Salamanca had a - speed nature and kabutops +speed, it wouldn't normally, very unlucky
The base speed for kabutops is 80 and salamence is 100 tho.

Even with that it was only a speed tie, kind of crazy. Though Salamence wasn't going to take down a Kabutops with +6 in defense with a physical move anyway.

@@determineddaaf3 Yeah, gambing on Guillotine was probably the play there. It wouldn't have helped the speed tie RNG, but if it had won the tie, 30% is a lot better odds than a crit.
I CANT BELIEVE it came down to a -Speed natured Salad man, and a +speed Natured Kabutops, which turned into a SPEED TIE to determine the match 😂 good jobs to both of you, it genuinely could've gone either way
Even if saladman outspeed kabutops he can't killed him anyways 😂. My man got double defense sharply and all saladman have is not effective physical move😂

It's actually really nice to see one of the coolest OG Pokémon designs getting it's day, so often underestimated and disrespected but we all love to see Kabutops perform.
A interesting challenge could be, 1st person catches anything but the second person goes and catch a pokemon super effective to it

Not that it mattered since you got out sped, but on that last turn with 6 def buffs on Kabs, I would have gone for Guillotine.

This would've also been like the perfect time for an otherwise unused move...but Snorlax had Guard *Split* (which would average the Defenses and Special Defenses of the battlers...without taking boosts into consideration) instead of Guard *Swap* (which switches stat boosts). I can only imagine what would've ensued had Snorlax survived a hit to steal the entire boost...
It could've mattered, they had the same speed, so it was a speed tie. It was 50/50 who would attack first.
@@determineddaaf3, that was only at that level. The battle was set to level 50 instead of their starting level (69), so the stats will be reduced commensurately. The Kabutops had a Speed-boosting nature (Timid, if you were curious...drops Attack in exchange) while the Salamence was Brave (Attack boost, Speed drop); if you plug the pertinent stats into a stat calculator, you find out that a Timid 31 IV Kabutops will always outspeed a Brave 31 IV Salamence (Timid, 31 Speed IV, 0 EV Kabutops hits 110; Brave, 31 Speed IV, 0 EV Salamence tops out at 108). This means that, simply by virtue of a better nature and even a slightly higher Speed IV, it really didn't matter.

That Kabutops had a plus speed nature and the Salamence had a minus speed nature. Even then, they still actually had the exact same speed stat at level 69 when you were showing them off. Might have been a speed tie and normally Kabutops is definitely NOT faster than Salamence.

You guys always remind me of playing Pokémon Coliseum or X&Y with my buddies. We’ve all moved to different states/cities now, but it’s fun to see people just genuinely enjoying Pokémon not just using copy and paste teams from the top tiers. Everyone can play how they want to obviously, but that’s one of the things that keeps my from playing S&V online. Just the same 15 mons over and over again. I prefer it playing with some not common picks. 😊

So a few repeating things I keep seeing on their videos is the abilities they mess up which honestly some abilities are confusing so it's understandable but the ability mummy doesn't steal their ability it turns both characters ability into mummy and then the ability Shields down is a specific to minior so it won't work on anyone else it was just you so people could see the colour of its core

Kabutops with stab diamond storm and then +6 in defense raise was absolutely sick! He could have been at half health and took a 75 power grass move! Kabutops transformed into an assassin! LOL!

Catch a second stage-evolves to final- catch a final stage, goes back to first.

The sharpest boy in the land with the sweep
Speed tie for the Kabutops and the Salamance, as if you go back to the team recap, he has a GREAT natured Kabutops which raised its normal 80 speed to 138 tiring Salamance in which didnt have a nature that boosted speed.
Also, one needs to consider that the levels do get changed (they've got their starters set at 69 for the memes, but the levels get set to 50 for battle) and IVs and natures are still random.
@Alsebra yea that randomizer does alot, since they dont use items they should pay more attention to those stats, would turn the battles

The fact the Kabutops had a speed raising nature and Salamce had a speed lowering nature was such a hat trick for Chillin. Normally Salamanca is much faster than Kabutops (+30 base speed). I went back into the video to confirm that. But that wouldn't be enough for Kabutops to outspeed. Kabutops had favorable IVs in speed and Salamance had unfavorable. The universe decided that Chillin would have the fastest Kabutops ever and QuickGG would have the slowest Salamance ever.

The Kabutops and the Salamence were speed tied at 138! Wow! 🎉😂
Only at level 69 (which is where they set their "starters" levels)...the battle is set to level 50, meaning the only things involved in Speed are base stats, IVs, EVs (which they don't have), nature, and (occasionally) abilities. At level 50, they overlap between 94 (Salamence minimum Speed) and 145 (Kabutops maximum)...not impossible.

Choose between starters left mid or right. After choosing you get to pick which direction to go in with evo. Up down stay. (Chooser doesn’t know what evo stage his choice is) If at the mid stage choosing up would go fully evolved if already at fully evo and choosing up it would go to its first evo. Etc. Skips added.
