- The love story you know, the ex you don’t.
Rosaline starts streaming October 14 on Hulu.
“Rosaline” is a fresh and comedic twist on Shakespeare’s classic love story “Romeo & Juliet,” told from the perspective of Juliet’s cousin Rosaline (Kaitlyn Dever), who also happens to be Romeo’s recent love interest. Heartbroken when Romeo (Kyle Allen) meets Juliet (Isabela Merced) and begins to pursue her, Rosaline schemes to foil the famous romance and win back her guy. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Rosaline dodged a bullet if you ask me.
I mean, you're not wrong.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if a gun shows up in this film.
Ahhh brutal,like me.
Or a drink of poison
So Loretta McCready from Justified went from trying to be a drug dealer in the hollers of Kentucky… to a princess in a Shakespeare story?🤨
Not buying it.
“That is possibly the DUMBEST idea ever…
DID YOU DRINK IT ALREADY??!”
That line killed it for me.~
Hey don't look at Juliet, that crazy plan wasn't her idea.
Agreed, I love Kaitlyn in this role. It's a chance to see an oft told story from a brand new perspective.
And someone kinda her own age
except it's telling a different story from a new perspective - because in the original play she's not his ex, he's infatuated with her but she a) knows his love isn't genuine and b) has made it pretty publicly known that she has no interest in love or romance at all and has all but sworn chastity. So rather than him dumping her for her cousin, it's her rejecting him before the story even started.
I see you everywhere lol
@@theoneandonlydrowlf819 if you're talking to me I'm glad to hear it, was wondering if anyone did, lol
I love this honestly. I love when they make the period pieces modern and not stuffy w the accents and Shakespearean language
@A Smith Can't tell if youre being sarcastic. But I agree un-sarcastically. I don't want 10 Shakespearean riddles for every declarative statement, I want this crazy hot mess
@@Circa1628 exactly. It’s not like they’re going for Oscar’s with this. It’s just entertainment
@A Smith
You must be fun at parties...
Garbage taste
@A Smith Historical accuracy?😂 Romeo and Juliet is fiction. These people did not exist. That literally means they don’t have to be accurate! Next you’ll being criticizing lord of the rings because the wizard hats could not have possibly been made that pointy Wayback when in this time that never happened.
SO excited for this fresh take on the story. In all the adaptations of Romeo & Juliet, I've never once heard anything about Rosaline's perspective!
It's not an adaptation..... They changed the whole story
@DarknessTheNightFury It's not a "perspective" it's more of a spin off/ completely new Story
it’s not really Rosaline real perspective. In the real play Rosaline did not like Romeo in the first place, but i really like the idea of the movie
@DarknessTheNightFury It's not the same story from a different perspective. The original story is about two feuding families and how their children get caught up in it with tragic results. This story is about a jealous teenager who wasn't even in the original play, because the original Rosaline refused Romeo's suit before the play even began and was not his 'girlfriend.' It's a completely different plot that shouldn't be capitalizing on resembling Shakespeare because it doesn't. It should be marketed as a funny made-up YA romance that just happens to use vaguely Renaissance-style elements in the setting.
@n30n WHAT IS THE TITLE??? Is it Romeo and Juliet? No. Of course it's not an adaptation. If it was, it would be called "Romeo and Juliet".
I'm here for Kaityln doing some lighthearted projects again, this is her month fr
Seriously, I had just started rewatching Unbelievable again out of nowhere and good god, after that she deserves all the fluff in the world.
@@gerrittlighthart Right?,especially because she did Dopesick after Unbelievable. She has incredible range
@@karabokhanyile that's when I first saw her. She's very talented in both
I actually first saw her in Booksmart and oh my God she was my favourite part of the movie !!!! Her range from comedy to drama is just incredible and I want her to star in even more things...
She deserves every recognition she can get !!!
And in some stories I am writing she's my main protagonist's face claim , well while she is younger anyway, because she grows up to another face claim, Daisy Ridley
@@mattdragoneed6476 @Matt Dragoneed Yeah most people (including myself) saw her in Booksmart cause that was her breakthrough as an actress but she 1st started in Justified and Short term 12. I agree she's really incredible and I'm glad that she got award recognition (via nominations) this year for her most challenging role to date (Dopesick) because she was great
I haven't seen Daisy in anything yet
It was a fun movie. Predictable parts included but overall had a good time. Good chemistry between the main cast. If someone is looking for a serious adaptation surely the trailer will tell them not to go in with that mindset while watching. It also pokes fun at some things like Juliet’s plan. I’ve seen enough “more accurate” adaptations so this was a nice change of pace.
SOLD. This movie looks hilarious. It's gonna be really awkward and dark as hell if the story ends the same way though. Haha.

Kaitlyn and Isabela are each always great, so totally here for them too.
SPOILER: the movie has a great ending (ok not really a spoiler but WATCH IT!!)
@@signin9551 where to watch it tho??
I can't believe they took it off of streaming ANYWHERE. Give me back physical media already.
Yes, Disney didn't like how it performed so they "wrote it down" for tax savings and to avoid paying the cast and crew royalties.
It’s on Vudu, and Amazon.
Oh my..where can i watch this 😢
I'm gonna be honest, this movie was far better than I expected going in. Not only that, but I'd dare to say I actually _liked_ it!
Yes, I'd consider that a glowing review.
If there was another movie like this, they should do one with Mercutio
If Shakespeare was written by Gen Z and gave Rosaline a speaking role 😂
except of course that Rosaline wasn't Romeo's girlfriend, she rejected him before the play started
This looks really funny, I'm betting that Rosaline's interfering somehow allows Romeo x Juliet to actually live happily ever after. Either way, love Kaitlyn Dever.
be good if it does, the trailer makes it look like her interfering is causing half the problems in Verona
I'm loving this new genre, teen romcom with period settings🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣
Rosaline is gonna be absolutely so hilarious!
I always wondered what Rosaline thought, and now I’ll know
Except you won't, because none of this comes from Shakespeare. He's the only one that could've told you the character's thoughts and motivations. This is more creatively bankrupt Hollywood attempting to bank on a known story.
I mean technically you still won't because this has almost nothing to do with Shakespeare. They even are mispronouncing her name lol
I think the play did have a line about her knowing that Romeo's love for her wasn't genuine, since they were never together originally
I thought the purpose of Rosaline's character is that she didn't care for Romeo, hence his heartsickness at the opening of the play. This looks like a classic case of only being interested in someone when you can't have them.
Shhh, don't give them facts, they don't know what to do with them.
Giga-chad in the comments?
Actually Rosaline had taken a vow of chastity, which is why Romeo was all heartbroken and stuff. So there could be a good point made about not respecting boundaries.
@@emma.no.stop. I don't understand how that could be a point. Being heartbroken isn't not respecting boundaries. Romeo didn't attempt to pressure Rosaline into accepting his suit; we never even see her in the play. He did respect her decision, but you don't just fall out of love with someone automatically the moment they reject you. That's why his friends talked him into going into the ball, so he could meet someone new and move on, which he did.
@@cmm5542 right, but in regards to this movie it was obvious they were going to make a LOT of creative liberties. In the original story, Rosaline had taken a vow of chastity, which is why they couldn't have been together. I suppose I worded it wrong, cuz I meant something along the lines of her going "hey we can't be together but we can still be friends" and then her getting jealous for moving on so quickly. They very much did not go for that route in the movie, but I still enjoyed it regardless.
This movie was actually amazing
I don't know why but watching the trailer made me strongly miss Heath Ledger. 😔 Just like that, out of nowhere.
He was a big guy
dude yesss. he looks like him
Like knights tale
Maybe because your sub conscience knows that 10 Things I Hate About You was based off the Shakespearean play The Taming of the Shrew and made you think about Heath Ledger and now you miss him.
Rip why you gotta remind me he’s gone 😭
Kaitlyn Dever is a once in a generation talent.
This seems fun!
A tad different point of view, to the whole Romeo-Julliet Narrative!
Same
They stole my fanfic idea from ten years ago. I knew I should've sold it lol

WE LOVE THIS MOVIE Breaking down all archtypes into modern day life LOVE all the actors and the plan they have in this movie! OMG Well done!
OMG!! This looks FREAKING HILAROUS!!! 🤣🤣🤣❤❤❤👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Honestly cannot believe the bad reviews this movie is getting when Netflix movies exist.
Like this is light years away from the type of cringe Netflix delivers
Also, Romeo & Juliet is seriously the stupidest love story ever told so this was the first time I could stomach being in their universe
The movie literally ended with everyone having a happy ending except for Romeo & Juliet 😂👌🏽
I love it 😆
This looks great. Love the comedic take on this! Sign me up!!
Is no one gonna mention how much the actor for Romeo looks like the late Heath Ledger
Shame it's scheduled to be removed from Hulu. It was entertaining.
Just watched this the other day! Loved it! I feel like if Shakespeare had decided to write Romeo & Juliet has a comedy instead of a tragedy, this is how it would have played out.
0:34 How can you not tell me that he looks like Heath Ledger from A Knight's Tale? It's so uncanny that it's messing with my brain. Rest in peace, brother.
Omg you’re right!!!
Maybe if Heath Ledger were 100x less attractive...maybe
Just watched it ❤️ it's a brilliant take on the story ❤️ absolutely lovvvvvveddd it ❤️❤️❤️
Isabela and Kaitlyn.. two of my favs 😄
This looked fun so I put it in my watchlist at some point. Was checking my list and now it’s not available?
Ikr I can’t find it anywhere
Yes, Disney didn't like how it performed so they "wrote it down" for tax savings and to avoid paying the cast and crew royalties.
Hi.
This was so so SO good.
I'll come back with better feedback BUT THIS WAS SO SATISFYING. And the leads ACTUALLY had real chemistry. WITHOUT BEING TOXIC
R&J x Clueless vibes, I'm here for it
R&J is kinda silly when you read it. At least if you're expecting an iconic tale of forbidden lovers, which I was back in high school.
The plot occurs over a few days, and starts with our leads not having met before, and Romeo pining over Rosaline here. There really is some great comedic potential for this flick.
It's not silly if you read it as it was written, a tragedy about two feuding families that destroy their own children in seeking to further their agendas, rather than the way its marketed as a romance. The love story is incidental to the plot, similar to Casablanca or Dr Zhivago. In all three cases, I was expecting overblown romantic melodrama, and instead I got deep intricate tales of war and power and society, where the romance is one-dimensional because it's not the whole plot but only one interweaving thread. The trouble is that the romantic bits are all anyone ever talks about.
I couldn't finish Ivanhoe because I thought it was a 'romance', and the romance made no sense. Now that I know 'romance' meant a historical adventure story where romantic interests were incidental and secondary to the main plot, I'm going to give it another go
so instead of getting a story about teenagers being overdramatic, we're getting the story of a teenager only thinking about getting her boyfriend back and causing a lot of trouble for a lot of people while trying to do it? That's what the trailer looks like to me
The fact that there's only 3.3k likes is telling.
In the end she is going to realize that she didn't need Romeo all along and that guy in the carriage is she needed gee....i wonder where i saw that before
Bruuuhhh I love it songggg takes me back to the nostalgic trip every timmeee.... Ah the good old SIMPLER days💗
this movie was amazing, totally gonna watch again. I suggest it to everyone who wants to have a fun couple of hours
This movie is based on the novel WHEN YOU WERE MINE, by Rebecca Serle, which I LOVE!
Seeing Sean Teale gives me Reign flashbacks!
The fact that Juliette and Rosaline are cousins tells me that Romeo has a thing for Capulette women.
Yeah correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't she referred to as Lord Capulet's niece? Tybalt is considered a Capulet even though he's a cousin from her mother's side. I would assume Rosaline is the daughter of his sister since she probably doesn't carry the name which is why it's not a huge deal in comparison to Juilet and there's no way that's not done on purpose especially with little significance she had in the play itself.
This movie is legitimately hilarious
May have to subscribe to Hulu just for THIS!😃
This looks like such an entertaining twist will be watching on hulu.
Do people not like this? It's the most inoffensive movie ever made.
..........buwhahahahaha.......
Wait, you're serious? Let me laugh harder. BUWHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I am going to enjoy the movie, but there is nothing inoffensive about the original RxJ. This is gonna turn it up a notch. (Unless Rosaline accidentally saves their lives in the process.)
I don't think it's offensive. I just didn't like it cause the main character is insufferable

This looks AMAZING! Haha I can't wait!
Girl, you turned him down. He’s 100% in his right to get it with your cousin.
Thank God! I am getting so bored of the same tired recreations. This is brill.
Great cast of younger talent (which is necessary for this story)! Looks hilarious!
Everyones forgetting that this movie is going to have what seems like a tragic and very dark ending.
Really
Not for Rosaline
@@miphill3816 ^^^
It didn't
def gonna watch this, this looks like a riot!
If Rosaline and Dario get a happy end together this will be the best movie
this is the best movie then
I’m happy rosaline never ended up with that fake Romeo. I’m sure Juliet and Romeo will get a divorce in 2 years time !!!
I can tell this will be a fun satire comedy 😂
Seen it. This movie is amazing! It's the new Princess Bride or Ella Enchanted, while standing on its own as fun, witty, romantic and entertaining. Find a way to watch it if you can!
Surprised with this movie, it was really fun and a really interesting take on the original story we all know.
This was a good movie! Highly recommend! 💜💜💜
I absolutely love this movie. Different take on Romeo and Juliet. I like that it was a comedy I'm giving it a thumbs up and a 7 out of 10
I really like this hehehehe gonna watch it.
I’m actually surprised they’re not sticking with Shakespeare language
Ok it actually looks awesome
I loved the movie it was nice and the actors Rosaline and her boyfriend (I forgot his name) are so beautiful! loved them ♥️♥️🦋
I'm a 43 year old dude and this looks fun.
OK, I think I like this. It's like Leonardo Di Caprio's Romeo and Juliet but in reverse. Basically, medieval Europe with modern jargon.
to be fair they're not the only movie or theatre production to have the original language in a modern setting (in fact half of the movies don't even set them in Shakespeare's time, and more often have set them a few centuries before or afterwards)
She would’ve been the perfect Ellie in TLOU, so sad
Except had she been cast everyone would of been like "tHaT's ThE oLdEsT 14 y.O i'VE eVeR sEeN!"
She'd work perfectly for 19 y.o Ellie though.
@@errolpletcher9186 not using makeup could fix that
This ended up being really fun!
Ever since Booksmart, I'm ready to watch Kaitlyn Denver in anything. She's so funny.
Kaitlyn was great with this role!
This is actually a pretty good idea given that literally everybody (Romeo included) forgets that Rosaline was supposed to be a thing.
Bro literally wanted to kill himself over her...
I'll be damned to see a romeo and Juliet story to go down the drainss
This actually looks like fun
Always knew Kaitlyn Dever would go far.
Loved this movie!
This is kinda dumb becuase the whole reason romeo met juliet was because rosalind would’t love romeo🙄
She's so pretty , I'm inlove
Marcos Diaz aka Eclipse is in this? Count me in!
I can't wait to see the movie Rosaline.
Seaaaaaaannnn Tealeeeee❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I don't know who this actress is.
But she is very beautiful. Came to youtube, to find her name only.
Her name is Kaitlyn Dever and she's done projects such as Justified,Booksmart,Unbelievable,
Dopesick and Short term 12
If you mean the one playing Juliet though, that's Isabela Merced (formerly Isabela Moner) who played Dora in Dora and the Lost City of Gold.
This looks like it could be good!
Well at least Rosaline appears right😅
This is Sara corbello one of the girl she played last man standing loved that show
I really hope this ends up being like Banana Split (2018) where the two girls supposedly fighting over a guy become best friends instead.
I really liked this movie❤
Kaitlyn Dever is always so funny.
oh amazing
Already, we found our best girl
Saw the movie it was fun!!!
I’m about to watch this movie for the first time
My favorite part is that in the original play Rosaline is the one who tells Romeo no because she is going to foresware love forever.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 hilarious movie. I love Kaitlin Dever.
EXPECTING AVP LIKE 2014
making fun of Juillets plan is great it really is the dumbest idea ever.
This looks hilarious!!!!
