Both are different kind of composers..!!! They work well in different kind of films.. in kaththi and master.. I can never imagine arr doing the score.. like wise.. I don’t see Ani doing the score or Ponniyin Selvan! That’s the difference..

ARR is a genius man, he uses the famous london philaharmonic orchestra for his compositions just like raja. ARR and Raja are genuises, i am happy for Anirudh and love his music but he is not yet in the leagues of ARR, Raja. Just Dilse album is enough to prove who is ARR. He is a genuis and world class composer.
Yes as Ajims said, the way the listner vibe to their growing age, they easily connect to that composer and assume greatness, that's why today's reels genre thinks anirudh matches to their emotions.
But A.R rahman ,even now his first film roja song is his one of the best for music lovers and he changed the musical sensibilities of that generation till now in different kind of film music genre ,the different and refreshing way each film song and scene get accepted (often take time on repeated listening..😊) musically over these 30 more years in different language film industry,that cant be matched even in the future.

This is like comparing Yashaswi Jaiswal with Sachin Tendulkar.. 😀Legends like Vidyaji and Raja sir can be compared to ARR because they should have huge body of work in different genres of music..Giving hits or getting youtube views are not the criteria to rate their skills. I don't understand why people say Ani's BGM is better...it is just mass music created using samples. There is no class in that. IMO, Sushin Syam and Jakes Bejoy has done it better than Ani. Listen to the songs or BGMs of movies like Iruvar, Bombay or any Mani Ratnam movies..it's pure class! The sound, arrangement, layering, production, melody..everything is great. People who say ARR lost it after 90s, listen to Rang De Basanti songs & BGMs, Jodha Akbar, Mohenjodaro, PS1 & 2...his style of composition might have changed in the process of creating something unique but it is still outstanding. ARR has done it all from Acapella or songs with minimalistic music to songs that have huge arrangements with ease. Let's give it 20 more years to Ani or any budding music directors and if they can consistently produce all types of music for all kind of movies with the same profoundness then we talk!
PS 1 and PS2 ost was just average considering his ability. Rahman had lost his old charm pls do accept..
@@jerinphilipose614 You must have really poor taste in music to say PS1 & PS2 ost was average..it was up there with one of his best. The BGMs really complemented every scene, was unique and fresh and truly international with respect to arrangement..If you had not paid attention the first time, try listening again. For eg: listen to how he changed the "Aga naga" song as a BGM in the first part and see how he elevates that scene. Whether it is this romantic scene or Devaralan attam song or Tiger hunt theme in PS2 or bgms during war sequences were awesome.
