- DAY 16 - WI v. Jessy Kurczewski | #VerdictWatch - A Wisconsin woman is facing life in prison if convicted of killing a friend in her care by poisoning her with eye drops. Jessy Kurczewski, 39, is charged with one count of first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of felony theft in the 2018 death of Lynn Hernan. Opening statements began in the Waukesha County court of Judge Jennifer Dorow.
Prosecutors say Kurczewski killed Hernan, whom she was caring for, and staged the scene to look like a suicide by drug overdose. Hernan reportedly died after drinking a water bottle mixed with 6 bottles of Visine.
Kurczewski told police Hernan was suicidal and “had been trying to kill herself by drinking Visine in vodka,” according to a criminal complaint. Investigators say, in total, Kurczewski stole $290,210.06 from Hernan before and after her death.

Thank you to the jury and the state. Thanks to the judge who made sure the defense stopped victim blaming.
So guilty she cried before the verdict. I believe justice was served thank you to all of the prosecutors and investigators.That was the prettiest judge lady I have ever seen.

She really didn't think they would find her guilty. Her mom was didn't show any emotion whatsoever when the verdicts were read. Justice for Lynn was served.

LOL the mom created that narcissistic monster, I'm sure that the mom told her look, I have a old friend from back in the day and her parents recently passed, she came into 200k and we should go over there and see what we could do to try to get her money. If she didn't suggest the theft, she definitely dropped a dime about Lynn receiving the inheritance. I'm surprised the court didn't bring up the fact that Jesse murdered Lynn about 2 months after the August 2018 case of Visine poisoning that made national news. And I wish that the state would have had its investigation look further back into the beginning of the poisonings, AKA Lynn's mystery illness suddenly started affecting her shortly after the year she got the inheritance when she began spending more time with Jennifer and Jessy...😮

And if she care about Lynn as much as she " swore to God"😡 why did she not mention to the doctor and nurse that she has been drinking vision can this be a problem?
I appreciate looking out at the public seating area and seeing that the LEOs, EMTs, etc, care enough about the victim to be present for the veredict. Good verdict, justice was served.
I was excited to see Attorney Sue Opper in the gallery during closing arguments. I don’t know how she survived Darrell Brooks. It was good to see her looking nice and relaxed.
I cannot believe she really thought she might get away with murdering someone! Actions have consequences, and when you have the nerve to kill someone after you have robbed them blind, life in prison in the consequence you deserve!

Justice for Lynn!! Oh and Ms Flowers, this is what happens when you raise a thief. She would have been back to doing the same damn thing had she got off on this murder. No doubt, as soon as she found another victim. She should have gotten a job and paid for her own alcohol Apple Watches and flat screens like the rest of us do. I’d LOVE to be able to buy my son a new bedroom set just because but most of us work and live within our means 👌🏼

You nailed it when you said she would’ve found another victim to support her gambling and spending habits if found not guilty. I’m not a hundred percent sure her mom wasn’t involved or at least had an inkling that Jessie was up to no good because Jessie paid her rent from money she stole from the victim.

She sure didn’t learn her lesson the first few times she was convicted of forgery and she did it even worse by murdering an elderly woman that trusted her, and bragged about being so good at forging things. I have no doubt she stole every bit over the hundred thousand, but the jury couldn’t prove where the cash went. I also think her mother posed as Lynn for her there’s no way she could have completely alone forged herself into an elderly lady every time she got a loan or withdrew money or spoke on the phone. She is going right back where she belongs for life. She is a leech and a taker.
I wasnthinking about hiw much Lynn was suffering, being so sick from the eye drops all of the time, but with very little ability to take care of herself, given the poison and the alcoholic beverage it was mixed with. Lynn laying in her chair day in and out with mostly only Jessie visiting. I wonder if Lynn ever came to enough to be suspicious? Doesn't matter now, but glad she got justice finally.

The 3rd count was for $87K so over $10 but under $100. The second count was interesting to me but they had asked for a calculator and I do wonder what they excluded to bring that count to less than $100K.

Jennifer benefitted from her best friends death, she even got a 75" tv on Lynn's dime the day she died. She even helped Jessy clean out Lynn's safety deposit box. I bet she didn't shed a single, genuine tear when she 'found' Lynn's body, in her home when she saw her lifeless body, that she staged as a suicide, before she called 911. She actually didn't like Lynn at all, everything she said about her was nasty, she never said a single nice thing about her at all, it was all negative stuff that served herself. What a horrible hollow, selfish, greedy, low life excuse for a human being, she deserves what she gets from hereon!

What a tragedy. The really sad part is that Jessy would have stood to gain probably most of her ill gotten funds and maintained her freedom had she not been so damn greedy.

I woke up from my nap and just started crying as soon as the first count was read! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 I know it sounds stupid, but I've been projecting a lot of pain from the lack of justice on behalf of my cousin when she was murdered. RIP Lynn the triple OG, and Maureen Lynn who never saw 25. Her case never even made it past investigation because she had became an addict (heroin) in the couple of years before her murder.
You can’t go around killing old ladies for money. Stealing from them is one thing. Taking it to murder is next level UNFORGIVABLE. Jessy accept what you have done, own it, and get through the consequences. Lynn should not have been slowly poisoned for you to steal her money. She had $87 in her account. You cleaned her out then you wanted to claim her estate. You need to go to prison and do the right thing now, do the time.
The prosecutors said at the news conference that they and the detectives (though the detectives don't make the call to bring charges) have not ruled out charges for Jennifer. They had to be non-committal but I would think Jennifer is not sleeping very easy these days. Couldn't Jennifer now be charged with benefitting from the proceeds of crime? She got tangible property - TV, Apple Watch, etc. - and rent paid from stolen funds. No idea how hard something like that is to prove though. Will be interesting to see if anything comes of this.
Well done jurors for painstakingly going through all the evidence and testimonies to get a verdict. As with past comments I thank all the hardworking law enforcement personnel and state attorneys for their brilliant work. As with previous criminal cases greed can suck you in to commit horrendous crimes. If only Jessy got professional help for her gambling addiction. 😣

There is no system that would have held this woman from speaking with her daughter. I'm sure a close eye was kept on her due to media, etc. She clearly is not a loving mother. The Jury did a good job ! Lynn got justice and she won't do this to anyone else . There is no way her mother didn't know what was going on . Also the State did awesome ! As always Judge Dorow did a excellent job. Now arrest the mother ! The woman defense attorney tried to cause problems every chance she got with Judge Dorow . She isn't professional or respectful . But the state were professional and respectful .

It was absolutely gut-wrenching to learn that Lynn had $87 in her account at the time of her death knowing that she had over $200,000 just in 2018. And knowing how she lived, I feel like I know her. Like, I know the triple OG stylist who has hella stories about winning dance competitions and drinking grown men under the table back in the seventies and eighties, doing coke off the first fake titty seen in town town type stuff... LOL😂 she just seemed like a fun person who wanted to have friends and who was lonely and her older age, but don't try to play her out! Something image has told me that she knows God and justice was at hand. I know what it's like to loose people close and I'm not even 60, I'm only 43 and I have lost over 30 close friends. My Grands both passed away within 6 months of each other in 2015 and 16, and then my other grandmother passed away as well that same year. I can't imagine the loneliness Lynn was dealing with having lost her parents. And then to know that demon and her mom took advantage of her.... I hope Jennifer flowers gets charged next!

The mom was escorted out by court police. She seemed like she really wanted to stay, but wasn't allowed. I did notice that she didn't make a single muscle movement when the verdict was read until it was time to leave. She was STONE FACED.

Why on earth was she allowed to sit around and chat with her lawyer after the verdict?? Every other trial I've seen, the officers shackle and cuff them as soon as the judge leaves.
Side note: I love the fact this case was accidentally referred to as the 'tear drop' trial on the first upload in this playlist. Very fitting.

Stole money from Lynn, stole health from Lynn, stole life from Lynn, stole Lynn from everyone who loved her, and stole everything that those she loved were supposed to get from her when she died (cats and the trust of Mr. Craige were stolen too as I'm sure trusting others was probably difficult after this). To me, the comparison between this crying and the "crying" in the interrogation room speaks volumes.

I have often wondered WHY she had searches AFTER Lynn was killed in 2019…who was going to be her next victim? Anthony? Jim? One of the probate attorneys?
That is just scary to me, obviously there no one, or anything standing in her way of that estate money! In her sick and twisted mind she honestly believes it’s her money! Thank god this evil, vile person is locked up for life!

It may just be me, but there's a slight satisfaction in seeing a defendant cry about their guilty verdicts when it's abundantly obvious they are guilty. What are you crying about? You knew this was going to be the outcome, maybe you shouldn't have stolen all of someone's money and poisoned them lol This is called consequences of your actions. I have no sympathy, there were no circumstances presented (or that I could even think of) that would make what she did okay or even a "necessity" for the lack of a better word. She's a liar, fraud, leech, and now a murderer.

Our courts are corrupt so, she got what she got. She can thank God for the mercy to still be alive and live in prison community with good programs.
