fun fact: the speech there happens with all the bodies when you're late game/late-stage possession. the haunt cycle overrides the body possession mechanics!

@@karrggo hi! i mean that it this "possession" line, or a similar variation, will happen with any body that you've put the mark on, either late-game (having embalmed all bodies and spent a good amount of time in the shift), or late-stage possession (you're experiencing more and more haunts, and you're further along in being possessed). this can happen to any body, whether or not it's possessed. the body that is possessed is pre-determined when you start a shift.

The fact that he got so lucky with the letting strip at the very beginning which still brought the symbol into the world, and didn't even find it yet still got the right name AND BODY, all for the good ending, and he didn't even understand what he was missing or explore everything, is kind of a testament to Mark's luck in this game.
I thought the same thing, but I think it helped thag his game was a little broken.
Jack: failed to get the good ending several times while actively trying.
Mark: ADHDs through the whole game and wins the first try no issue by being a golden retriever as a human.
This is why he believes in beginner’s luck
although there was a semblance of marks logic that also let him get the name

the fact that mark opens the window when he sees something outside is what's going to make him lose at some point

I love how Jack poured over every detail, relistened to every part, went everywhere, read everything and still failed. Mark just straight up guessed on like 50% of the game and still won.

As long as you follow the essay format and stay on topic, most teachers (in high school, anyway) don't care enough to read your entire essay, probably because it's one essay out of a cool 200ish other essays they also have to read/grade. As long as it _looks_ like a proper essay for the amount of time it takes to skim through it, you'll probably get a decent grade on it anyway.

I'm no mortician, but the lips need muscles being flexed to perform a smile, unless it's a facial disfigurement that allows the muscles to rest on a smile.
The funny part is he's not wrong. In this game certain "ticks" have way more correlation to the body being possessed than others.
For example, pretty much all bodies have at least 1 haunting sequence, so those mean nothing. And suddently appearing scratches are also common.
However, 3 are very much solid indicators that you got the right one. First is smiling. If a body smiles unless you see another body have another of the strong indicators, to the flamer with it.
Second is hauntings which involve bodies other than the one you're operating on. Which btw Mark also got, very strong sign that there's where you should look.
And finally comes the devil's mark... and I mean literally. If you see the seal of a demon house corroborate with the computer or notepad if it is the seal from the house haunting you. If it is not, then 100% that body is innocent. If that is the right seal then so is the body and you shouldn't even think it further, to the fire with it, this is 100% reliable if it appears.
So yeah, mark was right. For later levels it gets more complicated, but the first night if you see a smiler the correct reaction is to put a rock on its chest and throw it straight into the oven where it belongs.
Maybe this is why Billie Eyelash doesn't like to smile

@@aer015 true, the game is a tad buggy and that can butcher the shift you're playing. trying not to hold the bugs too personal since the game is amazing and made by one guy, but those bugs can really knock a play through sometimes
that may be because he has lowered his screen brightness a lot to darken his view, as seen in the intro

I downloaded this game and played it before seeing this video. It is honestly one of the scariest games out there. Had to pause multiple times due to freaking out - heart pounding and palms sweating - this game definitely puts you through the fight or flight mode.

Mark didn’t guess the last symbol. He used elimination since none of the other ones had those three symbols which is very smart. He 100% guessed the body.

@@conversationssuck just eliminating the answers that are definitely wrong. like mark knew three of his sigils already so he knew that some of the demons on the computer weren't his as they didn't have the same ones he did. since only one demon had all three of his sigils, it had to be that one and added the other sigil it had to create the mark. hopefully that makes sense (literally just process of elimination)

@@shadowyyCFH I think both not sure tho, from what I've seen so far if it like grabs you like in those cut scenes too many times you're eventually gonna get possesed. Maybe you can avoid it or something tho I don't think it would work for too long
getting possessed by not being fast enough to burn a body is not considered one of the official endings and yet it still can happen. i've seen it from jay kubzscouts. on his second try to play the game, he got possessed just the moment he was putting one of the bodies in the incinerator (really a shame because that 2nd time he might was getting the body right, the first time he burned the wrong one or spelled the demon's name wrong). you can even get possessed by just standing and not doing anything with the bodies. anywhere, anytime in the game, if you're simply not quick enough embalm the bodies and find which one is possessed, you get rebecca possessed.
Im under the impression that it's a soft time limit. You have a certain amount of time until you're possessed but some factors cut down on that time, and maybe some things increase that time.
@@vivil2533 yeah. like, if scenes like the hanging rebecca on the corridor between the room taking the bodies (what was it again?) and embalming room, or when the demon makes one of the bodies look like rebecca's dead dad, if you give them the sobriety coins, instead of them giving you a jumpscare, they leave you alone and that is somehow kinda peaceful for me in the game, considering it's full of horrific jumpscares
I love that, out of at least four or five people, Mark is the only one I’ve watched play this game who didn’t get the ‘bad’ ending first. I was so confused by seeing a different ending because I thought he would have ‘failed’ since he sort of guessed.

Gab smolders also got the bad ending and pretty much listened to what they were telling her. Mind you she went back and did all the endings but apparently there is a sixth ending. Not gonna lie I got irritated at Mark because for the longest time he had all 4 sigils but WOULDN'T look in drawers.

I think they actually have contingencies for if a body is lost, like silicon bodies. Otherwise, Rebecca and the mortician can just say they cremated it by mistake, or come up with some other excuse.

tbf that interaction is not any assurance at all, the demon can make any of the bodies speak like that when you put the clay mark on them and your sanity is low enough, hes just trying to throw you off.
still, the comedic timing and the fact he got it right regardless made this super funny.
Dude when I messed up my first run of this game I was constantly second guessing myself but when the time came to putting the right body in the fire the second it said anything to make me doubt myself I was a hundred percent sure

i do kinda wonder what they tell the person who gets possessed/burned’s family. do they just straight up tell them or try to like make an excuse? like “hey ik you wanted an open casket funeral for ur grandma but she kinda got possessed in the mortuary so we got u the ashes but they might be a little goofy”
As an exorcist, I can definitely say that one of the best ways to stop demons from getting into your house and body is to scream "no visitors." Demons follow certain rules.
Yeah, they're like vampires. To really keep the demons away be sure you yell "no visitors" every time you walk into a new room.

It was truly remarkable how Mark seemingly stumbled into the good ending while only halfway understanding what he was supposed to do. I remember seeing Sean being really cautious and double checking everything and reading and listening to everything and he still got it wrong the first couple of times.

the thing is, he revealed the first sigil right away, but he didnt look for it. the first time he pulled up the letting strip right next to the old cabinet it combusted, if he paid proper attention to the tapes he would have started looking around that corner for the first letter of the demons name and he wouldnt have needed to go process of elimination on the PC archives.

I know. When he got the good ending my jaw was on the floor. It took Jack so much toil to get there, and it took Mark a few half-understood guesses to get it first try. Truly amazing

Hearing the three knocks is terrifying since that IS a demon trying to get in and if you answer the door after that you are letting the demon in. It's nice seeing the protagonist react to things how people would normally react as opposed to saying nothing and moving along like the demo. Nice breath of fresh air when horror game protagonists are like that.
