    My husband just bought me the sprayer and a large tent for my birthday last month! I have yet to use it because it's so windy here during this season (and our garage is too full). I can't wait to try it out.

      If your sprayer came with a viscosity cup (for thinning paint) be sure to use it per the manufacturer's instructions and ALWAYS - always - always have those cheap paper and mesh funnel style strainers on-hand... Even for fresh paint. They cost next to nothing(if not free) and you can never have paint that is "too consistent. The home sprayers can work great until the smallest inconsistency works it's way through and it can really take the fun out of your project. Good luck... and kudos to your hubby.

    Wow! Those cabinets came out really nice! I've been wanting to repaint my kitchen cabinets but I have so many other projects going on at the moment that I've been putting it off. I will probably wait until the end of November, when the temperatures are back in the 70s. Our summer months are very hot which makes doing anything outside in the garage miserable! Love the island. It came out gorgeous! You know I love those gray colors. Lol. You did an amazing job 👍👍👍 Hugs from the southeast coast of Florida 🌴😎💙😎🌴

    A lot of extra work for milkpaint. Yes, do ALL that for all other paint. With milkpaint, a good cleaning and then simply add the bonding agent. I've successfully used this method for all my milkpaint jobs, including kitchen cabinets, unless it was raw wood, which doesn't require bonding agent

    • @RootsWingsHome

    My kitchen cabinets have previously been painted by a past owner. I believe it is a flat paint. Do you have any suggestions on how to prep the surface? Is stripping the paint the only way because it takes so long and I don't think I have it in me to do it.

    • @RootsWingsHome
      @RootsWingsHome  Před 5 lety +1

      You shouldn't have to strip the paint if the finish is okay (not too many drips, peeling or chipping paint). Just make sure it's sanded a bit so your new layer of paint will stick! If there are some spots you don't love sand it smooth. I hope that helps!

    This paint is great., we painted our kitchen cabinets white...but DO NOT use their topcoat. We did and it looked great but within 6 months they begin to yellow. We are now in the process of sanding and repainting, this time minus the topcoat. It is a water based topcoat and it shouldn't have yellowed, but it did. I should have read all the comments before we started because there were several in there that said their cabinets had yellowed also.

    • @RootsWingsHome
      @RootsWingsHome  Před 4 lety

      It's not the topcoat! It's the wood underneath the paint. As the water based products are applied (especially topcoat) it brings up the tannins from the wood and stains through the paint. Use a stain blocking primer under any light color - that's the best bet to prevent discoloring!

    • @RootsWingsHome
      @RootsWingsHome  Před 4 lety +1

      I used Behr Alkyd (not latex) - it dries to a harder finish than the latex will. I like either option, but Behr is less expensive and easier to find. Both have held up great, with natural touch ups needed ever couple of years. Either is a good option, probably depends on your budget and availability!
