Very nice review with practical points. I have RS 1 inch 360 and love to use it, left all my others cams on shelve...

i own now - after x1 and x2 - the x3... and still: i wonder if i should also geht the 1-inch for that better image quality...
questions:
sound: the sound of the 1-inch is said to be worse.. is that also true when using a external mic? what bitrate does it use for audio? is the X3 here better?
can i also work with the insta-remote (i used for my x2) with the 1-inch? does it support an remote?

Thanks Stewart. Did I miss a side-by-side comparison of DIVE SHELL on/off and LENS LIDS on/off. Day/Night street driving, where the “front of camera” is pointed, and the seems (probably a 20 minute video)
Thanks Stewart for the vid. please correct me if I'm wrong as I'm a new 360 user, I found the desktop app is rather limited in feature/function compared to mobile app. I couldn't do sany splitting or stiching on diff videos, nor adding stickers, text, audio. Seem like I need something like premier pro or davinci to continue the workflow. Sorry for the rather digressed query.

Hey! Post production is pretty quick when you get used to it. Plus you've got no setup time on the day of shooting so you get a bit back there.
With 360 video, the whole idea is in post process. That’s the moment when you get to choose which angle of the sphere to use….

Do you recommend those action camera like insta360 whatever model, GoPro, Dji should wear silicone cover? Or does it will heat the camera faster? Purpose to avoid the hurts like what you had and scratches those cam body and lenses 😢😢

Good VIDEO! But I would like to ask for your opinion when you get a small moment spare!
I do vehicle recovery in UK on CZcams, so always into like a mixture of moving segments in my video, currently use the ozmo action, but need a 360 camera for better angles and better viewing experience, which one would you recommend for mainly moving action videos?

Interesting the zoomed in part at the beginning with you sitting on the bench. The X3 seemed to resolve better than the 1-inch.

Does tbe RS 1" have active HDR video shooting mode? If not, can we do something in post in the desktop app?
This videos timing is great. The x3 seems like a great all rounder but most of my use cases would be in dark environments, night time or clubs etc. Think the RS1 inch would be the best for that scenario? That price jump is quit le significant too so it's definitely giving me pause.
Yes it would be, but it's still not going to perform well in a club for example. It's the best choice of the 3 but I would never call it a low light camera - especially for video.
X2 is best. X3 isn't worth it for just a larger display
i use the x2 for my solo skate sessions, and i find the resolution limited when i zoom in .
oh god... so confusing. IF x3 and Rs are same price, what would you choose? i`m going to play snowboarding with sons tommorow, and before that i`ll get one. Main usage will be 360 filming trip. 80% 360 film, and rest 20% will take a photo.

Hi thx for a good comparison video. Now I want to make awesome 360 videos and I love the 1" as it has better quality but for $543 more than the X3 it should be a lot better. Like it should have 10 bit color, 4k 120 fps, even better low light as when we look at the dii Air S2 which has a 1" it has 10bit and Video ISO 6400 photo 12000 and its not as versatile as the X3 so unfortunately I think I'm going to get the X3 at this point but would love for insta to improve the 1" as then I'll defiantly get it.

Has anyone done any live recordings on a music show? I just want to know if the mic recording is comparable with that of a gopro. I know its not awesome audio quality for live shows but it just has to be sufficiant for short live video's of me on stage.
It's sad, they're discontinuing the 1" module. It's such a sweet option, when it comes to action cameras.
Which is nice to know. I wanted a 360 camera and if the RS had the option to come with the 1inch I would have bought it. However the 1 inch module is £400+ as a standalone item. It's the X3 then.

Thanks for this video! I'm looking to replace my One X2 so this was very timely. I've started experimenting with upscaling my footage with Topaz Video AI. First results have been impressive. Do you have any workflow tips for 360 video upscaling?
I did a try with Topaz Video AI and unfortunately I couldn’t see an interesting improvement. On photo, Topaz tool are doing great but not on video. Maybe there is special process to follow. Would be happy to see your results’
@@panhobbypanhobby9470 I used it on my last video for all the INSTA360 footage. I edited the clips in the INSTA360 studio app then ran it through Topaz before doing the final edit in FCPX. I found the definition looked better but most importantly it got rid of the grain from the low light from the rainy day and evening shooting time.
@@johnvilja I've used Topaz Video AI on my 360 footage also but it was painfully slow to process. What video card are you using and how long did it take per frame?
@@RealGaryGibson I'm running it on a M1 MacBook Pro so it ran about 0.4 seconds per frame. I was able to process all of my footage for the video while I ate lunch. The real root of my original question was to see if anyone had tested the full matrix of options to see what gave the best results. What are the best export settings from the Insta360 app (HD vs. 4k?, remove grain?, H.264/H265/ProRes?) vs. which AI model in Topaz? I was hoping someone had run the matrix for a recommended work flow.
@@johnvilja Thanks! 0.4 seconds is way better than my old RTX card could do. My workflow is Insta360 Studio to export full resolution, 5.7k in ProRes format, then I use Topaz using Proteus Fine Tune exporting to PNG lossless. If I remember right it was around 10 or 12 seconds per frame. Took forever but the results were great! I've been trying to figure out if that workflow will go faster if I get an Nvidia 3090 or 4090 GPU. But it's hard to find much info about that.
I tried a bunch of different models but I found Proteus to give me the best results. My original footage had low sharpening set in my 360 cam.
Which one do you recommend between DJI pocket 3 & ONE RS 1' ? .Footage quality is my main priority .Thanks!

Does the Leica do action well? I'm looking for a quality camera for driving shots on the front of my car.

Great video Stewart, I wouldn't trust the advertised underwater capabilities of Insta 360 camera's, my One R was about 3 feet underwater and the brain module fried, had to send it back to Insta 360 and they replaced the brain module and charged me half price which was decent of them as it was well out of warranty but I won't be putting it back in water unless it's in a dive case, just something to be aware of.

360 1" is great
where are the footage?
I won the 1" 360 camera. So I have it I don't use it that much because I don't think about it. The last time I did the battery died too quickly. I do some event photography, and it only lasted 30 minutes. My camera is quite heavy (Sony A74 with the Tamron 35-150 lens) so adding dead weight is not something I want to do...

Thanks for the video. If my primary usage is to make 360 Fotos, for example for roomtour or street view, which one would you recommend? In another video someone said that the 72MP from the x3 are not really 72MP, it is upscaled or something like this...

As an existing one x2 owner, can't I just get a 1inch 360 mod to get the best of both worlds?
The X2 isn't modular so it can't be upgraded. If you have an RS you can upgrade with the 1 inch 360 lens.

Sorry, I ment to write one R owner! Surely I could get the 360 1inch mod system and have the best of both worlds. For clarity, I only have the standard 360 mod with my one R. I didn't see the point of the 4k mod - but, I was interested in the original 1inch mod, until that is I discovered it was a fixed aperture.

Thank you - I bought the X3 last October and have travelled Thailand & Australia with it over the last 4 months.
It's been a great camera but my biggest learning point is that it's very easy to drop and Lens Guards are a must, Luckily, I had them fitted but I didn't bring any spares so chunks of my later footage has visible lens scratches on it :(
I've since found a shop in Bangkok that sells genuine lens guards and I have now bought 3 sets and see them as disposable items.
RS 1” was the worst camera ever created.
You should avoid all insta360 cameras. I suppose no one has read the terms and conditions and privacy policy? For a start in the terms it states you are signing up to a service, and the camera will not work if they decide to terminate the service, which they will do if you break and Chinese law. Also to use the camera you MUST use their app, which communicates with multiple Chinese web servers constantly, and if you try to block them with a firewall the app will not connect with the camera. These cameras are junk. Do your research before you invest 100’s of € on a service that relies on access to Chinese servers, where you never truly own the camera. I just bought the 1RS 1inch 360 based on you tube reviews, now I have a €1100 paperweight.
