    ABOUT THE THREE QUESTIONS WITH ANDY RICHTER
    Host Andy Richter asks the same three questions to each guest: Where do you come from? Where are you going? What have you learned? These three simple questions, when answered honestly and thoughtfully, are enough to provide a pretty complete picture of who a person is. The answers are what Andy always wants to know about people. This will not be a one-sided process, as Andy won’t shy away from getting personal himself.

    Such a great point Andy brings up. I feel like so many people don't even comprehend that when someone is in the public eye, especially a comedian, they wear a mask that is for lack of a better word "domesticated" just like everyone else does when they go out in public. It is impossible to be truly creative when you hamper your own thought process with burdens like morality or public perception. that has always been the case but I think that people used to be more aware of it. Maybe it's because social media, the internet, 24 hour news, cell phones, the information age in general means that the walls between not just celebrities, but everyone and their private lives are increasingly transparent or even knocked down and the lines blurred.

    Another example is Christopher Guest. He is one of the few comedic actors who leads a very serious private life. People have asked Jamie Lee Curtis if he is as funny at home and she says no because he treats humor as his occupation and chooses to not bring his work home with him. There is also the fact that in addition to being Christopher Guest - Hollywood actor, writer and director, he is the current Baron Haden-Guest - a British noble.

  • @flutieflambert
    @flutieflambert Před 6 měsíci +2

    What a shame it is that Conan (and others) are the funniest in private. I think that’s due to the profit motive and the need to appease an audience. When comedians and artists are afraid of telling their audience to go *f* themselves that really limits the depth and power of their comedy/art (not to mention their moral fiber). Profit can be extremely chilling of free speech, art and doing the right thing. Hollywood turns out drivel because their gargantuan monetary investment makes them risk averse. No investor today would ever take a chance on an artist or comedian as revolutionary as Hendrix or Lenny Bruce. And America is dumbed down and deprived because of it. What a shame that Conan doesn’t give us his best.

    • @TayWoode
      @TayWoode Před 6 měsíci +1

      My guess would be that he says a lot of stuff that most people say in private but would have certain people screaming for him to be cancelled if he said it on tv and heaven forbid someone got upset. Probably the complete opposite to people like Jimmy Kimmel or the The View

    I am pretty sure he speaks without accent when he is completely out of character the way he uses his German accent is not entirely organic.
    Just shows how much of an effort he puts into maintaining this character.

    • @athmaid
      @athmaid Před 9 měsíci

      Yeah in the region where he's from (Erlangen in Bavaria, southern Germany), people tend to have a different accent when talking english as well. And him having such a heavy accent wouldn't fit his vast vocabulary and time spent in english speaking countries either
