the Flag, that once protected them, They sought the Union to dissolve earth's noblest, brightest, gem. Hurrah, Hurrah, for the Union, boys Hurrah Hurrah for our forefather's Flag, that glitters with many a-star. We're in the right, and will prevail, the Stars and Stripes must fly! Their "Bonnie Blue Flag" will be hauled down and every traitor die, Freedom and Peace enjoyed by all, as ne'er was known before, Our spangled Banner wave on high, with stars just Thirty six Hurrah, Hurrah, for the Union, boys Hurrah Hurrah for our forefather's Flag, that glitters with many a-star.
(Wrong song, but) We will welcome to our numbers, The loyal, true, and brave! Shouting the battle cry of freedom! And although they may be poor, Not a man shall be a slave! Shouting the battle cry of freedom! The Union forever! Hurrah, boys, hurrah! Down with the traitors, And up with the stars! While we rally 'round the flag, boys Rally once again! Shouting the battle cry of freedom!
Many southerns after the end the civil War immigrate to my country, Brazil . Hes was founded two Cyties in Brazil ...Americana and Santa Barbara . The Lee family hes present hier .
Written by an Irishman, Harry McCarthy. It fell out of favor as a Southern tune, when ole Harry moved to Philadelphia during the war. This was seen as an act of lese-majeste by the South. Harry had the last laugh: the south lost.
The story I heard was Harry was in the South and broke and needed to earn some money quickly, so he dashed of the song and sold it to a local publisher who loved it. Then when he had the money in hand Harry headed North. Harry really wasn't for one side or the other, he was an apolitcal performer, nothing more.
God Bless the Name of Washington! That name this land reveres. Success to Meagher and Nugent and their Irish volunteers!!!
Hurrah! Hurrah! For Southern Rights Hurrah! Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star!
Then fill your glasses up my boys!
And drink a hearty cheer
For the land of out adoption and the Irish Volunteer!

Brilliant hello from Ireland ☘️👍
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star
Then raise the harp of Erin, boys, the flag we all revere
We'll fight and fall beneath its folds, like Irish volunteers
