I can't stand Nan, she played with Theo the entire time and tested his patience. He gave her multiple chances to say her truth but she just pretented and ended up in Guy's arms. What a shame.

She was so selfish... I know she is the main character... But I also don't like her a bit... Theo deserves btr....
I totally fell for Theo as soon as he said he was an artist. If Nan doesn't want him I'd happily take him and the castle. I've only seen bits and pieces - they were cute but ofc the love triangle complicated things. I was surprised she still made the decision to be with Theo. It's gonna break me if she leaves him.
I really loved them but I was so disappointed with the way Nan treated Theo, it's very possible that she doesn't know anything about the plan and thinks she chose him (I say this because of what show creator Katherine Jakeways said), Nan loves Guy that It is clear but it still does not justify that they both betrayed Theo and on top of that one night before their wedding!! I think that's one of the reasons why many viewers don't like GuyNan.
Nan made what Theo hated and feared most come true, not even his own mother cares how unhappy he will be being married to a woman who doesn't love him and who really only did it because she needed his status as Duke. I have seen that many hate him when in reality he is the victim and his biggest mistake is having loved someone so much who did not deserve it, I hope that in S2 he can have his happy ending.
I guess “The Institution always wins”. When Theo read Guy’s telegram to Nan he knew then that Nan was “illegitimate” and he also knew Guy’s feelings for Nan (he did not know how Nan felt about Guy). When Theo ran to read the headlines after having read the telegram, he may have decided that it was less embarrassing to marry Nan and never speak of her secret than to call the engagement off and risk the public finding out that he was engaged to someone with Nan’s background. In the end the Duchess made a similar calculation that it was in the best interest of the institution that they marry regardless of happiness, but to save “The Institution”. I like Theo and believes he deserves better, but he’s not totally blameless either.
Yes things were a lot more then just about the happily ever after of two people back then unfortunately. Marriages made and broke entire families

Nan basically cheated on Theo the night before their wedding with his best friend Guy( he basically climbed in from the window and initiated everything )
You might Justify that true Love is complicated, but it doesn't mean you cheat on your partner
Theo is not fully innocent either, but it was not as horrible as this, he just didn't give the love telegram to his fiance from his own best friend. Theo gave unconditional Love. It's ok to not love him back but cheating on him!!??
Those who ship Nan and Guy they are right, Theo deserves way better

The only way season 2 could be interesting would be if they explored the way Nan might come to love Theo even more than Guy. If overtime, she realizes how wonderful and caring he is. Like they did with Dick and Conchita a bit, how marriage changes so much and they had to grow together. I think it'd be super cool to see they explore this, much more interesting than if Nan simply spends the whole season pining for Guy or worse, turning Theo into a bad guy.
I really hope this happens in s2 🙏🏻😌 i really like them together
poor guy. He searched for someone that would like him for him not for what he have. Thought he found the right person, only for the girl to be exactly that. Being with him for what he have.
She played Theo. I watched s1 and I only came to like Theo's character.
Maybe in the end but I think she was confused for a long time, but her heart was always with Guy. I feel really bad for Theo… hopefully gets with lady Hopeleigh.
@@phillylady yes she was confused and indecisive the whole time. But not bcuz she didn't understand her fondness towards Guy. But bcuz Guy indecisiveness. And I don't she ever said or felt sorry for Theo.
@ravenv1021- agree with you. I didn’t like Nans character in this series. She had soo many chances for an out - Theo gave her that chance at least 3 times, but she’s selfish, and wanted to keep both of them . And what Guy and Nan did the night before her wedding made them both unlikable for me.
Theo loved Nan from day1. Guy was the one that was conflicted and couldn’t say his true feelings until he knew he was going to lose her for good and betrayed his best friend the nt before his wedding.
Both Guy and Nan deserve each otber. Btw.. this is a bit different from the book where I was rooting for Guy/Nan.
@@arlenec3983I get what you’re saying but even though I find Theo’s character to be empathetic, I also believe he displayed some very selfish ways. When I went back and watched his reaction after having read Guy’s telegram in NY, he went straight to the papers to look at the headlines, I think he made the decision then that he’d marry her because now the entire world knows they’re engaged and to keep it secret because something like that really hurts his reputation more than it does hers. He also was quite harsh to Guy by seeking to embarrass him at every turn instead of confronting him about what’s in the telegram. I too hated that Guy and Nan did what they did the night before her wedding because she should have just called off the marriage, but I do believe she still would have called it off but the Duchess too like Theo was very concerned about appearances and thus convinced her otherwise. All in all quite flawed characters, but we must understand how young they were too and that they were not living in today’s society.

The only thing I want to see in Season 2 is Nan falling in love with Theo ❤. This would be much more interesting than turning Theo into a villain and Nan into a sad married woman. Then in a 3rd Season she will choose between the 2 men, but the love triangle should be equal in both sides.
Nan loves Theo but is inlove with Guy.
This turnt out to be a political marriage if anything, a way to protect her loved ones and also not to hurt Theo's image and pride. I have hope that they will fall inlove again once Guy is out of the picture
That didn't happen in the book. And obviously won't happen in a second season if they follow the original story. Her ending Will be Guy, escaping, divorcing, or in any other way. But just him.
Plus: She never Loved Theo. She never said I love you to him. Only one man. And it's Guy.

I genuinely dont know how the show expected me to like Nan and Guy by the rhe end. They are shitty, selfish people who have no qualms with using and abusing Theo's love for them.
Their meeting is so much funnier in the book. When they first meet, Theo is so shy that nan think that he is the stupidest boy she ever met

I never watched this show. But was the girl Nan using Theo? He seems genuinely in love with her and was so good to her. I don’t get why she’s with other guy when she repeatedly told Theo she isn’t in love with the other dude…😒
I can't say Nan was using Theo. It's just that the situation here is more complicated than that. In the beginning their connection felt genuine--and I'd like to add that the actors have good chemistry as well--but Nan has sort of deeper connection with Guy; the way they clicked instantly, their banters, and soulmatism. Despite Guy and Nan liking each other, they were the victims of miscommunication, or rather lack of communication in this case. Guy had lost his wealth, so he was supposed to marry a rich woman, but he didn't do that, because he didn't want to deceive anyone. At the same time, Nan was waiting for him to say something, but he didn't. They both kept giving each other mixed signals. While Theo proposed to her, and one thing led to another. In the end, she decided to marry Theo for he is the Duke, and being a Duchess will give her the power to watch over her sister. So Guy and Nan chose to sacrifice their love for the "greater good". I feel bad for Theo. He does love her, and gives her many opportunities to get out of the wedding, but for Nan, her sister is her priority.
I haven't read the books, and I had no idea how this season was going to end. I thought she was going to call off the wedding 😅

@@natalym7650 I hope you can see the word "was" in my first sentence. Nan wasn't using him in the beginning. She really liked him. I don't think she had an ulterior motive, and was planning to be in power or whatever. She didn't even know he was a Duke when she met him.
In the last episode, obviously, when the course of the plot changes, she's using him for his position. It's evident from what Theo's mom says.
Thanks for the upload. Got bored with Nan's empty dramatic circles by ep 5, but still wondered how it ended. Glad I didn't sit through the whole thing.

What a sad and complicated and a very unfortunate situation.
I feel for all three although none of them are without blame for what they created with their lack of communication and dishonesty in their feelings,.
Sure it can be seen that Nan and Guy have done the ultimate betrayal to Theo in giving into their intense feelings for one another however the moment Theo read that letter and did not give it to Nan and have an open talk about how she was feeling towards Guy and Theo himself, well he sadly let his own personal feelings for Nan override any common sense and they all find themselves in this heartbreaking circumstances because of Nan's strong desire to protect her sister at the cost of her own true happiness with Guy.
This would be decsisions that women would have to make at this time and face the consequences of what they would do.
So for me while I can look at all three for all the bad mistakes they made (for which some want to put all or most of the blame on Nan and Guy), ultimately all I feel for them is sadness, compassion and some empathy for all they are going through and will continue to go through for the choices they felt they had to make.
Hopefully all three can somehow have a happy ending and yes for me that does mean for Nan and Guy to be together like they want to and for Theo to meet the wonderful woman he was meant to be with and who truly deserves him.
It's kind of funny how different this is from the previous adaption of the novel because Theo certainly wasn't rootable especially in his feelings for Nan in that version.
After watching all the episodes, to me, Nans character was getting more unlikable. I liked her in the first couple episodes but she went downhill from there. If there’s a S2, I hope her character is redeemed.

Nooo, I’m in the middle of watching this series (last leg of ep 4) but i was getting suspicious of nan. Here I am, trying to spoil myself so I don’t expect much. Poor theo the guy loved her and genuinely just wanted to be with her. I really liked how nan was full of personality and love the first few eps but she should’ve thought about this BIG BIG decision much more. What will happen when she’ll truly leave theo because of guy. I can’t even imagine the heartbreak😣
I love Theo and nan ♥️ I understand that nan’s heart belongs to guy but come on with Theo they have chemistry,fun and peace, I’m done of romanticized fights and consuming love 😢
Yes! I hated Conchita's speech about love being consuming, denying Nan's description of peace with Theo. So toxic.

watching this show right after watching The Gilded Age was a huge mistake. The writing of this show was so poor. It had a lot of potential. The screenplay was so awkward as well.
I love Theo and hate nan because they were perfect for each other, the chemistry was amazing!!! Guy is a joke he wanted to marry because he needed money and only loved her when someone else was in the picture. Theo saw nan just as she was from the very beginning!
