Dear Nathaniel,
Roughly a year and a half ago, I was a lost and scared teenager, bearing the pressures of school, family and my future. I didn’t know where I was supposed to go. I was a freshly polished and delicate vessel headed through a sea of fog.
I had sent an email to you asking for advice on finding clarity in my future, and you replied. Your words on living life as though you are experimenting with it, had stuck with me from that day onwards.
Despite a difficult year, my high school life is coming to an end in a few months, but because of your inspiring work and wisdom, I have a direction. I have strength and a raw passion and curiosity for life.
You have changed my life more than you realise. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Ok boomer
Slam_24 what did he actually say to you?
Hey. I hope you're doing well now!
I would just really appreciate if you shared what he told you as I am kind of in a similar situation. Stay safe❤️
That is beautiful! This example of touching other people souls is so inspiring! I'm very happy for you!
Keep at it. Good luck
"Be Interested, not Interesting"
what about both?
@@steffenblok1529 to be interesting, you have to be interested first :-)
@nyctophil if you are concerned with being interesting, that says to me you require validation from others. If one is truly content with oneself, one need not show his worth. He knows his worth.
Social anxiety trigger
underrated comment
I read that someone’s therapist told them “you don’t have to be hopeful about life, or the future, it’s enough to be curious about it” I think that’s really helpful also if you feel down in life
It is. It truly is
Thankyou for this
amazing
Thats a positive outlook. However, I cant muster up curiosity let alone hope or interest because I know the likelihood of what my future will bring and its not good. Its hard to be curious about misery.
This is both visually and ideologically appealing.
Agree !!! So pretty
He tells you important things that could change the way you see the world, but he manages to make everything look so cool and poetic, every video that he makes inspires me to improve myself and that's why I like him.
Damiano Casula agree
Curiosity is a practice, like most things, and can become a lifelong habit if we try. But oh how it takes the energy out of me.
100% agree!
so true!! but it also makes you feel more alive
Dude stop, it doesn't really require practice.
It's the natural state if you don't get too anxious or depressed
Just learn to chill and observe
@@ritishmadaan4516 comes more naturally to some than others. And over the years I've found myself becoming less curious or inquisitive about things. Everything.
@@ritishmadaan4516 Correct me if I'm misguided, but your advice to "just learn to chill and observe" seems to be a way of practicing curiosity. As I've grown older, I've become less curious - and I'm still very young. It's my view that as we age and become more familiar with the world, the novelty of being where we are wears away. Because of that loss of wonder, if we're not careful we also lose our sense of curiosity. We become more set in our ways. To stay inquisitive through our lifetime is to actively combat this natural, cognitive hardening.
It's like Nathan always predicts what's going on with our feelings currently and he just makes the accurate video for it haha. What an awesome video, thank you!!
exactly!
I think it is youtube that brought to you here, as youtube knew you needed something like this to consume :) .
Yes! Every video I watch from him describes what I'm feeling atm
Totally! It makes me wonder if there is a pattern in everyone's life?!
Maybe because you are acquainted with his beliefs and have been following him for a while, you are pretty much undergoing the same journey as him
The key to a more interesting life is to be more interested in life. I like how things are simple, we overthink too much. :)
Well said! :)
Exactly

When I watch old people I always wonder about their lives and how they got to that age. did they struggle? was it a happy life?
I do this all the time too!
Never is "always happy". We all have to learn that every people struggle in their own way
Ask a buddhist
Same here. Or what they looked like and thought about their future. Did they feel like I do know even though its a different era.
Hello gaby If you have a question about life and don't find the answer, I suggest reading the quran, maybe you will find the answer

“Curiosity killed the cat..” is only one part of the quote ..”but satisfaction brought it back”
@@MyNontraditionalLife the satisfaction that you get after getting the answer for what you were curious about.
oh wow, never knew there was a second part!
I’m going to make my own quote based on this ‘Nosiness killed the cat but curiosity brought it back.’
I think when people say the first part they mean someone is being nosy. Not the same as being curious although some people are both.
@@DrawingsFromAnna These "second parts" are almost always made up, they're just used to get help rid of the dumb ideas of the first part that was the standalone saying. They're helpful, it's not good to always listen to sayings.

Sometimes it’s so creepy to me how similar we are.

Sometimes it’s so creepy to me how similar we are.
Creative Name100 curious. Always.
Curiosity is what keeps you seeing the magic in the world that we naturally do when we are young. To be an old soul but young at heart, let that inner child play everyday.
totally agree :)

"if you're curious enough about something, you'll find your way" i think in many cases this is very true
This guy helped me get out of a very dark place and inspired me to start my own channel. Thank you bro.

Amazing bro!
By the way when did you start your channel?
Wishing nothing but the best for you!
@@DarkKnight-em8rm In May this year.
@@MichaelMSwart Thank you so much mate.
It seems like all creatives/ artists people watch. We learn so much about ourselves simply by observing others.
Learning never ends! It gives life meaning.
Amen to that 🙌
sometimes only
No it doesnt. It gives you a distraction from reality
I think curiosity can change how you see the world. It's beautiful. The more you question, the more you understand how complex the world is (and how little you know). Beautiful video ❤️
This video doesn't just have a great point, but the way you present you content has definitely improved (beautiful scenes, motions, colors, sound.. everything is so well composed and produced, top-notch!) And congrats on 1M subs, well deserved :)
*This reminds me of the journey into the wondrous world of philosophy I embarked on back when I was 11 and read Sophie`s World for the first time. The concept of curiosity is exactly what he was talking about through the voice of the teacher in the book, warning for Sophie to become world-weary. Great message, great video man. I`m with you and now - 12 years later - I try to remind myself to stay curious as often as I can, following the words I read so many years ago.* I`ll leave this quote here from Sophie`s World:
“To Summarize briefly: A white rabbit is pulled out of a top hat. Because it is an extremely large rabbit, the trick takes many billions of years. All mortals are born at the very tip of the rabbit's fine hairs. where they are in a position to wonder at the impossibility of the trick. But as they grow older they work themselves even deeper into the fur. And there they stay. They become so comfortable they never risk crawling back up the fragile hairs again. Only philosophers embark on this perilous expedition to the outermost reaches of language and existence. Some of the fall off, but other cling on desperately and yell at the people nestling deep in the snug softness, stuffing themselves with delicious food and drink.
'Ladies and gentlemen,' they yell, 'we are floating in space!' but none of the people down there care.
'What a bunch of troublemakers!' they say. And they keep on chatting: Would you pass the butter, please? How much have our stocks risen today? What is the price of tomatoes? Have you heard that Princes Di is expecting again?”
Such a classic. Loved that book.. I read it as a teenager
Im currently reading Sophie's World and im loving it! Its such a great book!
@@ambrosettichannel975 Enjoy!!
So basically: philosophers are grown kids, who never let go of their curiosity.

I'm the 100th like
You can learn so much from other people! Love talking to older people on how there life was and there way of thinking. Lets learn from each other!
Oh yes! When I was younger, I was like “nah, u don’t understand, ur too old” but now I’m like “SHARE WITH ME UR WISDOM PLS” 😄
What is the most profound thing u hv learned from elderly people?
I’m from the UK and it never ceases to amaze me how it’s still light after 10pm during summer
This moved and resonated with me so much that I had tears streaming down my face. I‘ve been feeling anxious and sad and empty and regretful and lost and this makes so much sense and was very comforting to hear; it really gave me hope. I particilarly liked the ‚experiments’ mentality and will try to apply that to my own life:) The idea is so clever and beautiful and the accompanying video supports it so beautifully. God bless you for putting this light into the world ✨
The B- Roll in this one is particularly beautiful
Man, the music, the animations, you... the quality of this video is absolutely stunning! That "s p a c e" thingy was awesome, as well as the animals in the beginning, the lock and key etc. You are by far my favorite CZcamsr right now and you definitely overtook Matt in terms of topics and personality.
I’m so appreciative of your journey and your projection of things you’re learning and growing with. I feel so alone sometimes being a deep thinker who thinks into EVERYTHING but your consistency in challenging the everyday is truly inspiring.
So thank you.
Congratulations on a million! Im proud to say ive been here for a while
You're an artist. The quality of these videos is crazy!
I simply learn something new every time watching your videos. Keep it up brother
same here :)
I just discovered your channel today and I have watched a few of your videos. Your way of thinking and asking questions is a breath of fresh air. I have been in a bit of a rut lately and you have helped me find that spark to get back going. For that, I thank you. Keep exploring and asking questions. Cheers.
Can't stop watching your videos Nathan. You're such a good communicator
It's so strange and weirdly satisfying to see another human being in other end of the world dealing with the same questions like me. Your insights and thoughts are highly relatable and relevant. Keep up the good work nath🦋
This video is so inspiring, I wanted to fall back in love with learning because I always loved learning but school made me hate it. It is my focus for this summer.
Same. Our school system is a disaster
I always appreciate how thoughtful your reflections are and how truly insightful your videos are. One of my favorite content creators:)
I appreciate a lot how you talk about enjoying the little things in life that are often forgotten. It is with your impressive sense of humility that you explore the world around us in a "series of experiments" in yet another great video... Thank you Nathaniel !
You might not be aware, and I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way, but thank you so much for being there for me❤ everytime you make a video you help soooooo much with putting things in perspective. Please don't stop🙏🏼
"I think curiosity is what makes life worth living" That's it!! That is ittttt!! Thank you!!
hey nathaniel thank you for making these videos and being yourself and caring about other people. you're different than most people in an amazing way. i've been going through a rough part of my life where i'm completely uninspired and unmotivated to do anything and it sucks because a year ago i was killing it and on top of the world, anyways i bet you're not going to see this but thank you- you've reignited something in me that i've been trying to find. seriously you and your videos mean a lot to me thank you
I needed this.
So badly.
I don’t know how you do it, but you always seem to create a video that I need to watch and carefully listen to for the betterment of my life, or mental health. Thank you.
"One of the things that make humans is curiosity."
Don't waste this superpower!!
I heard this in an interview with a person suffering from chronic depression. When asked why she still kept living despite feeling suicidal, she said she was curious to see what would happen the next day. And now I’ve adopted this way of thinking too 💜
That's very helpful for me. Thank youI
You manage to express so many of my thoughts into words or visuals. I always love your videos.
Can't get enough of your beautiful shots, editing skills, soothing voice and deep message! oh and that smile too!
We should be curious all the time, in order to learn about the world around us and to expand our way of thinking. Great thoughts! 😊

Curiosity and willingness to learn from things around you is a great way to live life for real.
Thank you! A beautiful video and awesome message!!!
dude, thank you for providing videos that give those of us who are going through similar experiences a meaningful lens to understand these things.
Now that I’ve graduated from university I’ve wondered how to continue learning post my formal education. Thank you so much for inspiring me to continue and persevere with my lifelong learning journey Nathan ❤️
Also, thank you for giving me that little push to ignore fear and put myself out there by starting my own CZcams channel 🥰
Hey! Nathaniel is truly amazing, he’s inspiring people on so many levels.
I just stopped by ur channel and saw that u made videos about Thailand (where I come from) I hope that ur truly enjoying ur time there. Which is ur favorite place??
@@MindNow I agree!! Absolutely fell in love with Thailand! My favourite place is Khao Sok National Park!! I've got a video about it coming on Monday
Aside from your message, love the lens you used for that radially blurred footage
I am so much thankful for coming across your channel. I’ve been inspired by your outlook in life and I swear I’ve learned so much from binge watching your videos. Greetings from the Philippines! I hope to get to meet you someday.
dude you NAILED IT! I've been thinking this same thing lately. Stoic philosophy coupled with intentionally detaching from media (dopamine detoxes, etc.) has been changing my life. I am fascinated again for this first time in forever, because I'm not constantly consuming, and my mind is able to produce novel ideas.
"If you are curious enough for something, you'll find a way"

Incredibly thought provoking. This is a piece of art ♥️
A sincere Thank you Nathaniel ! Your videos are a thing I look for when I feel down or in a similar mood. Your words come fro, dozens of reads and years of curiousity leading you to who you are today! Thank you and keep inspiring
This was easily one of your best videos yet Nathaniel, truly inspiring. Thank you
Your videos usually seem to spark a positive feeling in me when I need it. That spark pulls me from a “stuck” place, which could be boredom or something darker. Thanks!
Damn beard on point man I’m jealous 😂

Every time I say this is my fav video of yours, I find myself inspired by another one. But I can relate to this one a lot I could listen to it over and over.
Hey Nathaniel at 3:10 there’s a glitch I guess it’s caused by the Adobe Premiere Pro exporting problem I experienced it as well. Just to let you know.
I actually thought it was intentional, like a part of what he meant with his message. If otherwise, It quite filled the video with an unintentional glitch that can be viewed just as part of it

Well like Bob Ross said: “There are no mistakes only happy accidents” ☺️
Jesus is there a glitch in there? that seemed smooth and intentional

The moment when you start to be curious about your own life, and yourself is the moment that will completely change you.
Whole my life I've been comparing myself to others. I've always been interested more in others lives than in my. Why? Because I was so unhappy that I was so scared to deal with it. I escaped in social networks, in smoking, in doing things that effected my soul and my body. The biggest twist happened when my phone has been stolen. I had plenty of time, and I didn't know what to do. I had to be present in my life because I didn't have where to escape. That is the moment when I got face to face with my reason of being unhappy. So I started to question myself why. After so many q's and possible a's, I found the answer. (And that is not escaping or ignoring the problem. I found the way to cross it and solve it. First step is to accept the problem, and then deal with it.)
Ps. I am bad at English.
So true. I guess it was a helping hand that your phone was stolen. I blessing in disguise :)
The first shot made me think of the movie Inception , those kids seemed like his children!
Omg so much lifted my mood. The content you make. Shows an easy perspective
And brings back hope. I can't explain in words.. But thanks
