- Today Gift and I visit Venice Italy, the first city in the world to charge an entry fee (access tax). We wonder could this become the new norm. Venice may not be for everyone as it is becoming over crowded and more expensive by the day.

Wow very cool but as you said too crowded for us too! Beautiful though!! Thanks to you folks & Sabrina for taking us along! 🙏💙
Our pleasure!
You made it to Venice, another beautiful city in Italy. Good you have Sabrina helping you and Gift out learning and touring around Italy with all the new rules and charges. I was there in 1968, it has changed. The Gondola ride, I thought I was watching a movie, very nice. Glad to see you and Gift enjoying your trip.Take care
Thank you! 😃
Joe and Gift, Thanks for showing Venice. I have been watching you for years and this was one of your best shows. Thanks again.
Dan Goldman
Our pleasure! Thank you 🙏 so much.
Great video Joe and Gift.....best I've see of a adventure 👍 thanks for taking us along....stay safe!!will watch till the end 👍 😀
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you 🙏 so much for watching.
That was amazing to see Venice to the eyes of a local woman that grew up there and how it’s changed or what it looks like now good video Joe good video Sabrina is a wonderful, wonderful, beautiful person
🙏
Awww so Romantic ❤❤❤❤🌹🌹
Wow I always thought that Venice would be lovely to visit, but I'm not so sure. Over tourism kills areas, hence why I could never live in a tourist area of Thailand
Nice tour Joe and Gift. The gondola ride was cool. I heard that the water can smell.
Thank you 🙏
You have such a beautiful tour guide. 😍👍
😊
Thank you for showing us your video to venice. Enjoyed
Our pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it!
You guys have a good friend in Sabrina there bro, what a nice lady. 👍👍
Yes we do!
Really enjoying this series of Italy. Look at you two lovebirds. Thought the engagement ring may have appeared. Unfortunately we will have to wait till Germany now. Love the clarity of your video Joe.
Thank you 🙏😊
Great show guy's! Enjoy Venice! 😊
Thank you 🙏
Great content, appreciate seeing the views of Venice. Never been, and not a fan of crowds. Probably somewhere I should have gone years ago. Safe travels as always, brother.
Thank you 🙏 brother!
Lovely for Gift to see Venice, we was there in January and very quiet! Now we are in Poznan in Poland and surprised to find some fantastic Thai food
Gift had an amazing time.
What a great video, Sabrina was the best tour guide. You and Gift are like newlyweds.
It amases me how the gondelor guy knows his way around. I see no street signs. 😀
I also thought that polish family running into you, I mean what are the chances. 😆
Crazy lineup everyplace.
Thank you so much for sharing. Excellent video with excellent people.
Thank you 🙏 so much!
Great video. Especially loved the Gondola ride
Glad you enjoyed it!
We lived in the Aviano AB area for 8 years before we retired from the Air Force. Love the videos and seriously considering going to Thailand for a visit just from watching your channel!
Thank you 🙏 for your Service. Perhaps we will see you in Thailand 🇹🇭
Thanks for taking one for the team there Joe. I know now to never go there!
Hello Joe and Gift, and not that other fellah without the cap, imposter alert, 😂😂😂 Great video, and fortunate local tour guide ✔ 10 / 10 Keep Well, Stay Safe my friends.
Thank you 🙏

Our pleasure!
Joe and Gift,,super great video of Venice,,amazing,,city,,too,,bad,,it was so crowded,,but,,you got the best😊😊
Thank you 🙏 so much!
Absolutely loving these videos. Your beautiful friend Sabrina is fabulous & I felt like I was in Venice with you all. Gift is genuinely interested in the people & different cultures & Joe is loving showing her around. Can’t wait for Croatia & Germany. Great work!!
Thank you 🙏 so much!
That was very enjoyable. Thank you. I was one day in Venice in July 1969 as a nearly 5 year old boy and this city made such a big impression on me that I still have memories.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The Gondola ride with you both Joe & Gift, - soothing piano music and some very nice views of the canals - , was the most beautiful part of your video in Venice❤Sabrina is a super great friend✌she showed you a lot of inside Venice and of course it would have been great if you could have gone to Murano.....🙏great video !
Glad you enjoyed it!
What a great video, gift looks so so happy, it's a pleasure to see her enjoying herself so much, and what a wonderful tour guide you have , the gondala ride was fantastic,
Thank you 🙏 so much!
Joe and Gift thank you for another excellent video it is great to see that you are both having a wonderfull time there and Joe is showing you all that great food and teaching you Italian as well and what a great friend you have in Sabrina she is not only taking you to some lovely places she is making Gift so welcome to Venice.
And what a great day to finish on seeing you both so happy in your Gondola trip love to see two people so happy.
I have watched you for years and have loved everything you have shared with us all.
Really looking forward to the next adventure.
Thank you 🙏 so much!
Venice is one of your better videos Joe..I am always intrigued by the blocked off access ways from the canals. I would love to be able to explore the other side of the doors/grills. Bound to be some forgotten treasures there..
Thank you 🙏
Thanks for the beautiful video and the tour around Venice. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wonderful video….love being back In Venice!
Glad you enjoyed it!
One of your best videos great guide and lovely friend she should visit Thailand
Thank you 🙏 so much!
Joe and Gift, first off it's very nice of your friend Sabrina. showing you around her hometown of Venice. wonderful scenery..excited to see where your next adventure takes us..
Sabrina is awesome! Thank you 🙏 so much for watching!
Venice was beautifu! This was a "spectacular watch." Sabrina is just, a lovely friend. I really am enjoying Italy with you & Gift. ❤🎉
Glad you enjoyed it!
I walked around that city a bunch, but I wasn't yet 30. My legs got sore just watching. It's interesting watching different places find new ways to squeeze more and more out of us. Don't look at the cost breakdown of y'alls airline tickets to Europe. 60% of what I'm paying for my next flight is taxes and fees.
Another trip down memory lane. I really hope Gift enjoyed it, despite the throngs of people. It's way worse in February, as you well know. When next y'all are in BKK it would be great to meet you guys and talk about your trip.
Enjoy!
Thank you 🙏 Despite the crowds, Gift had an amazing time. If you are ever in PKK look us up and perhaps we can do lunch or dinner.
so COOL!
🙏
Joe, Graffiti sorted in Pompeii Italy thousands of years ago, I spent three days just filming Pompeii in 2005, it was the most enlightening experience also it is where the Pizza originated as Pompeii was a fast moving busy city, the Pizza ovens are still there from 4,000 years ago. I strongly suggest that you and Gift visit it if you have time enjoy your holiday 👍❤️🙏
Thank you 🙏 for the suggestion!
Love this series 🇮🇹
Thank you 🙏 so much!
Great video.....thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank You Sabrina, Joe and Gift for the grand tour of Venice. I would like to come to Italy but not so much Venice, far too many people for me. It is certainly a much different place than Thailand. Enjoy!
Our pleasure!
The guy said try Poland. I think you and Gift would like Krakow.
Fantastic ! my first visit to Venice was in the 80,s and as I got off the train the sun was beating down and I thought I had arrived in a film set or a fantisy it was so beautiful. It has changed so much since then, we were able to visit all the historic sights and see the art but now it looks far far to busy, I think going during a week day off season would be best. Its a shame you didnt get to Murano to see the world famous glass making it is amazing. Im so glad Gift got to see Venice and the gondola ride was lovely. I particularly enjoyed hearing about your friends history and seeing the back streets. Thank you to all.
He was in Murano??
🙏
hello Joe and Gift, pity it was so busy in Venice. My best tip would be to stay for 2 nights in the city. when all the tourists are gone in the evening, it is magical. Totally different. But I would never ever like it the way you had to do today, except for the gondola ride, that was really lovely, wasn't it? Thank you for the great video!
Thank you 🙏
Omg so beautiful thanks so much for sharing this with us blessings from North Texas ❤
You are so welcome 🙏. Glad you enjoyed it.
I lived in Italy for 3 years, 83-86 in Vincenza. Venice was going through some hard times back then. The canals were overgrown with algae, and the city was sinking in sections. They were considering a tourist tax back then. Given that it is a beautiful city and a historical city 5 euro seems a reasonable price.
Thank you 🙏 for sharing.
Gift and Joe .Thx..for showing trip Italy 🇮🇹 I have hope someday i can go there ..There are beautiful old churches and beautiful cities too. I love the beautiful architecture as well🙏🙏👍👍
Our Pleasure!
Thanks for sharing, we visited Venice on a quiet weekday many years ago, it was wonderful, the locals were very friendly and the prices were surprisingly cheap so we have often thought of going back but your videos confirmed what we suspected 😁.
Our pleasure!
Thank you Joe, Gift and Sabrina. Nice to look at Venice.
Our pleasure!
Absolutely LOVE Italy and I really enjoyed Venice. Can’t wait to go back. When we retire, we will be spending most of our time in Italy.
Yeah that is Sweden 🇸🇪 and consulate. Heja Sverige 🎉❤
👍
Wonderful tour, great food , trains in Europe are amazing..thanks for sharing..😊
Glad you enjoyed!
Venice has many areas that are not as busy as the areas you have shown. It is worth getting up early (5am) and visiting the areas that can get busy before everyone arrives. Or you can go and explore later in the evening when day trippers and workers leave the island.
Good suggestion!
30:43 Very famous country I hope you say good word on Sweden 🇸🇪 ❤
One day we will visit there.
The Rialto fridge is a solid marble bridge that if you look at it from the side rather than on it it's amazingly beautiful and I believe it's was designed by Michelangelo back when in the Renaissance people were scientists painters and architects all in one
Thank you 🙏 for sharing.
Joe, I hope y’all can get a piece of art to ship home for the memories.👍
What a gracious lady Sabrina is. A charming wonderful guide showing the real Venice where she lived and grew up that is the icing on the cake for all these vlogs. Crowds like that are not my scene Joe and I think you called it for what it is .. overated. I went to the Venice in Manila and it was pretty much the same. Great series of adventures so far thanks. Bushyboy Oz.
Glad you enjoying the series.
What a city Venice is ! And how many individual stories are there. I saw it because of you two and I appreciate it so much. I would have never seen it due to age and health so a big Thank You from the bottom of my heart.❤
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you 🙏 so much for watching.
Glad I visited Venice in the 80s,no where near crowded,I like your vloging Joe
Thank you 🙏 so much!
Glad you took Gift to see Venice, what a lovely friend to have in Sabrina, you can see the logic of the tax perhaps not for locals, the bad flight experience is a distant memory.🇬🇧👏🏿🥰🍷
I’m happy that I took Gift as well, despite the crowds and not being able to see everything we wanted to, she still had an awesome time.
i would love to see Sabrina visit u guys in Thailand!
Same here!
Great Vlog as always Gift and Joe. I spent a weekend in Venice about 15 years ago and the crowds were nothing like they are today. In fact there were no crowds! I stayed in a small, cheap hotel (Hotel Casenove) just around the corner from St. Mark's Cathedral and the main Piazza. It was a great weekend although towards the end, St. Mark's Square flooded and we had to walk on narrow duckboards similar to those at 7:43 on your vlog. I am so pleased that you managed to get a ride in a gondola, despite all the crowds, because, as you say, that is a once in a lifetime experience. Great that Sabrina was your guide and that you saw the other side of Venice were people actually live. I loved all the dark alleyways that you were taken down, with their supporting beams which are probably centuries old as are most of the buildings. Very interested in the stories of Sabrina's childhood and the building she lived in and her schools. Things must have been so different then and it must be so hard for her to return there and see all the changes. God bless you both as you continue your wonderful adventure. 😀🙏❤
Thank you 🙏 God bless!
WOW! I was.there in the Summer of 2018, never was there a line for water taxi
Maybe because it was a holiday weekend or it is now the norm.
Perfect time Joe,??? Ya missed it❤
😊
Sound like spending time waiting in line just like at Disney's Park. But it worth for Gift to see the place.
I agree ☝️
I have never been to Venice and by the looks of your video I won't be going. :) Those queues were crazy.
It was the weekend holiday for the Italians. If you should change your mind, maybe it won’t be as bad.
Thank You 🙏👍😀
🙏
I’m going to Venice on May 15th. Can’t hardly wait
Safe travels!
If you leave the beaten track, you can enjoy strolling around avoiding the crowd.
You can’t get lost don’t worry. Enjoy your stay in this one of a kind Venice.👍👍👍💪💪💪🇨🇭
The last ten minutes of the video or so, we show you a part of Venice most tourist don’t see.
Loved the day in Venice!
About the "new tax" : my POV is Venice case is very special for all over the world, for the main reason that massive tourism is destroying the historical and cultural heritage. Laguna included,...and the venitians are remembering very well how hugge boats were anchoring too much near the city, plus the "aqua alta" plus the RB&B trend and so on. So yes, of course it is a "rip off" for italians, venitians because tax of an hertiage, but to balance with economic income. The same idea applies to London for car traffic and many other examples : to slow down (or regulate) the effects of tourism on these assets...you can only add more taxes or close (like Thailand did for some beaches ;-) ). In France, we have "patrimoines days" which are few days one year with free access to usually closed high value places.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
100% agree with you about the entrance tax in Venice 😅
Nice vid ! Last time in Venice 1971, stayed Hotel Danieli next to the plaza, could see flood marks on the pillars in the hotel lobby..went to the glass factory, had many beautiful pieces…you’re like on a honeymoon trip and a very excellent guide..enjoy this very nice trip 🙏🏻👍🏻….Swedish embassy by the by 🇸🇪
Thank you 🙏
This is epic , far exceeding my expectations of your europien trip, having a beutifull italian guide is a bonus for sure, if i had been fortunate enough to be on a gondola with sabrina i would have proposed ! she's gorgeous , she must visit you in thailand sometime ,.all the best joe & gift/sabrina,.
🙏😊
Damn Joe did your Gondola oarsmen have a motor on that Gondola?😮 People were getting out his way😂..I was there in 1986 when stationed in Germany...always said it was flooding and someday wouldn't be there but looks awesome, thx for the memories
Our pleasure!
I saw this online a few days ago. It's because of the mass tourists I think. I think you missed the trick especially on the boat where you could of popped the question. Thanks for showcasing Venice. Beautiful city 😊
Our pleasure! As far as missing the “trick” it wasn’t in the plans ☺️. Stay tuned!
We are in Venice now and have had a totally different time..no queuing at all
We are happy to hear that. Enjoy!
It must be frustrating for residents to have all those crowds and hiked up prices.
I’m sure for some it is.
The small bridge that goes from the back side of the doge palace to the prison has a small window and I think it's called something like the bridge of give up all hope and from that tiny window the prisoners would take their last look at the world before descending forever to the dark dungeons also many of the most amazing things are hidden in mansions along the grand canal inside the mansions is one very famous staircase -- The Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo is a small palazzo in Venice, Italy, best known for its external multi-arch spiral staircase known as the Scala Contarini del Bovolo
At least the gondola ride was peaceful and crowd free!! We finished our honeymoon med cruise with a few extra days in Venice (May 2008) I don't remember it being so insanely crowded back then. Too many people with too much money and time on their hands!! 🙄 Enjoy the rest of your trip and Safe Travels!! 👍👍
Thank you 🙏
Joe, you romantic devil!!! I didn't know you had it in you, great job!🎉🎉🎉
😬😊
My mum visited Venice in the 70s she described very much as your friend did, a quiet pleasant city. Perhaps they need to reduce visitors drastically and do a lottery to keep the numbers down
Charging the 5 Euro definitely won’t help. Like Sabrina said it’s more about the money.
The entrance tax/fee for Italians is just as Thais have to pay to go into national parks in Thailand....
I guess it gets more and more hard to enjoy anything for free nowadays. Still some nuggets left though 🙂
Yes, that was the Swedish Consulate 😉
Thank you 🙏 for watching.
Ok…so I thought that the Marriage Proposal would come at Venice….on a gondola! But now…I predict proposal in Paris…at the Eiffel Tower!
We have no plans to go visit France 😊
Since Gift likes Italy so much, maybe y’all can figure out how to live in Italy for 6 months and Thailand for 6 months.
Schengen visa is only good for 90 days
We will definitely be traveling more to both Italy and Europe.
In Manchester UK, you have to pay a £1 Hotel Tax charge to stay in a Hotel in the city.
In many city in Germany to between 2.50 and 5 euro per day .
Same in the US, many different taxes added to the cost of a hotel depending on the state.
I am surprised Sabrina did not mention the “King Tide”. Or those trestle tables lining the streets…like at 7.45min on the video. When the king tide comes in…94 times last year…most of Venice is a foot under water. That is when the trestle tables are put out to form a walkway.
She mentioned it but unfortunately the camera was off at the time.
Gift is going to come back อ้วน😅😊 ,pastries, ice cream ,cakes ,pizza etc etc etc ! Don't pay me anymind guys. I'm just jealous of the food, the views, and the fun you're having. 😂😂
Sabrina's a great guide and obviously a good friend to have. Venice is beautiful and the gondola ride was cute for Gift but you can have the long lines and crowded tourist spots. Never been there but it reminds me of Copenhagen when I went there for my nieces wedding ! Still Ta and I will visit it one day 😊
😊😋
Wow! Those lines for the vaporetto were unreal. We have been to Venice 7-8 times and never saw lines like this. Last July when we were there the wait time was non-existent. We always stay in Mestre, as it is less expensive for a hote(but lose the ambience of Venice)l, and the daily vaparetto pass is good for the bus, which is a 10-15 minute ride to Venice and Piazza Roma. The tourist tax is an effort to cut down on the number of tourists that visit Venice each day. They first eliminated the cruise ships, and now limiting the number of tourists. Our cruise last July, asvertised from Venice actually left from Trieste, a two-hour train ride away.
Thank you 🙏 for sharing.
We were just there and lucked out and didn't have to pay the tax. It was so crowded you could barely walk and yes the lines.
Hopefully you still had a great time.
We had a terrific time so glad my wife planned the trip.
I had Venice on my list to do things, but I skipped it after watching your video. It’s just incredible to see all those tourists 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈. In 2 weeks I’ll be staying in Koh Chang, way more relaxing and cheaper 🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Enjoy Koh Chang, a very beautiful place as well.
@@thaigirlgiftforeignerjoe7774 You two enjoy your trip in Europe. A pity you don’t visit Holland, I would have showed you around. Have a wonderful trip 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thought for sure there was going to be an “announcement” on the canal boat.
Please tell me Gift found the Starbucks in Venice!
No need for Starbucks in Italy 🇮🇹 because Gift has been drinking authentic Italian hot chocolate.
Sand to see what Tourism does to beatifull places all over the World. Beware of it.
Gift has never walked this much nor kissed this many people in her life 😂
😊
Wow the crowds are a bit much
I agree ☝️
👍🙂
🙏
And then it's the doge palace tour is quite amazing with all the weaponry they have from the middle ages you might like that if you've never seen it also if you go to st mark's the huge one piece granite columns are possibly 25,000 years old they were taken from ancient sites in Greece and Egypt and even the Romans could not make such things and we cannot make them today so when you see those columns you're really looking at something fantastic but most people just walk past it
We stood in so many lines that unfortunately there wasn’t enough time to see much of anything.
When we go to Italy in a few years, it will be strictly Sicily. No way we are going near Venice. That is ridiculous.
I love Sicily!
20:40 that's the bridge. (Of sighs?)
I need to have a talk with the Doge of Venice about that 5 Euro charge
😊
Like being at Disney World lol. Lines, lines, lines!
🤣👍
I mss that place so bad. I am planning on catching a Space A flight to Italy . I remember Aviano always had space A but it seems that is no longer a thing flying space A to Aviano. I have to go to Germany and catch a train or drive to Italy now.
Safe travels!
