YOU Diagnosed My Escalade's Broken Cruise Control!

  • A few viewers recommended replacing the brake light switch on my Escalade to get the cruise control working again. This truck still needs quite a bit of work that should probably take priority over this, but right now I'm trying to make quick progress by burning through the small stuff. It's just a simple brake light switch. Easy job right?

    Back in the 60s, the old slot cars would quit working at times. They had metal skids that rode on the metal rails of the track. We used to take a pencil eraser and scrub them clean to get them working again. Used to do the same with the switches for power windows on cars back in the 70s and 80s. Might work on that type of switch as well.

    Glad it worked, I'd have been embarrassed if the fix I suggested last video didn't actually fix it.

    Love the troubleshooting process! Especially you checking the old switch for burn marks or anything visually wrong. You explained it all very clearly and congrats on finding the culprit (and accidentally installing it upside down at first, haha). Can't wait to see what you tackle next!

    I had the same light problem on a 2008 Silverado, the pins on the headlight socket were smoked. Replace the sockets and you''ll probably fix it up

    I just bought my 2010 Escalade 3 weeks ago for $2500 with a bad AFM lifter. I've been following along this series and I've been having similar issues, I just ordered the brake light switch lol. I love your content !

    I swear all of the GMT-900 trucks eventually have the same issues lol. Every Suburban, Yukon, Cadillac, or Avalanche I’ve owned have all had a combination of the same problems. I guess the good part is they’ve all been pretty easy to repair.

    Glad you figured it out. My cruise control stopped working on my Tahoe after I installed LED lights. Turns out I needed resistors.

    Seems like every Escalade from that era has all the same issues. The lumbar repair is replacing a plastic screw with a metal one i believe. I bought a repair kit for that and my non-folding mirrors. I have avoided those repairs thus far

    I love the fact that the brake switch is four separate switches in one unit and it still fails… gm at its finest.

    I had to replace the brake switch on my 08 Tahoe to since cruise control didn’t work. I also been getting belt squeal but I noticed it only does it when it rains kinda weird.

    • @lsXmatt
      @lsXmatt  Před 3 měsíci

      My Tahoe does that too, everything is new. It’s annoying, maybe a slightly shorter belt can work.

    can i ask... i have a 2011 tahoe and the cruise works sometimes.. but if you hit the brakes once and it WONT COME BACK ON.. is this the same problem? and some days it WON"T GO ON AT ALL .. please advise..

      Same vehicle and same issue you described and this fixed it for me. It's easy. My tow/haul button also stopped working around the same time. The column shifter wears out the wiring after years of shifting into P, D, R, etc. I resoldered the wires and it works again.
