    It's a sad state of affairs when the US marques (like Buick) are getting built in Asia whilst more foreign manufacturers are bringing their plants to the US.

      I don’t know. I think Honda and Toyota etc building in America is still a win for American manufacturing. The fact that Detroit is outsourcing is sad, though.

    Just a prediction, but I think about 5-7 years down the line we are going to start seeing some very strange failures with all these ultra small displacement turbo engines. In the way that the big V8s in the 80s cars just chugged along with very little stress, I feel these engines are undersized and overstressed from day 1. Not saying anything about Buick or GM specifically, it seems this trend is becoming more commonplace across the board in pursuit of better gas mileage and lower production cost.

    • @bwofficial1776
      @bwofficial1776 Před rokem +10

      I feel the same way. If you look back at the last 10-15 years, many small-displacement high-boost engines have become known for failure. Not just GM engines but Ford and Fiat-Chrysler as well.

      Agree. I rented a 2023 Encore for 3 weeks. It had about *45K miles* on it and that little 1.4L turbo *engine was certainly getting rough* around the edges. That's because to make it go with alacrity you had no choice but to floor it.

    • @666cemetaryslut

    The design is their new corporate design language, based on the Buick WildCat (I think that's the name) concept. The new Envista (based on the recently redesigned Chevy Trax) also has a similar front end design, and it's expected that the Envision and Enclave (seriously, what's up with Buick and "EN" names?) will get this design at some point in the future.

    I'm already rubbing my hands together counting my sheckels, once these babies chew up the turbo at 90k miles and grenade the motor I'll be changing 10 of these a month. I'm already getting at least 4 or 5 Chevy Malibus/Cruze with the 1.4L/1.5L turbos with bad turbos/motors as it is now not to mention those chrysler 3.6 motors that pop heads if you stare at them the wrong way. Thank you GM/Chrysler you have kept me in business for the foreseeable future 😈

    • @aamirqz
      @aamirqz Před 11 měsíci

      I knew the 1.4L Turbo engine in the Cruze is problematic, but is the 1.5L Turbo engine in the Malibu and Equinox having problems as well??? I was thinking of taking a look at an Equinox or Terrain.

    • @jimmyjimjims7483
      @jimmyjimjims7483 Před 11 měsíci

      @@aamirqz The 1.5L found in the Malibu, Equinox and Terrain is having similar issues to the 1.4L. Mostly bad turbos, premature failure of timing chains/guides, PCV issues, and electrical gremlins in the amps and brake booster pumps. They also develop significant blow-by at fairly low mileage. I just did a transmission on a 2018 Terrain last month at 88k miles as well. Depends on your needs but Hyundai/Kia has come a long way in 10 years and provided you maintain them well my customers seem to like the Kia Soul a lot. The Toyota Rav4 and Honda HR-V are also popular and very robust, we don't have much complaints about those mostly Chevys, Fords and especially Chrysler products...

    • @aamirqz
      @aamirqz Před 11 měsíci

      @@jimmyjimjims7483 Thank you for the info. I was also thinking of looking at an Encore GX but I suspect that both 3-cylinder turbo engines might eventually have problems as well. I'm not big on Hyundai or Kia from 2011 onwards, their GDI engines seem to be troubleprone. Theta II engines in the Sonata, Santa Fe, Optima, etc. fail prematurely. Most importantly, they are massive theft magnets in my metro area. I drive a 2010 Camry with 162K miles and an engine that is burning oil, so I'm just exploring my options at this point.

    • @jimmyjimjims7483
      @jimmyjimjims7483 Před 11 měsíci

      @@aamirqz From my experience those 3 cylinder motors warp heads at about 80k miles, very common issue in the Ford EcoSport with the 1.0L turbo. If you keep adding oil to the Camry and check it frequently (assuming its the 2.4L 4 cylinder) it will probably do 220k miles or more and I would honestly keep it until its dead, those are amazing cars and still hold great resale value (I have a 2007 with the same issue). I understand not wanting to get the Kia/Hyundai due to their known engine problems, mostly the result of improper oil change intervals. The book says 7k miles per oil change but realistically you should change it every 3.5k miles on those GDi motors or they carbon up the valves. I'd personally recommend a Toyota or Honda product but I'm very Toyota biased (my whole channel is based on fixing Toyotas) so that's just me but I've great luck with them over the years.

    • @aamirqz
      @aamirqz Před 11 měsíci

      @@jimmyjimjims7483 Yeah I've been leaning more towards holding on to my Camry for at least another year. I'd rather not rush into getting another vehicle right now, given the high prices and interest rates these days. My car has the newer 2.5L engine. The 2007-09 Camrys have the older 2.4L motor, which seems to start burning oil earlier in its life relative to the 2.5L I had to put in two quarts of oil in between the two most recent oil changes. That's about one quart every 2.5K miles., which isn't too bad. My mechanic was saying it'll be fine to keep driving it for now, but if oil consumption increases to one quart every 1K miles, then it might be time to move on to something else. BTW I will check out your channel, thanks for the tips!

    I said this yesterday on Tedward's video, I don't think Buick moving downmarket is going to work out. They barely sell vehicles any more and still have the reputation of being the retiree's brand. You can get a Chevy or GMC for the same money with the same interior materials. You can get a Honda or Toyota for the same money with better quality. Cheap and historic luxury brands don't really go together. It looks good but it's GM meh. These will be lease specials and the rental car upgrade. I don't think GM-USA knows what to do with Buick any more.
    I also question the long-term reliability of a small-displacement high-boost engine, especially so when you're going to have to flog this engine to keep up with American traffic in a heavy crossover.
