It’s impressive how much personality they were able to give these robots. They really feel like they’re alive in a way.
There remotely controlled bay an actor ever little is real about her statement "they are always learning."
Disney puts a crazy amount of money into their animatronics development.
Each droid has a real person controlling it. Think of the droid as a puppet. They do a good job. I've seen a video of the people who work the controls. They have boxes that look like the kind used to fly model airplanes or maybe like a really large-size X-box controller.
Animators, programmers, 3d modelers, sculpture artist, 2d artist, painters.. all artist, engineers and people involved into this ..THANK YOU.❤
I am so glad that this creation made it beyond the play test stage
11:26 the ducklings show up!
I love how their antennas move lol
I’m impressed how fast they can run. And their battery life with all that sound and motion.
They need to create a cute goodbye routine!
I was just there and I got to see them. I'm a huge starwars fan I cried. I did. They are so amazing and cute I love them so much. Yes it is baby season in Disneyland for the feather friends.
Saw these guys at Galaxy's Edge back in November 2023, had no idea what they were.
They just got there so how
In the games Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order & Jedi Survivor, The main character Cal Kestis has one of these as his companion droid named BD-1
@@pabloramos420 You can Google their first playtest appearances from late 2023 in California. This wasn't their first time being seen by the public.
Baby Droids Awww 🥰
Obviously these were all remote operated but apparently they’re supposed to run off AI in the future.
When they do a full functioning C3PO, i'm moving in Disneyland for life
I want three of them; I'd name them Huey, Dewey, and Louie.
Larry, Moe, and Curlee.
Absolutely! For those not in the know, check out an amazing movie, Silent Running 1972. Maybe a more important film now than when first released. I'm 64, this movie is in my top 10 list of all time favs.
@@roncripe6123 I knew there'd be someone out there who'd get my comment -- 🥰👍
Silent running! Fabulous movie. Always makes me cry!
I want to see them interact with one another more.
Amazing, Bravo creators of these two.. absolutely nailed it.
oh my god 😭this is the cutest thing ever!!!
Disney missed a huge opportunity to name the full trio HU-3 LU-3 and DU-3
I will only refer to them this way-
You know it!!!
I wonder if the audience actually recognizes the amazing technology they are witnessing. We are so conditioned by tv and movies to accept autonomous robots
But only these are NOT autonomous robots. There is a very skilled operator controlling each droid. The operator's skill makes the show. Like a skilled puppeteer can make a sock seem alive. Yes, movies have conditioned us to think autonomous robots are real.
Cute little ducklings!
Orange must be being shy today.
I still think they messed up not naming them HU-3Y, DW-3Y, and LU-3Y.
@@paulgage7495 agreed
@@paulgage7495 YEP!!! LOL
I'm curious as to how autonomous they are. Clearly a lot of the personality movements are programed, but I'd like to know if they primary movement is remote control or not
I think there is someone behind the scene, remote controlling them with FPV cameras.
For a second there I thought that was Linda Hamilton.
Incredible technology, with so much personality. This is exactly the kind of entertainment I'd expect to see in Galaxy's Edge. 🤖👏
This is really impressive. Way more advanced than the real "droids" in Episodes 4 - 6, but remotely controlled I suspect. A great technological triumph for WDI. These droids are chock full of personality. Walt Disney would be blown away.
Walt would not be "blown away", but I think he would have been satisfied for sure. In my humble opinion of course. 🤪
@@DementedCaverHaving any self powered walking robot is incredibly impressive. Well balanced, walking bipeds are very hard to build. Walt would absolutely be impressed
The droids are autonomous. They use artificial intelligence.
@@lyndakorner2383 They literally showed the controllers in a different video
@@OBSDCC7 you are responding to a bot.
I love this so much.
Omg. If you like Star Wars this is you thing. I want one
My god how I’d love to see the control setup for these. This is really impressive!
Amazing robots
For some reason, my brain perceives this as CG
The WDI video they released the other day really looked CG to me, but these look legit
Despite these robots being obviously controlled remotely, I don’t think most people realize just how close we are to creating the kind of actual artificial intelligence we see in movies like Star Wars..😮😮
Probably one of the coolest attractions at the park better than a lot of the rides
Vry cute droids !:-)
Far Out!!!👁️👁️👍✌️👽
There will be in stores before you know it like Christmas🤷🏻♂️
seems some leds and cheap lasers would go a long way
we already treating droids like pets. 😂
Lol the scan noise is a dot matrix printer
I wonder they can upgrade them to have arms somewhere in their chest area?
I want to buy one so bad
OMG I WANT ONE!!!!!!!!
Absolutely incredible! I saw video of them a year or 2 ago and hopefully I'll see them on Wednesday (I'll be at D-land). 🤞
I really wanna have one of these droids cutely roaming my house EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im assuming these are obviously remote controlled buy one person each.
Now if only they would bring out a large Banta as well
The puppeteer working the green droid is better.
are these guys full time or limited?
Those robots have more charisma than most Americans.
Are these autonomous or controlled like drones?
They are controlled by a modified steam deck. There are videos about it on YT.
Sadly they are not for sale…. Maybe one day
Will these ever show up at disney world???
BD-1 real droid's comming.
OMG I DONT WATCH STAR WARS BUT THE DROIDS ARE SO CUTE
If Disney doesn't start selling these to the general public they are missing a massive opportunity.
From what I understand, that's the end goal, but these are prototypes. They're trying to get the programming correct. These aren't just toys with remote controls - they're actual droids with learning programs installed.
They're probably realistically too expensive to make. Seeing as they are only in one park, and roughly only 2-3 of them its a safe bet this cost disney a good amount of $$$$, so I would've hold your breath on owning one of these any time soon.
Yea, it would be amazing if they actually created droids that were in the star wars movies.
What? What happens to the red one???
we live in a world where AI robots are a thing in amusement park.
can someone buy these
I've heard of training droids, but never a droid "trainer". Disney just making up whatever for their cashcow. These robots just walk out of a door and everyone is acting like it's the most amazing thing ever. lol
You have to admit the droids look real. Yes, they are just some plastic and motors using radio remote controlled motion but it is done well enough that they look real. Also the show is designed around the capabilities of the droids. They need to keep the crowd at a distance and this is the real purpose of the "trainer". She is crowd control but also with her narration, she makes it seem like the droids have purposeful behavior.
I’m over here looking at the crowd to see who’s piloting the droid.
Best guess is the individual on the far right in the pink outfit and blue scarf always has their hands behind their back and turned away from the crowd.
That whole line of folks has badges on and other indicators they are Employees of some sort. The one with the scarf does not which might mean they are the operator.
@@micerr They might be the actual engineers observing their work. Voice recognition, "quirks", locomotion, and maybe visual recognition is now autonomous. Better than my Telsa, but not by much.
These are actual droids. They're not just toys with remote controls. They're loaded with a type of AI program to get them to learn things. They move on their own, observe, and more. There are a few videos that Imagineering has put out about them. Just look them up.
So wait they put a robot suit on two Ducks ? What the #ucks 😮.. .👀
Can I buy one that’s the real question
The tour group look like Broadway actors. Wow these droids are simply amazing.🤠🤯🦾🦆
I Like Those Robots
Looks alot like Wall-E.
They're so smol ☹️
the droids are good, but they really need to work on the show it's self.
Those droids walk like ducks
Just a little different vs the ones you buy there🙄
now make them ai controlled lol
these are Nvidia BDX droids, and are AI driven, not remote controlled.
@@flex2themax No, they aren't. I caught the remote control operators in photos. It totally burst the bubble of happiness I'd created when I saw these. It was a total letdown to see them controlling the droids. :(
Its not completely AI, its controlled from control room by other humans.. just know that
Nope, not even from a control room. The cast members controlling them aren't even hidden very well. They're standing in full view with complex remote controls.
They both little robot should be in Star Wars movie. That will be great.
they are 100% remote controlled. all their personality comes from the person controlling them
Just wondering if the Nvidia demo was BS then?
People are collecting every little detail on these droids to make their own, guarantee it.
This will definatley single handedly save the dying franchise. I am assured. My lack of is relinquished....
These are cute i prefer my robots to look like robots instead of trying to make them look like people because most realistic ones look like sleep paralysis demons
I don't like image scans and collect data.
For a long time, I thought these droids were autonomous, until I watched MKBHD visit Disney Imagineering Lab, and saw that these robots are being controlled remotelt by humans. Meaning, all these personality are not autonomous. Still great tech though, but more of like a remote controlled mascot, contrary to thinking it that it really was an AI behaving autonomously.
Never thought i could get so tired of an IP like Star Wars, yet here we are. Thanks BlackRock, for ruining everything.
If you guys watch carefully..... the first 2 people that come out are the ones with the controllers ;) You're welcome
Not sure if anyone is aware, but these are Nvidia BDX droids, and are AI driven, not remote controlled.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but that isn't true. In another video you can see two guys holding remote controls walking behind them. czcams.com/video/xQepHC1e2tA/video.html
@@mcklown Please note: If you talk to the handlers they'll tell you the remotes are there to ensure the BDX follows the logic route assigned to prevent damage, but the BDX behavior and mobility themselves are completely autonomous.
Only took them how many years to finally implement this idea? Let me think, it's only been talked about for a, I don't know, when Galaxy's Edge was shortly announced. Only took them over five years to deliver on that promise after the world opened back in 2019!
They were supposed to be an attraction in the park, They were rolled out for one day to impress the shareholders and then quickly put back in their boxes, Disney has no shame.
since when did cast members get to cross their arms and put their hands in their pockets?
They're probably the actual engineers of the droids.
Perhaps, but they are in costume and they look to be onstage. As a former cast member, I am disappointed to see this, that’s all.
They're Imagineers.
@@bncsmom1right. So they’re cast members.
@@s2hull They're not Theme Park Cast Members. They're IMAGINEERS. They're a completely different type of Cast Member which doesn't work with the public nearly as much as the Theme Park Cast Members do and thus have completely different rules to follow.
Are they Woman droids and gay?
the fuck is a droid trainer?
a person that trains droids
All this amazing technology... Let down by a terrible actress 😳
Is Disney letting these digital bots become non-binary? 😂
Those things are adorable and impressive but they need to find a better way of presenting them.
The ladies rambling is a bit annoying
She's not a normal Theme Park Cast Member; she's an Imagineer. You might be annoyed by her but that's really neither here nor there.
Edited to remove some of my original beliefs about these droids. They are remote controlled, I saw the Imagineers using the remotes myself, even photographed one covertly. It was a total letdown. But the rest of my comment stands. She's an Imagineer, not a Theme Park Cast Member. It's a totally different type of Cast Member who doesn't work with the public as much as the Theme Park Cast Members. She's generally behind the scenes. This is totally out of her element but at the same time it fits. Her role here is as a mad scientist might be. The rambling fits the role.
More Pixar than Star Wars.
Nice toy's, now build something useful
😂 idk man... those themeparks ALLWAYS cringed me out. But its not the obvious plastik environment or that lets pretend we are Star wars characters... it is the people who are amazed by that... that aaawwww... it looks so real... no its not. Those themeparks always feel like soulless shallow plastic... and those "actors" like that Lady here, make it worse imo. IDK man...
The women is so bad it is hard to watch.....very amateurish for disney....must have been another DEI hire
She looks and sounds like her name is Karen
typical congregation of the disney shills.
Disney fucked the Star Wars legacy forever.
Bad. I get these are repurposed junk druids, but they are not pets or babies. They have a basic O/S that allows for basic functionality and operation....not Star Wars..... 😢
Actually they are AI controlled learning robots so they are kind of babies by definition. They are powered by NVIDIA AI learning apparently, nothing basic about them only limited by their capabilities just like us. It's kind of crazy
@@James_RangerWalker Unfortunately, that's all smoke and mirrors. They're remote controlled. I was there on May 4th and saw the CM with the remote for one of them. It was a major letdown.
Does not look like Star Wars
I want one where can I get one they're so cute I'm going to 44 year old man and even I think that's adorable
