The best thing about her is she KNOWS her capability, she often stays at her best range and I love that. She a smart vocalist. Most singer these days sings higher than they comfortably can but Taeyeon often stays at her diamond range (A4~D5). She does sometimes sing higher but it's not that much so it doesn't harm her chords. Also yes in this video, she approach with more nasal quality. But believe me when she dropped that nasal tone and just do an open free belt, she's one of the most open korean vocalist out there and it felt like a tsunami wave or an earthquake because how big it is. Appreciate your reaction ❤️
Finally someone that appreciates Taeyeon in a musical way. Yes you are absolutely right, she knows how to stay in her comfortable range and use the right type of voice for it which is what makes her songs deceptively easy but when you try to sing it you will realise it's not.

@@Katriinka the closest we've gotten to a Taeyeon/IU collab recently is Taeyeon singing Hotel del Luna OST (the 1st OST she sang in this video), which is a drama that stars IU as the main character. it's a great drama btw, definitely recommend since u wanted recommendations 💕

Seeing a person that never reacted to anything Taeyeon related before get (in so little time) that Taeyeon is a story teller. It’s such a joy as a fan of hers and also knowing that her “emotional singing” is one of the perks she’s known for in the industry, truly a joy.
Taeyeon's company SM Entertainment is known to train some of the best "natural" singers (SNSD, EXO, SHINee, f(x), Red Velvet, NCT, Aespa etc.) who do not sacrifice their voice's natural tone and health all for the style. The SM idols tend to have very long singing careers and almost never damage their voices over the years. Instead they just become stronger and stronger as they age.
Taeyeon has been in the Kpop industry for almost 15 years and she sings just as good as, in fact better than, when she first debuted with SNSD in 2007.
Edit: Btw she is also commonly known as the "Queen of OST". She sings a loooooot of songs in Kdramas and films (some of them are sung in this video). This is probably because she is such an amazing storyteller. Every drama wants her to be the voice of its story. Some say that her OST songs always sound like they're sung by the female protagonist in those dramas.
OST Queen. Most, if not all, of the KDrama that she sang an OST for is successful in South Korea.

I honestly and genuinely recommend you listen to more of Taeyeon's discography. Her musicality is so diverse, and her vocals are amazing in all of them. So many new fans that get into Kpop these days only know IU for female soloists which is sad because Taeyeon is SO GOOD.
Yup I agree. Because Taeyeon is not heavily promoted by SM any more, some Korean fans are so mad SM don't appreciate her enough. And in terms of vocal capabilities she's far ahead of most other popular singers in Korean.
Because IU sang and acting at the same time, she gained a lot of new fans, plus the collaboration with BTS made her more known internationally, Taeyeon mainly just sang and maintained her throne for 15 years as one. very respectable, look at how she's still at the top right now

The first OST she sang is actually an OST for IU's drama Hotel Del Luna! It's a great drama.
And a little fun fact. The last song, Drawing Our Moments, actually has a little back story. It was released at January of 2020 on her 2nd repackaged album and the moment it was released fans immediately requested it to be put on the setlist for her next concert but the pandemic happened and she has never sang the song live ever. We're really desperate to hear it live lol and she knows how much we've demanded it so Taeyeon including it on this setlist is such a huge gift for us. U R and Drawing Our Moments are like her legendary masterpieces so you can see why we desperately want it 😂.
I've only recently got into Kpop and it's because of SNSD and I remember hearing those amazing belts and highnotes. After doing a bit of research I realised that it's mainly Taeyeon who does those notes and went into a deep dive into her solo work. Drawing Our Moments is probably my favourite song from her after Fine. Thank you for the back story. I've tried looking for her live Drawing Our Moments but now I understood why there were none.. Hopefully she performs it live when things goes back to normal!

I love Taeyeon so much. She really is that storyteller that takes you places without having to understand a word she sings.
I always cry everytime i heard ‘I’ because of how beautiful her voice is, the music and the message of the song. All her music especially ballad & ost, they can connect to audience in a way that even if you don’t fully understand the lyric you still feel the emotion and you’ll get emotional. There are reasons why SM treasure her, there are reason why JYP name her as one of the best, why every idol look up to her.

There is not many kpop idol / singer whose technique is better than her , probably can only count them with one hand
I think what you should do with Taeng is to do a bit of research. Watch her older performances vs her newer performances and breakdown the change in her technique and style over the years as she matures as an artist. Even at this age she's already a veteran of the industry and no matter what anyone says about her, they can't say that she can't sing.

Taeyeon has never once failed to deliver a good performance even when she's sick. I highly suggest you watch her performances at her concert for Fine, UR, Gravity, Time Lapse. She also sang When We Were Young in Begin Again.
Listen to all of her albums. I especially love her My Voice album, but Purpose, What Do I Call You and INVU albums are a close second. While the rest, although not my favorite, are still great to listen to.
And also, after listening to all of Taeyeon's songs, maybe you can check SNSD perfs as well as SNSD TTS (taeyeon's a part of this subunit) cover of Cater To U. There's a reason why they're called the 'Nation's Girl Group' and why they are still famous individually more than a decade after their debut.

woahhh i learned a lot of things (technical stuff) just watching this. i just love Taeyeon and i know that whatever she release, it's automatically a great song. hence, people call her the "trust and listen" to Taeyeon. but the things you said are 🤯 this must be why lots of composers/lyricists/producers in korea love her and wants to make a song for her to sing. and idols/artists in korea idolize Taeyeon too. i wish and hope for her to sing, to do what she loves to do, for as long as she can.

I used to play them to my 8 month old baby until now, she normally couldn't sit still but when she watches Taeyeon sings, she just sits and listens.
this was a great showing for her. taeyeon as a vocalist has a lot of self-awareness - she knows what her strengths are and she knows what her limits are. most of her discography is within her comfort range, with a few songs pushing the boundaries to challenge herself. but she knows she excels in her midbelts around A4-D5 and she def showed that here
