- Today Gift and I are invited to our new friends house to celebrate her daughters 14th birthday. While there l, we get a tour of her beautiful Italian house. For the first time in Gift’s life she got to see a real fireplace. Gift is really loving Italy and said that she would move here if we could. Stay tuned for our next video when we visit Venice.

I love Italy. I originally came from Thailand but have been living in the US 49 years and prior to that we lived in Desenzano, Lake Garda, northern Italy for 3 years. We loved living in Italy, loved the people and their food. Since my retirement from the US government in March 2010 we’ve been back to visit Italy every other years. We were there for two weeks in December. If I had my choice, I would have loved to retire permanently in northern Italy. I know why Gift would love to live in Italy. We’re going back to spend 1 month in Italy, September 2025. Enjoy the rest of your trip. We love Prague and I think you would love it too.

Sicily is very nice, especially Catania, but I prefer northern Italy as as it’s very central to many historic cities such as Venice, Verona, Florence, Pisa, Tuscany, Milan, Lake Como, Switzerland, etc.
Joe, you must feel like a magician cause you taking Gift to Italy has put a Million Dollar $mile on her face. As an Italian American, I am biased as everyone should love Italy too. Both Sukanya and I love your videos and the information shared too but watching Gift enjoy this adventure has been one of your most rewarding in some ways. We are so happy Gift is enjoying it too. Hi Joe and Gift, this holiday just keeps on giving you, and us, wonderful surprises. The lunch time meal was a real mouth waterer, but then at 2600 baht, so it should be! That's five days worth of food for us! Maybe one day I will win the lottery and have such a delicious meal. Having said that the meal with your new found friends looked equally as delicious and the company was good too. How kind of them to invite you into their home and entertain you like that. My wife who is Thai from Thailand where we live in Hawaii where we in Hawaii eat rice everyday and can't go without rice just like the Thai people. If my wife was to go to Italy we will have to by a rice cooker and put in the hotel so she could have rice everyday.
A good news for your wife rice is used a lot in northern Italy, we even sell it to china ( risk arborio)
We found a place that sells cooked rice so Gift was happy 😊

Fantastic Italian home! I was surprised that the outside is just a plain white color, given how colorful most of the buildings are in Italy. But inside was for sure a wow!
Italy can be very hot in summer, consequently a lot of houses are white as well white cars...
