Fun facts about this match:
A key factor to Brazil's humiliation was Captain Thiago Silva's suspension for collecting too many yellow cards and Star Player Neymar's injury in the previous match, giving Brazil a significant handicap.
Brazilian player Fred, who had already underperformed throughout the World Cup, became one of the most heavily criticized players after this match. When he was subbed off the fans would boo whenever the camera filmed him.
The darkest moment for Brazil at this match was from the 23rd to 29th minute, where the Germans pummelled Brazil with 4 goals in 6 minutes (Klose with one, Kroos with two in quick succession, and Khedira with another one).
After the first half, with Germany leading 5-0, the German players decided they didn't want to humiliate Brazil (so much for that plan), playing much less aggressively and tuning down goal celebrations in the second half. Still didn't stop them from scoring two more goals though.
*And my favourite fact:*
The football rivalry between Brazil and Argentina is so intense that, despite being utterly annihilated by them in this match, Brazilian fans still went to cheer for Germany against Argentina in the final.
Well some Brazilians even cheered for Germany by the end of the game against Germany. If I was Brazilian I would cheer for Germany in the final as well

But that aside, I don't think there is anyone in Brazil who thinks less of Germany after that match. They were doing their job and were even merciful, it was our incompetence that caused that to happen.
It is funny though that for the 2 most successful footballing nations in the world with several big games between them like this and the 2002 World Cup final there is no hate, at least from the Brazilian side, I don't know enough German people to know theirs. Argentina is obvious but we have more of a rivalry with Italy and even France than we do with Germany. Wasn’t into ‘soccer’ (football/futbol - yes I’m American) much but I remember this day in particular, I decided to check up on some of the games to see what was up because this event only happens every couple of years. The absolute destruction I witnessed had me in shock and I wondered if this was normal for your typical game, it was not. Needless to say I became a fan of Germany by the end of it.
Edit: and the memes were funny
Losing 2-0 or even 3-0 in a world cup is still tolerable for most fans whose country are losing. But if you pass 3-0, prepare to be humiliated by the masses, including your own fans.
How do you feel about Germany now in this World Cup 2022 especially with losing to Japan?
I do too! I was.... damn, I was like 13 then. I'm not a soccer fan at all but I love to watch the World Cup. I was completely horrified at what I saw. Completely horrified! I knew that this wasn't simply a beating, it was destruction. It would be like an NFL team playing a college team, the score would be like 80 to 0, literally, that's how ugly a shutout this was. And then to see the crowd's faces, you could tell it wasn't just a game, it was genuine, human tears. It was actually kinda hard to watch
For me as a German fan, this quickly turned from "YEAH, WE'RE WAY AHEAD AGAINST BRAZIL!!!" to "Oh... Yeah no, that's... That's too much..."
Yeah, like for the 7th goal it was like: really, was that still necessary?
"Stop, stop! He's already dead!"
That was the players' reaction as well; they held back in disbelief. True gentlemen.
@Cyber Ghost 2.0 yeah, I remember when our keeper Neuer got mad at the defense for slacking off, causing Brazil to score the 1 goal. He was probably the one most ambitious to bring this home as a flawless victory, while the rest of the german team, as well as many of the german fans, started to feel pity.
But just as much as Germany was feeling pity, as far as I can remember, Brazils team crumbled apart under the sheer desperation and frustration. Had Germany maintained their motivation, I don’t really want to picture the crushing score that might have been achieved. Though maybe this might have actually motivated Brazil in turn, as the purpose for giving their best would not have been to fight their way out of an unavoidable loss anymore but rather to reduce the score gap as much as possible. Which is definitely achievable and worth fighting for.
But who knows really. It was a match to go down in the history books regardless. It just stopped being fun to watch after like half an hour.
No I wanted them to keep going 😂
David Luiz: I just wanted to bring happiness to these people.

This was the first World Cup I’ve ever seen in my life. I watched it with my mum and her then-boyfriend from the Netherlands, which we decided to support since England failed to qualify. I’ll never forget her complete and utter disbelief seeing Brazil, the other team she was supporting, getting absolutely bodied by Germany to point of leaving the room. I, a kid at that time, could only continue to watch the match in confusion and interest. Probably the most surreal and unforgettable watch of my childhood, and also a lot of nostalgia for me.
Also this World Cup is turning 10 years old holy crap.
The team was not mentally prepared for the tournament and it really surprised me that Scolari never included senior players like Kaka and Robinho in the squad. Honestly, even if there is Neymar and Thiago Silva, they would have still lost but not by a huge margin. The Germans were a well-oiled unit and they are totally patient and technical in their playing.
Kaka played 2002, he's way too old, he would've been trashed, too
Nowadays, it is unanimous here in Brazil that that squad was terrible and that Felipão was a totally outdated coach. Even though at the time many journalists were already saying this
This match makes people cry for any of these reasons:
Joy [German]
Despair [Brazil]
Laughter [Mostly anyone else]

to this day I remember watching this game I was 10 years old and I was watching it in shock. After the first 3 goals I was pretty sad but I thought we could make a come back. After they scored 2 more the realization set in that we were going to loose badly in our own home. Because sports build national identity, just look at polls of Africans after a world cup, even though their borders were drawn randomly by Europe in the 19th century with no regard to language, tribes, religion or ethnicities they still show a high sense of belonging after a major sports event
CZcams and Brazil get into an argument
Brazil insults CZcams
CZcams: I will bring back those old videos😂😂😂
Wait, is this for real?
That is so gloriously petty.
I absolutely LOVE it!!!

hilario é ver inglês saindo de sua terra para fazer guerra por um estado terrorista.
Can someone translate that, cause google translater won´t give a shit
Jerubicarmus it says "hilario see english is coming out of his land to make war by a terrorist state." Well done google translate!
IT'S SO FUNNY
This is the Brazilian equivalent of 9/11
The fact that this video got more view than the highlights of this match explains a lot 😂
For those who don't watch football: this is the equivalence of the neighbouring dad cranking your lawn mower on the first pull, in front of your wife and children.
utter shame
Lmao you utter tool.
Thanks! Imma be using this clever line constantly now.
Oh ugh uhh......
I even felt shame reading that.
CZcams remembered this moment from 7 years ago and wants to share it with all of us now
Well this one is part of the circle of notifications. It gets re-recommended from time to time.
Yeah, it was for me today
holy it is 7years ago. wtf lol
Even after all those years, their tear are still yummy and spark joy
[grins in german] Ausgezeichnet ...
Even now, 7 years later, I simply cannot comprehend what I witnessed.
Oh man I remember this. Back then I was still a humble sophomore at my college. Good times.
as a german, this was by far the best soccer game i have ever watched. my dad was in a pub with friends and he said himself that the first 2-3 goals, everyone cheered, and then all the rest of the goals after those ones, the mood went from ecstatic to shock.
Shock? Would you please elaborate on that?
@@starliner2498 most of the guys in the pub/bar were old enough to remember germany's win in 1990, and they watch the world cup every time its happening, but nobody in that room had seen such a game in their lives
Does everyone says "soccer" In Germany.
@@unfunnydude5712 is called Fußball in german
Of course it was to you lol
When England lost my entire family of Brazilian fans kept poking fun at me for being a fan of England . So I kept hoping for Brazil to get knocked out every game they played, when it finally happened it wasn't even satisfying. It was just sad
Really? I was dying laughing watching the tears flow, lol! Its just soccer, like who cares, but it devastated them hahah!
@@ondry8780 I wasn't indifferent, I was enjoying the suffering since it was over something so inconsequential. Can you imagine how delicious licking a tear from their cheek would taste? Its like a thousand stolen frenchfries all at once. If it were over something of significance, that would be different, but since its childishness over a game I relish it still heheh!

When you're Colombian and you remember the unfair way Brazil played against Colombia, then you watch this: this does put a smile to my face.

Gosh. I love the passion. So badass
1 word: HUMILHAÇAO.
Brazil was lucky, Germany took it slower during the second half. Could have been easily 20-0 for Germany.
haha
Could have been 10-0 at least, but the German players were told to let off and not hammer their hosts because of what it could have meant to their nation... and the Germans letting up on a team? That alone tells you just how bad Brazils defeat was.
That's the story, there was also fear that the Brazilians would riot.
legbreaker Absolutely. The game was over at half time because they had absolutely no chance of coming back and winning 6-5.
I believe Germanys trainer, Jogi Löw, said to the "Mannschaft" that they should take it slow, because they are in Brazil and you don't want to destroy them fully.
Indeed, could have been easy 10:0

Pretty much the football equivalent of an atomic bomb
I remember this one. This wasn't a match this was a massacre
Yeah, I was dumbfounded while watching it LIVE on TV; thought the 3rd goal was a replay or something. Things just happened way too fast for my eyes.
@@ashik_fahmin It was 1-0 I went to toilet it got 6-0 i was laughing so much i had to go to bed my mom said: "Wake up! It's 8!" I fell on the floor of laughter and said:"They are still scoring?! 🤣" True story

Germany played well.
I was on a flight when this game was happening, the pilot had radioed ahead and came onto to the PA to tell us the score was 7-1, absolutely nobody believed him. 😂
