Based on my own experience having had cats for decades, you're advice is 100% right. Currently I've been experimenting with clumping litter after switching from nonclumping type. Clumping litters are better for cats. However, no all types of these litters are the same. There's another type of cat litter and is pellets. I'm yet to use it for my cat. As for washing the litter box a minimum of once a week and getting a new one once a year is also a very good thing to do. thank you for your informative video.
All my cats love paper pellets. Zero smell, traps in odors, bad/used pellets fall to the bottom, pee is absorbed FULLY into the paper, poop can be removed without fresh pellets, etc.

Once a day cleaning minimum, makes sense, but in addition, keep an eye out on the surface of the litter. If you see poop that is out in the open and not buried, that is your cat telling you it is too full to bury. Their next mess will be on your rug or somewhere else, so clean the box when (or before) you see this to avoid that problem.
Number 6 - Most litter boxes tend to be too small to begin with. I said THWI and bought a 22" x 16" x 6" plastic tote instead so they don't feel crowded.
Mistake # 14: Placing your cat's litter box in a corner, snug against the walls. This makes a cat feel crowded. Even though litter can get flipped out between the box and the wall, it's still a good idea to leave two to three inches of gap between the litter box edges and the walls to give the cat more room, visually and physically.
My Starlight is currently sick just took her to see the doctor. She had a high fever & have worms so she's on antibiotics as I type. Her litter box is big & I use sand which she doesn't seem to mind, she wud play in the sand as soon as I put in a fresh set.. I just hope she recovers soon😭💔

Im shocked some people only scoop once a week o_0 I scoop mine twice a day and longest ever was 2 days when i was gone for the weekend and even then i set out an extra litter box… I only have 1 cat and that was TONS
I use a plastic bag for the cat sand. I clean it every day. I throw away the bag and the used sand once a week. One can buy the plastic bags at a supermarket or a pet store.
(notes for self) no scented lotter, find a texture they like (duh), scoop once a day, wash the box weekly???, yearly new boxes (we have five cats...), our boxes are huge so good, this one doesnt apply to me, oirs dont have hooded boxes anymore, were fine here (2 inches), change gradually (duh), we have six boxes and not more soace yet (no dog), we still have six boxes, be convenient (duh we six boxes)
A friend changed her cats litter trays to metal ones, is that a good idea as the base of my cats litter tray is plastic and has scratch marks. I need to replace it, do I get another plastic one or go for a metal one? As for the litter material she is happy with a supermarkets own brand, haven't had any issues. I wash her box once a week, and as soon as she has peed or pooped, I'm there.
My vet back in the early 2000’s said that clumping litter had cement in it, and that that clumping litter would eventually build up in their intestines. Is that no longer true?.
I think there are various types and the one I used before was said to be made from tofu although you can never be sure that nothing else is mixed in. Even that caused some dust clouds which while might only be tofu dust could cause issues if breathed in over a long period of time I guess. By the way, the pine pellets require a different kind of box with holes in the bottom and a collection tray underneath as the pellets disintegrate and fall down through the holes. Of course the poo causes clumps and has to be scooped out just like any other kind of litter.

The clay litter in general isn't really good for the environment. I've been using chicken feed crumbles as the litter for my cats for the past year and a half. It's supposed to be a "close replacement" to the brand World's Best, which is a corn based litter. That seems to be around $19 for a 15# bag at Walmart. Around here 50# of the chicken feed crumbles ranges from $16-20 (depends on the brand) when not on sale. It clumps up well, and if you choose, unlike the clay litter, it is safe to flush down the toilet. I've also used pine pellets in the past with other cats I had. They didn't like it unless the top layer was soft. So when I cleaned the box out, I'd get a bit of water and splash it on the top of the pellets and break them down a bit. I just used it in a regular box, with a regular scoop. I just changed how I scooped it. Instead of sifting and dumping the clumps, I sifted the powder into what was being tossed. I only had one litter box with the pine pellets in it. I had three cats and six boxes. They just preferred to pee in that one. So I didn't have to pick out other "treasures" often. At the farm supply store here, the brand name, Feline Pine is $16 for 20#, their store brand is $8 for 20#, and the pine pellet horse stall bedding (which is what I used) is under $7.50 for 40#
I'm 100% convinced this channel is ran by a cat. Anytime you see someone say 50% of something, just ignore that particular information. There is literally no way of telling what 1/2 cats prefer when they change their mind by each interaction. Cat channels are wildly different from dog channels in a lot of ways. You can really see that cat owners are really working for their cats and the cats are really human owners. Dog owners are dog owners and set the tone for their dogs who eventually adjust. Cats will simply go by how they feel. If they want to do something they will, if they don't, they won't. This is why cats will never make good service animals. P.S. I clean out the litter box after every single time I notice poop is in it or my paper pellets are dissolved due to absorbing urine. How people don't scoop it as necessary is beyond me.
