One of my favorite things about this is about how multiple times they just forget (or choose to ignore) the dva vibing in their backline turreting at their heads

That's why you just won't make it out of Bronze/Silver ranks as a support unless hard carrying.
People will literally not react to being shot. They will get damage, be shot in the back, have the screen *telling* them to turn around but won't do it. The tunnel vision is strong in everyone when it comes to those ranks.
I had team mates, where I was convinced that they must be blind. Like actually sitting in front of their screen without eyes just guessing what to do by sounds. I don't know what it is. Turning around just isn't in their repertoire and as a support you kinda rely on your mates protecting you, so good luck...

There are two ways to play Widow. Stand wherever you want because you'll rip their face off if they do anything or stand far back and just deny space. I think most people don't realize that if you can stay alive and rattle off shots (preferably with hits... but hey) and deny sight lines you can still get a lot out of the character even if you don't hit every shot.
As a pretty bad Widow it always feels good seeing the other team scramble to stay out of sight when I've hit maybe 1 and a half shots

im obsessed with the enemy dva, she's just doing her own thing and its working way too often somehow
I also love this guy completely forgetting he has sym turrets for the first half of the sym play.
He also very rarely used his sym Tele and didn't seem to know how to rotate his shield.
This was bothering me so much and when he did place turrets it would just be right into their bullets.
That is not WHY they were saying to swap. Telling a certain characters is pretty much automatic for a lot of people. I guarantee that kiri's thought process wasn't any more complex than "we're losing and we have a widow." Your insight on positioning aside.
It's always this at bronze. Even back when i played ow1, i got told to get off zarya despite the fact that we were doing pretty good
Emongg is trying to give bronze players a top 500 logic for hero swap reasons, meanwhile it was more like once upon a time they lost a game with 1 Widow and decided “never again.”
I get what you're saying but in this case you can see the widow's supports constantly trying to get to the widow to heal them. That frustration probably boiled over.
This. Idk why it's a hard concept to understand, but really the thought process is super simple. "1. We appear to be losing. 2. Which hero at a glance would seem likely to underperform. 3. Blame the person playing that hero, all insight be damned". Or just a case of feeling like frontline pressure/damage is lacking, then asking the person with least apparent frontline presence to swap (in this case Widow for Reaper).
To be fair, I doubt there is a single decent widow in bronze. Otherwise they wouldn't be in bronze.
Certain characters are just harder to get value out of at a lower skill level. Widow, lucio, ball etc. Those picks would always be throw picks in bronze
@emongg its not even that complicated... people don't want widowmaker on their team until high gold because widow players below that level struggle to hit head shots unless the target is standing still so they get low value and they arn't very effective at contesting objectives which bronze players obsess over more than high ground control.
This. Also applies to Ana, when I was silver I was heavily distrustful of any Anas we'd get for similar reasons.
Always give your teammates a chance, they might surprise you. There's still time to kindly ask for a swap if things don't work out and if they refuse to swap, that's just how it is then.

As someone who used to play widow in bronze the most painful part is watching bronzes fail to focus on anything for 90 games in a row until the widow shows up and then they all become the most tunnel visioned bloodthirsty savages you've ever seen
It’s baffling to me people understand team comps, watch CZcamsrs, and argue with teammates and lose to DVAs playing their first game ahahaha
Especially against velociraptor DVA, who I can't help but cheer them on!
This is exactly why we have so many people saying "I have sooo good stats all the time but I keep losing, team's fault!! Matchmaking sucks :(((((". This is why. Even with their great stats, they still manage to throw every advantage they gain even to someone as bad as a genuinely brand new player, for no good reason other than lack of discipline and general awareness.

Dude this person can literally just one-trick Sym and get out of Bronze in like a season or less. No problem. Not because they're skilled in general, but because a natural byproduct of sym is that they play in a way where their mistakes are harder to punish, and they have more consistent value by default. The two main ingredients to climbing. Straight up, if you wanna get out of bronze become a Sym one-trick. No magic to it.
Just focus on a bit more proactive uptime with the turrets, and use shield wall to split enemy team rather than shield off your team = ez profit
Boris is such a chad tank. Who needs to shield when playing Rein? Who needs to shoot your Dva bomb in with your boosters when you can just plop it down on the floor and get 3

I’d tell that widow to switch too. You’re a constant target and you have nothing to offer but a target. The widow hits 1 / 10 shots which means no pressure which results in your team getting rolled if they didn’t already dive and roll the widow to begin with. Like the Kiriko that literally saved the widow and gave her own life to get the widow out (during the last point in defense when emongg asks how they keep getting out alive) literally because the Kiriko gave their life to get the widow out.
No pressure at all. And all the resources go to them for what

Exactly, for their level those shots are great! There's no need to phrase it so badly. I'm bronze 1 and it's a completely different games than these I see here. Bronze can be just as diverse as other metal ranks.

Here's the thing though. Yes the targets are easy, because the movement sucks. But the aim on a bronze player also sucks. You have to understand that boths sides are bad, so for a bad player those are indeed good shots.
It's not like this Widow is Diamond and should hit shots like this or else it's embarrassing, it's that a bronze Widow hitting *anything* is already impressive enough. Widow is an incredibly hard character to start out with when you're a new player.
Source: She was the very first character I played in my very first game of OW, without any FPS experience and I had under 10% accuracy or something like that...

Bro the widow missed more shots than me and I have nerve damage in my right hand😂, I would’ve told them to swap too, 1 headshot and 10 missed shots isn’t really helping in team fights. Think the kiri was right on this one.

I was the Tank in this match hearing Emongg trying to say Kiriko was trying to ask her to switch to play better made me laugh because thats not what happened at all. Since the get go Before the match started Kiri was asking our widow to switch because she didn't like widows and most widow are trash when theu play with her. I will say our widow did extremely well in the match but the Kiri kind of got annoying in the VC when constantly bashing the widow before being like "Oh finally lets just hope she's not dogshit with sym" when she switched. I swear man Comp lobbies are something else LOL
The main thing is yes, in lower lobbies if you’re there it’s probably because you’re not the best. And if they see you pick widow, this means you lack any means to survive on top of complete lack of pressure because they hit 1 out of 10 shots.
Yeah the game only tracks aim. It doesn't even care that one person has 2000h in the game and another 5h, so some characters are automatically a bad pick in bronze and silver. Widow, Cas, Ashe, Ana (missing me standing still in front of her), everyone knows you're not gonna hit shit 😂 Very rarely you see one actually doing smth
That's the issue: In lower lobbies, so many are concerned with what everyone else is doing. You're playing with randoms. The "right" way to play any online shooter is to do your best and not concern yourself with what your teammates are doing.
If you think someone needs to swap, sure, say it. But if they don't, just leave it alone.

as a widow and symmetra main, that did hurt to watch
as a widow main 2 things.
A) aim is ok, could probably use some aim training, generally flicking your aim around like it's nothing generally wont get you the kills just waiting for someone to walk into your cross hair will. I get it, panic aim, but panic aim will only get you 1-2 kills minimum with out having to refire/reload.
b) obviously positioning, you do not want to be that close ever, generally I avoid widow on royal after a certain mark on defense, after they reach the second checkpoint is where I switch to ashe, mei or even junk rat typically because that last area is hell if the enemy team has gone even a meter into that area with the payload when your widow.
Reaper was not a good switch option, honestly probably would have been worse then widow considering he is strictly close range, and they got a hanzo, sym and moira and I believe one switched to echo at one point, terrible idea with sym and echo in particular. they had a torb, honestly to melt the DVA bastion or soldier+ the sym swap was excellent against the DVA too . As they also had a mercy that could of been handled by a good soldier ult or play. Reaper really wasn't the pick and the kiriko honestly was weird for suggesting that hero of all things lol

As a Sym player, I have some tips as well!! Mei’s wall charges your beam like shields. It eats your ammo but you’ll level up your beam to take those engagements!
And for a quick escape, I’d practice putting down your TP. I use it to escape bad 1v1s and any traps I might be in.
(Also you can have your turrets in the same area but not the same spot please!) Sym turrets have like very little health that a melee will get rid of them immediately so place them in different spots in an area so they’ll have to look around to find them!

As someone who is also pretty inconsistent on widow, they probably came from COD or something and are used to ground level, quick scopes which would explain the aim, and refusal to play high ground and back
