2. It's all about layering those vanilla flavors! This vanilla cake recipe is fitted with pure vanilla extract, natural vanilla bean yogurt, and vanilla almond milk! That's the secret so don't tell anyone.
3. This cake is super forgiving and perfect for beginners.
4. It's downright delicious! It's one of the best homemade vanilla cakes I've ever had!
How to make this vanilla cake recipe..in a nutshell
Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease and lightly flour two round 9-inch cake pans. Set aside.
In a large bowl sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl cream together shortening, oil and sugar with a hand mixer until creamy. Mix in egg whites until the batter is fluffy.
Stir in vanilla extract, almond extract, and yogurt.
Combine dry ingredients into wet ingredients, alternating with the almond milk until the mixture is smooth and combined. Be sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl.
Pour batter evenly into prepared pans. Give the pans a shake to release air bubbles.
Bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and let sit in pans until pans are warm to the touch.
Remove cake from pans and place on a cooling rack to finish cooling completely.
Frost with Vanilla Butter Cream Frosting

Y’all, OMG I made this cake yesterday for a co-workers bday, and everyone came and complimented me on this cake. It was so dang easy to make, I followed every step and used exactly what she used…it was so moist and the flavor was soooooo amazing.

I’ve been looking for a good vanilla cake recipe. I always use my pound cake recipe for my layers because it’s so light and delicious. But I’m definitely trying this because the texture looks like what I want. Most vanilla cake recipes have box cake texture and I hate that!

Update: I officially baked this cake last Friday and it came out way better than I expected!!! The flavor and the moisture that was held in this cake was to die for 🥲 I ran out of almond extract so I just added a bit more vanilla. My family loved this cake and as of today it’s finished. Thank you for sharing this recipe 🙏🏾 I’m so happy knowing that I’m able to bake a vanilla cake from SCRATCH!😭🙌🏾
