    Yes, it was an advanced design of parachute for high speed deployment. The engineer that designed this parachute came to the US and was instrumental in the design of NASA recovery parachutes, some of which are used today.

      I don't think a hurricanes ever shot one down. I know a spitfire got one. think the tempest got a few. They were normally attacked when taking off and landing
